  1. Now that is a lot of info! well done sir! Jeff
  2. My 3 rods I fish jigs on are: St croix Avid 70mh/f with Core 50 spooled with 15lb Invisx St Croix Avid 70 h/f with Curado e7 spooled with 40lb Daiwa Samurai braid G loomis BCR854 GLX with Chronarch e7 spooled with 15 lb invisx I like the flouro much better. The only reason the braid is still on the one reel is I used it for frogging and light a-rig as well. I have decided against the a-rig anymore, and dont do much frogging, so it might be changed out soon to more flouro. I was on a huge braid kick with my jigs for a while, until I did a test with braid vs copoly vs flouro one day at the lake, and the flouro outcaught both others, same lure and presentation. Might just be in my head, but I'm convinced! Jeff
  3. Don't know how much the Dorado weighed, but it seemed heavy! LOL I have a crazy extensive bucket list, by by darn I am trying to get em all! Jeff
  4. Nice fish! Congrats! Jeff

  7. VERY nice smallie! I know why you are hooked! Jeff
  8. HAHA. I still have to make a trip up there for a SLOBOSAURUS REX with you. Not this year though. But I need one of those smallies to take another notch off. Jeff
  9. No problem. I have a slick way of doing it that Wayne P. showed me. Just those look very professional! Jeff
  10. TN 10 day fishing-without trout(which are not in Pickwick) is $25.50. MS only has a 3 day, so a yearly license would be required. It would cost $54.29 AL has an annual license for $46.40 The reason I tell you all of the prices is that all 3 are able to be purchased and fish Pickwick lake, but all 3 also have different boundaries. I will try to explain, but am not 100% on the boundaries. Here is what I know to the best of my ability. I believe the reciprocal agreement works like this: TN license: You can fish from the KY Lake Dam to the north bank at the mouth of Bear Creek. MS license: You can fish the Pickwick Dam to the south bank of bear creek. With TN or AL License, you cannot fish past the bridge in the back of yellow creek (up the Tenn-Tom). (hwy 25 bridge) With the AL license, you can fish Pickwick Dam to Wilson Dam. That's how I remember it anyway. Basically, get an AL license and you are covered for almost the entire lake(except if you want to get in the river for SM like what RW loves to do. THIS REQUIRES A TN LICENSE) If you run the Tombigbee Waterway to Bay Springs, then you need a Miss license. Good spotted bass fishing, and clear water. Obviously if you go above the Wilson Dam into Wilson lake, or lock down into Wheeler, you will need only Alabama. Jeff
  11. BOAT= bust out another thousand Jeff
  12. And you made these? If so I need a returned favor...... Jeff
  13. We actually stayed in San Jose.(Barcelo) It was much slower paced and the type of vacation my wife was looking for this time. There were actually 3 restaurants called either the trailer park, the world famous trailer park and "la gondeleria"(sp). We read the reviews of all 3, and were very mixed. Most of the locals said the sale of the restaurant sent it down hill, and to spend your money elsewhere. So we did. Fishing was great though. If you need a recommendation next time you are down, let me know. Jeff
  14. Oh boy Oh boy. I can hardly wait. We are gonna catch so many grennel its not funny! Jeff
  15. Got mine in the mail as well. Thanks and they will be put to good use. Jeff
  16. We tried to get to the trailer park per your suggestion but apparently it has recently sold and it is not the same. Lots of bad reviews and mad people compared to what it used to be. Also there is a couple different ones claiming to be the trailer park now. It is kind of strange. We decided against it. Jeff
  17. My wife and I just returned from a trip to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. It was a wonderful trip and all of that blah blah blah, but what I was excited about was my offshore trip. I try and get offshore a couple times a year, but this was my first since last June, so I was really excited. I am on a quest to catch a member of all the billfish family and knock them off my "bucket list" and I am proud to say I notched another one off. It was my first time fishing out of Cabo, but not my first in the Pacific. The day started off before the sun rose. I met the crew at the boat, and we headed out with a quick stop at the marina for lunches to go and then meeting a "bait man" right before we left the inlet for a 5 gallon bucket of mixed live and frozen bait. Shortly after we were rounding the famed "lands end" and we were off. Best part about Cabo is the closeness of Blue water. A mere 150 meters off shore and it is blue. To get the depth we cruised another maybe 10 mins and lures were in the water. Within the first hour we hand landed a "schoolie" sized dorado and a bull. A nice bull at that. The the excitement started...... Pimi the captain starts yelling in Spanish something I could not understand and chaos erupts. A marlin was near the surface and the live bait rods were ready to be pitched. The deckhand throws one and then I throw one. We circle the marlin and he disappears. In what seems like an eternity, maybe 20 seconds, the deckhand gets bit. I hastily reel in and get the lures reeled in while he clicks the spool on his reel. He hands the rod to me, and gets the rest of the rods reeled in as I began to see an aerial show like out of the movies. Not a great fight, in means of time and strength, but a fun one with multiple jumps and runs before she? tires and comes to the boat. My first Striped Marlin. Around 120lbs or so and after a quick attempt at de-hooking, she was gone. I was a little sad that I didn't even get a picture, but at the same time, happy she swam free. Not too long afterwards the action restarts, as another Striped Marlin comes and hits a lure. The fight was on. This one did not jump out of the water as much but did stick her head out a couple times. We managed her to the boat quickly and was able to get the hook out and actually a quick out of the water pic(which didn't turn out so well, as I wanted her back in the water faster). This one was about 90lbs or so, and I am happy to say she swam away just fine. We got into a school of smaller dorado after that landing another 13 before I asked to head back towards the area we caught the marlin. After all, I was in the "Marlin capital of the World". As we headed back to that spot, we rose a sail in our spread and after pitching to it, she was gone. I was a little upset because I would have loved to catch both in one day, but it was not to be had. Or so I thought. We hooked into another Striped Marlin which got off within minuets of initial hooking and also another sailfish, who got off on the second jump. The day was about over, and after the sail got off, they told me it was time to head in. Crazy thing was, on the way in Pimi spotted another Marlin near the surface, and shut the boat down. We pitched to it, both me with a balleyhoo, and the deckhand with a "bullfish" but this one wanted nothing to do with us. And with that we headed back in. It was a great time in Cabo, and I will be back! Jeff Here is the only picture that halfway turned out of a Marlin out of water. I had my good camera, but never used it, and this picture was the captain using my point and shoot. These were our guest upon arriving back at the dock. They robbed everyone's left over bait! Pretty smart!

  21. Perfect, that will tell us for sure if that is a spring or not.... Jeff
  22. So let me get this straight., the 2 water changes on the right side, you suppose would be a spring? Did you notice any temp changes in the water when near by compared to the temp of other similar depth water? Jeff
  23. One of the best investments made on my boat! Jeff
  24. We catch them regularly on white colorado blade spinner baits. More than we want to catch. We call the Grennel in the south. Jeff
