  1. Back when I raced cars, we were melting down lead to make weights for the race cars. We had gathered the lead from a shooting range and also a tire shop. When we got the lead from the tire shop it was in a 5 gallon bucket, and did not realize the the bottom of the bucket had a little water in it. When some of the lead from that batch was introduced it exploded and shot all over us and the garage door. We Stopped using that lead immediately and thank goodness we had safety glasses on. It really explodes. I will get a picture in the next couple days to show you how much it explodes! Jeff
  2. WOW! You are on a roll! Jeff
  3. I have several rods from st croix, from premier all the way up to legend elite. My opinion on the rods listed are, 5'10'' is just to short for most applications. The 6'6'' ml/f spinning rod would be good for live bait on a river, drop shot, small shakey head or any kind of panfish/sunfish. I think it would still be to light for soft plastics to really penetrate the hook. The 6'6'' mh/f would be fine for plastics and jigs, even spinnerbaits. I think you will want to look at another application for your trebel hook lures(cranks/some topwater, and jerkbaits) Jeff
  4. Last year, a buddy and I were fishing my club when a squirrel was snacking on some persimmons in a tree. Occasionally we would hear a loud splash under the tree. When we got closer, we realized what was going on, and we tied on Jigs, with Uncle Josh red pork trailers. As soon as they would hit the water, you could set the hook. All were grass carp in the 5-15lb range, but fun to catch! Jeff
  5. Apparently I am a wuss! I can't remember living without a/c therefor I have to have it! LOL Glad you are back to the modern times and cool again! Jeff

  7. x2! And also ALWAYS use KVD line and lure conditioner to help even more! Jeff
  8. Nah! It happens! Some super reel fanatics( JFrancho and DVT) will probably tell you to take it apart and let it dry out and then clean really well before oil/grease and reassembly, but I have done it numerous times with no problems! Jeff
  9. I told him it must have been the " Big O wanna be " shorts. Lol Jeff
  10. Just FYI, these are being discontinued, so buy em up now! Jeff
  11. Left Memphis early this morning (2:45) to head up to the TN River to fish below the dam before it got hot. We got on the water right around 5:15, just as the sun was coming up and had caught our first fish before 5:30. I struck the first 2 on a Mega Bass PopMax, both largies. Paul switched over to a popper and caught the next one. Then we took turns for the next hour. Caught 7 bass on topwater in the first hour, and then it was OVER! First cast with a ball headed hair jig, and caught my largest LM of the day, which was only about 2lbs. Then back to back catfish on the same hair jig, while Paul was fishing a t-rigged worm. Went a little while with no action and we headed down river to another spot I had picked out. I had promised Paul his first ever smallie, and to assure this, we got some minnows to drift once the water picked up. Sure enough, Paul strikes first while drifting down the CENTER of the river. First ever smallie.... Not a bad one as first SM. The we go on a junk fish tear for another hour and a half, catching the likes of drum, catfish, crappie, and more catfish. We move down to a bend in the river, where we could get back closer to the bank, and still have enough current. We started back in on the bass......mostly LM, with a few SM mixed in and even a Spot. Then a little later, Paul hooks into another smallie...his new PB... Just a little over 2.5lbs. We finished up the day around noon, with the temps reaching 103, and needing to get off the river. We ended up with about 2 dozen bass mixed(8 SM, 1 Spot, the rest LM), and another dozen or so "Junk" fish! Pretty good day for the beginning of July, and I can't remember when it was below 100! Jeff

  21. I fished out there 2 day the end of last summer/fall and had really good luck throwing weighless plastics along the grass/weed lines. More specifically senkos, ochos, and zoom lizards all t-rigged. Caught some wacky, but mostly t-rigged Jeff
