  1. Call it an intuition, gut feeling, sub conscious reasoning, or a little bird sitting on your shoulder, we all do it every day. When my kids had a hard decision to make I always told them to “Pay attention and listen to your heart first, your head and your a—s will follow” It’s the same thing. I’m not as smart and analytical as some to weigh all options, and balance all possible outcomes of every decision, but more times than not I’ll listen to me first. Mike
  2. Ditto I usually start with the solder as I can get just the right amount of weight I need/want Dots are easier but it’s harder to dial in Mike
  3. HA!! I do and I am! I used to watch that show all the time!! Mike
  4. Yes, there are certain bait choices and different presentations for all 3 levels of the water column to master But asking for “Techniques” is different… Flipping Pitching Bottom contact Skipping Walk the dog Long distance casting Different Cadences for moving baits (which in itself is a Technique) Mike
  5. I only use an iPhone so if your picture is there…. Click “Add Files” Click “Photo Library” Click on the picture, a blue check will appear on the bottom right Click “Option” bottom left Resize picture Click “Done” upper right” Click “Add” upper right” Mike

I hate hearing when this happens! Just hate it I’m Sorry Mike
  7. I’ve found that most lakes in Central and So Florida pretty much fish the same most of the year. In the Southern lakes where it could be a little warmer, most patterns will carry over into early winter but of course there are exceptions. Color choices of anything don’t change. The smaller isolated lakes show the biggest differences comparing one to another. However, I’ve found that at the bigger Lakes in the Kissimmee Chain and especially Okeechobee, the similarities end as areas and spots WITHIN certain areas and spots will fish differently depending on seasons, cover and wind direction (not necessarily wind speed) Mike
  8. @SC53 Thanks I joined thier mailing list and done some checking. They are a very active conservation group and have advocated for change for a long time. They’ve had some success over the years but the problem with the FWC is getting the 7 commissioners to agree on anything. A government operation for sure. Mike
  9. Interesting how things are so very different. June bug is my #1, slam dunk, absolute, no questions asked choice regardless of style, size or shape of every plastic I use. (Only exception is for sight fishing) Mike
  10. @ol'crickety Sorry about the above incomplete post. I was gonna write something positive about yours but after printing the first word my fat thumb hit the “Send” button trying to navigate around. It was sent in error 😠 Mike
  11. Yep, that’s something you won’t soon forget, and probably longer for your wife! Mike
  12. Same down here on Okeechobee and every other lake. Mike
  13. Considering the success that folks have using bright off the wall colors like “merthiolate and bubble gum” I just don’t get it. Nothing in the water is hot pink but guys on here use it and apparently are successful with it. I just never felt the need to throw a neon anything to get bit. Equipment/Presentation It makes me crazy if any outing has deteriorated to the point that I have to use anything finesse. If I knew beforehand that the only way I could catch a fish is by looking down at a screen all day, holding a UL spinning rod with 6# line, jiggling a 3” baby blue plastic all day waiting for a 2# fish to come swimming by, I’d just rather stay in bed Mike
  14. Stick Marsh finest March 6, 2018 8:24 am Mike
  15. @Zcoker @SC53 Agree.. Even tho I consider “The Lake” my home because I know it so well, The Stick and to a lesser degree Farm 13, are the only ones that got my heart pumping almost as fast. That includes Toho, Rodman, Kissimmee, Istopoka, St Johns, Blue Cypress, and any lake in any of the chains, and not only because I got my pb out of there. It really was something!!! Mike
  16. Trokar TK120 (5/0 Mag worm EWG) They’re a little more expensive compared to others but nothing pins and holds better. Mike
  17. Out of just those 2 I’d use the 5/0 VMC. I only snell for bottom contact presentations. There is no benefit for any moving bait. Mike
  18. If I’m on the water in a pleasure boat then yes that’s why I went, but not when fishing. Mike
  19. 12 combos, 3 rods and 6 reels who haven’t been married yet. All bait casting 2 spinning setups 1 for the youngest kids only and 1 saltwater. Mike
