the reason that the fish is so dark is because it is probably a spawning/post spawn male channel, and a big one at that!!! great fish.

I have never had this problem with braid from wally-world, but often they store the line in a hot humid area witch can weaken mono and fluorocarbon, i recently bought a spool of 15 pound test trilene fluoro and right out of the package you could pinch the line in half, i have talked to other people who have had the same experience.

Absolutely, jigs also work.

Save your money, my 700's only have one latch on them because the rest broke, these boxes are not very durable, and don't do a very good job of doing what they are supposed to. If you fish from a boat, get a cook's go-to tackle system, they rock!!
