  1. HesterIsGod09, I didn't mean that some bass aren't catchable at all, just that some are near impossible during a particlular stage of the spawn. I also believe that ll bass are catchable while spawning, it is just that spwning can be broken up into stages other than pre and post spawn. Stages within the actual spawn and some bass won't hit at all under certain circumstances. For instance, I have never caught a bass while they were in the actual process of rubbing up against each other.
  2. I am sure I will take some flack for this, but I like to fish during the spawn the most. It is not true that fish are uncatchable during spwan. Sometimes it is easy to catch them and sometimes hard, and sometimes, you can't get them to bite. It depends on the mood of the fish and the stage of the spawn he/she is at. Sometimes you can get them to bite if you are literally right on top of them, other times if you are close, they won't bite, but that same fish, if seen from a distance and cast right on the right spot, for all beds have a sweet spot, the fish will anhilate the lure.
  3. Del's molds are awsome and yes expensive, but the quality can't be beat. I see a lot of people pour one-sided molds with other molds, but del's are 2-sided so beavers, tubes, senkos, etc. turn out great.
  4. I agree with the guy who made the comment about the BPS rattle shad. Awsome colrs but the hooks suck. I like that they are 3/8 oz. because I can't heave the 1/4 rattletrap when i want to fish them over grass that is nearly to the surface. A 1/2 trap gets too into the near surface grass too easily. The 3/8 BPS trap is a nice alternative. The only other thing that is not good about them is the durability. My rattletraps have been through hell and back. I cast and hit a piece of wood and it cracked down the middle. I would also say buy jigs and lots of them.
  5. 1. Yes 2. variety of presentations using lots of greens in jig/soft plastics and natural colored cranks.
  6. 1. For me, fishing is not fun in early spring. Working really, really hard for maybe a bite and just working for the first few fish and geting the rust off. 2. Anytime it is really windy. I know many say fishing is better with some wind, but never pleases me more than the ambiance of a calm, glass like lake. 3. When you have to force yourself to get out because you have a tourney in July/August and it is sweltering out. 4. (For us guys who actually have an end to the fishing season) Making yourself go out if it's cold outside in the fall because you know you only have a few weeks before you start to go crazy. 5. The biggest one, again for us Northern guys, when the rest of you Southern guys are out all year and i can't GO fishing.
  7. Almost every bait I use during night fishing has a rattle in it. Other than that, as others said, unless it's dirty water, no rattle.
  8. Does yours say deep cycle on it? Again, mine says nothing. Not deep cycle or anything else.
  9. I was debating buying 2 everstart marine maxx 29 batteries for my trolling motor. They have CCA's 845 and a reserve of 205 min. They are yellow. They don't say deep cycle or anything else on them. Anyone know if they are deep cycle like i assumed they are?
  10. I just bought 2 Everstart Marine Max batteries from wal-mart. They are yellow with CCA's of 845 and a reserve of 205. Even though they don't say it on them, I thought they were deep cycle batteries. My question is, are they? Again, they don't say Deep Cycle on them. I am using them for a 24V Trolling motor.
  11. Sweet If they put a BPS where the Gander Mountain is by me, that put it only an hour away.
  12. Forget the scorpiuon MG. It does not cast as well as the regular scorpion. I owned one MG and a regular scorpion. i sold my Mg after it failed to perform as well as the regular scorpion. I can pitch 1/8 oz. baits with little effort on my scorpions. 1/4 oz. lure will go a mile with the right rod on that reel.
  13. I use the mossback lenses from solar bats. Awsome for the spawn.
  14. Like you, I made a commitment to learn the c-rig a while back. It is awsome. I use it all year round and have a rod/reel just for it. You cna attatch anything to it and it will work. I reallt love fishing it pararllel to grasslines though. It is also good on humps. I have even caught fish while using a crankbait at the end of it.

    Magic craw swirl.
  16. Hit up BPS and Cabelas online for around $250. Then pops called from south carolin and said he saw the old curado 201BSF for $100 so I had him pick that up for me too.
  17. Generalist. Unless I am drinking while fishing. Then I am whatever type of angler that stops and pees every 5 minutes.
  18. In dirtier water, I like blacks, purples, and reds. In clearer water, I stay with greens and light browns
  19. I have a 7ft. H Compre that is a few years old and I like it alot. It is very sensative.
  20. Valascus said it best, that it dpends on the days. In early spring and spring, most of my bites come on the pause. However, I will throw a jerk in mid-summer through schools of baitfish and bass will nail it on the jerk.
  21. I stay away from the x-rap in the early spring unless I know there are smallies in the lake. The x-rap has an awsome, yet wide action on the jerk and in early spring on LM bass waters, I find they want a litttle more subtle bait. Smallies on the other hand will hit it big in early spring.
  22. They are the real deal my friend. One of those every few years baits like a senko. I even invested in a mold and started pouring them myself because I go through so many of them.
  23. Depending on water temps, and time of year, i will vary my twitches. I also find it beter to twitch on sami slack line, especially in early spring. Jerking on limp line will only move the jerk in place a lot and won't bring it back to you. I also like to count to myself, it teaches to really focus on what you are doing and it forces you to slow down.

I have a nice little recipe for making rust easy to remove. I take a cup of VERY hot water, spray in a little dura-lube, add some barkeepers friend (can be found in any food store) and mix it up. Then i remove the hooks and put them in the cup. It smells pretty bad though. I let that sit and stir occasioanlly. I then pour out the water after a while and take a bunch of paper towles and start to pat the hooks dry. You wil see the rust in the paper towel as you dry. it takes a little time but hey, it's winter.
  25. I find most of my spots are rust spots. I take a wire brush that is used to clean rust and run it across the cranks a few times. I have never had an instance where the paint came off.
