Lures You Used More this Year
Nothing really exceeded expectations as I tend to only throw baits I have the most confidence in. As always my #1 bait choice is a Zoom Magnum UV Speed Worm Mike

Inside Or Outside
1) 90% of my fishing (which what I always look for and fish first) is “shallow water cover” 2) Around outside edges then work my way in and then out, changing angles with each cast or pitch is key. (opposite of the procedure in my previous post) Why? Because the only way for them to go is out. You need to keep them “pinned” to what you can’t see but know it’s there. 3) See # 2 Mike

Inside Or Outside
Ditto When fishing in the conditions described, Most times this is all I do Even just moving 20 yds or so. If you start outside and miss or spook a bass they could head out deep and you lost that fish. Sure, she could turn and head deeper in the cover but you were gonna fish that anyway. By going what @Catt described, we’re covering the most water to give you the best chance of picking them off and staying on top of them. Mike

Cleaning fishing rods
Use Pam Cooking Spray Spray a light coat or apply with a cloth. It doesn’t build up and it’s not a harsh chemical that can dull the finish. It’ll keep everything from sticking. For you Northern guy’s, it’ll also keep ice from accumulating on the rod or in the guides. For you Southern guy’s, it’ll keep grass and bugs from sticking or they will come right off with a light spray of water. Mike

Dog Adoption / Rescue ~
Mama and son.. Walter and Payton Butkus 1 Once people give them a chance and get past their size, most just fall in love with them. Danes are one of the most loving animals there are. Because of their size there are a few things unique to them that owners should learn to help them live a long and healthy life. But what you get back will last a lifetime. Mike

Dog Adoption / Rescue ~
Excellent Andy! My family have always owned Great Danes. We got our first in ‘78 and have had 5 since. My daughter has rescued 2 from the Big Dog Ranch Rescue here in Florida which advertises itself as the “Largest Cage-Free No-Kill” dog rescue in the country If anyone is interested in adopting a “big boned” friend 😄 That’s the place Mike

How did you do in 2023
It was something fir sure!! Been bass fishing all over the SE in tournaments with local guides and professionals as my boater and never had that happen. Even when I Marshalled for the Elites I Saw it maybe once or twice but they only picked off maybe 1 or 2 before it was over. To actually see them turn around and hang relatively close by was a sight in itself. Mike

How did you do in 2023
I had a streak of 12 consecutive years of entering both B.A.S.S. Nations and BFL’s broken this year because of having another back surgery. I had more quick getaways in 23 than I ever have and did better than I thought. The best day was last month on Lake Placid where my partner and I bagged more fish over 7 with a few smaller ones in a 5 hr span than any 2 day tournament. We hit it just right and ran into 2 wolf packs just cruising. One time he got the leader about 30yds from the bow which turned the rest around and we picked them off for 1/2 hr. They just stayed within casting distance. Darnest thing I ever saw Never had that happen. Mike

Sweeping/dragging a Lipless
There are 2 ways I throw a trap… What you describe, much like how I use a C Rig with a rod sweep, stop, lift and sweep again. The other which is much more effective in 2-4 ft for me is reel, lift and vary the reel turns dropping it each time. But when I lift it’s a hard pull, even breaking the surface and continue back. Kit Cars - Whose built one?
Thank You Thats where the research comes in. A classic or older antique car, is only original once. The problem is finding one in a condition that you wouldn’t need a fortune to restore. So called “ barn finds” are becoming increasingly rare, but if you’re serious a little investigating and research about what you chose is a must. But that is just one way of doing it. Finding a car to enjoy, drive and have fun with is a lot easier and cheaper and to some more enjoyable. Just depends on what you want. Mine is an all numbers matching Concourse Level frame off restoration which sometimes I wish it wasn’t. To me it’s a piece of history which I treat with respect as there aren’t many 58yr old muscle cars left. I hope you find what you want and enjoy it. Owning a Time Machine is a totally different feeling when you turn the key. Mike

Kit Cars - Whose built one?
I’ve owned my 65 for 31yrs. If you go with an original anything take the time and spend whatever it takes to know what you have before you decide. A kit is far less expensive and you can make it anything you want. If you go to a full blown show quality restoration, the time and money you need to do it right is the only limitation but nothing will give you greater satisfaction. Mike

Bowling
If it hurts to fully immerse your thumb, ask someone if they have a glove that has a pad sown into the palm. What that’ll do is position the ball farther forward taking some pressure off. Plus, the biggest advantage is if you use a finger tip grip it makes it much easier to roll with the lift you need. Just be sure that the thumb comes out first and lift with your fingers. If you keep your wrist straight throughout, with the thumb at 12:00-2:00 at release it’s much easier to get the speed and revolutions you need with a smaller loft. Good Luck Mike
