  1. It just seems like the main channels play hunting shows all year long and all day and fishing shows get a couple months.
  2. Thanks guys. Her reel had yo-zuri hybrid on it and yes when I take the line off and tight the drag it still slips.
  3. I have not seen a legitimate show since about June or July and even those were reruns of Bill Dance and the FLW tour from 2013. It seems like when I find show on the air at 4,5,6 in the morning. What happened to Friday Night Fishing on outdoor or Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin on around 8,9,10 in the morning. I also miss the show Ultimate Match Fishing. I enjoyed that a little bit more than MLF.
  4. First I appologize for the fact I do not know the specifice names of the internals of the reel. Please let me know if I confuse you with naming it the wrong word. My wife has the Gen 2 BPS Bionic Plus. She has used it for 2 years and absolutley loves it. Towards the end of the season the reel was acting really strange, the handle was grinding and the drag quit working. I finally had time to take it apart and see if i could find what is wrong with the reel. The first problem I found was the "gear" that the spool slides into is broken. the spool will go into the gear but it is bent internally. The spool is fine but the gear is bent. That is the problem I found for the grinding. The lack of knowledge I have with taking reels apart I didn't want to break down the drag and see what was going on. So the drag does not engage. Whether you tighten or loosen the drag star it doesn't effect the drag and all, the line just peels of. It is next to impossible to reel in a 2# bass because the line peels off faster than she can reel it in not matter how tight I make the drag. Is it worth spending the cash to get this fixed or should I keep trying to talk her into a different reel. The only reason she wants to keep the reel is because it has the "Smart Cast" Dual brake system. Meaning her next reel needs to have a dual brake system.
  5. Every show I enjoyed watching is on the World Fishing Network. I will have to find a way to get that channel.
  6. I wish cable offered that channel.
  7. I could see that, I know fishound moved the Scott Martin Challenge to YouTube.
  8. Have not used a lews but I have handled one.I also used to own about 8 Carbonlite rod and reels. They are extremely lite and very sensitive. But unlike mist lite rods these don't feel like they will break on u. I wish I still had my carbonlite combos.
  9. I use a size 20 lews speed spool spinning reel on my shaky head. I'm also a bit different in I use a MH rod for shaky head and 6# flouro only
  10. I get the Outdoor Network, Sportsman Channel and NBCSN. It seems like over the past two years there are less and less fishing shows on these channels. All I ever see are hunting shows. If I'm lucky I find an old bassmasters or FLW recap but that's about it. What happened to Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, Hook and Look, Zona Awesome Fishing Show, Lunkerville, the Bass Pros? I loved these shows and learned more than I thought I would.
  11. 5 Denali 2 Castaway and Abu Garcia
  12. At that price point I would get the new Daiwa Fuego reel. But I love my Orra Sx reels.
  13. New rods I really enjoy Denali Lithium and J2 rod. But my Ole Faithful will always be the either version of the Abu Veritas rods.
  14. That rod looks gorgeous. I have been "scared" away from building my own rods due to cost. I am usually only able to afford $100-120 rods and when I look at components and blanks building custom rods seem out of my budget. GO.GATORS!!!!
  15. BPS used to be the only place I shopped for tackle but a couple months ago I interviewed for the fishing department head manager position. I was beat out by a guy that doesn't fish but had years of managerial expirience. I was told I could be a part time associate wiry my knowledge but fishing knowledge isn't a requirment for employment. One of the major responsibilities of the managment spots I wanted was to decide what products to put on the shelf. Im pretty sure you need some fishing knowledge to do that. So I quit going to bps. I now get my stuff online or Walmart. My Walmart has a fantastic selection. I bought my last 2 revo stx there and my veritas 2.0 rods at Walmart.
  16. I agree fully with you. The club I fish in, as a co angler, looks down on backseaters, it is in our rules co has to pay $30 minimum to boater every tournament. On top of that co cannot suggest areas, boaters get all say. Also our club dues average out to $160 per event, all tournament fees from a boater gets put in the winning put but also so does an extra $60 of the co's tournament fees. So technically in a way as a co imo pay at least $90 to ride on a boat. Wish it want the only club in my area that accepts co anglers.
  17. I looked at what you said and I told my wife to part together a molding kit I can get everything I like and exact baits I want for about $10 more than the kit I have no control over. Thank u
  18. I normally out fish anglers that are t-rigged with my shakey head. But I have no problem throwing a t-rig on my shakey head setup. I dont have the confidence in my jig fishing that's why I split part time with frog/jig
  19. My wife is getting me the plastic making kit for beginners through Jannsnetcraft however looking at the price for color, glitter, scent, salt seems a bit high. We're do you buy your plastic making supplies bears baits seemed to have great prices on these things
  20. I feel like this is what I am experiencing as well, I live in an area were bass is not a prime target. I live in Walleye country on Lake Erie and the Maumee River. The only place to get bass fishing gear is BPS or Walmart and even those stores carry more to walleye than bass. I did go ahead a buy the rods I want from TW and I have had no problem with rods I bought from Ron at DVT. Academy, and BPS almost always send me rods with bent guides or broken tips.
  21. I personally do not like to flip/pitch but when I do I use my frog setup
  22. Happens to me all the time. I feel like on the waters near me boaters think the have more of a right to the water than shore bound anglers I sat up on a spot everyday I would fish for about an hour in between college class (about 3 years ago). There was a ledge about 20 yards from shore that started in rip rap and dropped in sunken trees, best spot I ever fished I would catch about 20 2-4lbers in that hour but it never failed every time a boater would ride past and see me pulling in fish after fish they would drop the power poles down and cut me off. I even had a couple ask me what I was throwing to be successful. When I would get mad they told me that it wasn't a tournament so what was the big deal? This made me have a general resentment towards all boaters (sorry to the decent, respectful boaters out there )
  23. I have dumbed down my combos from 18 to 6 since I am making the switch to a full time Co Angler. My question is I have the 6 combos I feel will cover most of the application but I would like to get everyone's opinion on the combos I have. 1. 6'9" Denali Kovert crankbait rod/6:1 Tatula with 12lb Yo-Zur; Reaction baits 2.6' 10" Denali Rosewood spinnerbait rod/7:1 BPS PQ 10lb Mono; topwater and spinnerbaits 3 6' 10" Denali Rosewood Frog rod/7:1 Curado I 40lb Braid; Frogs and big jigs 4 7' 1" Abu Villain M/6:1 Revo S 10lb Yo-Zuri; secondary reaction combo 5 7' Kistler Pro Series MH/5:1 haven't bought a reel yet; Big cranks, swimbaits and secondary spinnerbait/topwater 6 7' Denali J2 Shakey Head rod/ Lews Tournament speed spool HS 10lb flouro; spinning combo for finesse I am more of a power angler and use spinnerbaits and reaction baits most of the time.
  24. Thanks everyone. I knew a story on why they didn't carry Lews products but I never understood why they haven't brought in other companies.
  25. Like the head says, why can't BPS carry new companies? I mean I have seen more Duckett Rods lately but why don't they carry 13 gear or Denali rods Kistler, Dobyns, Pinnacle thats just a few I can think off the top of my heads. I want a *** rod however I dont have a Gander Mountain near me and I dont trust shipping rods. I have had a few broken by the time I get them.
