  1. Cute little thing. You should buy a cat to serve as his bodyguard.

Same here in Central VA. Bought a loaf yesterday for a buck, as I've doing for the last few years. Tasted just fine this morning. And I'm still alive. Eat Ramen for lunch and fish NRXs, that's my motto!
  3. Shimanos of course. Citicas and above. Friend of mine has a couple of Bantam Curados that probably have never been cleaned or lubed and he leaves them out on the deck all the time (when not fishing). Not how I like to treat my gear, but those reels of his still fish.
  4. One stone. Two birds. Kill them Raider. Here's your chance.
  5. What makes a flipping rod, a flipping rod? More specifically, I want to know about the action (taper) and the handle length of an ideal flipping rod. Is either a function of the cover type/ density? I know how flipping actually originated, but I'm interested in figuring out the modern sub 8 footers marketed as "flipping rods". Thanks,
  6. Funny, and true!
  7. Texas tackle split ring pliers is what you want. Any old split ring pliers will do though. Do NOT use your nails. For the small splitrings that bass sized cranks usually have, you could get away with a pair of regular needlenose pliers or nail clippers to open up the ring a little to slip out the old hook and slip in a new one..
  8. All I know is that if a line breaks at 20#, then it's a 20# test line, no matter what the label on the box says. Yo-Zuri is a good line, as long as you're sure of the diameter you're using. Take a look at the Pline PF original. I believe it is a better, but slightly pricier, alternative to the YZ hybrid. Better abrasion resistance and less stretch. It breaks close to the stated pound-test, so you might want to bump up a line size or two.
  9. Real cool. Congrats!
  10. What depths of water can you reach casting from the shore? If the answer is ~30 ft, try structures (not cover) associated with the main and feeder creeks in the western half (the half nearer to the dam) of the res. If the answer is <20 ft, it might be time to find a smaller lake where you can reach useful structure. Good luck.
  11. Buzzbaits. I have got a grand total of 1 bite and 0 hookup on them.
  12. All I remember about that reel is I couldn't cast it to save my life. Other than that, it was a nice reel; super smooth, consistent drag etc etc. TW was blowing them out for ~$100 back in 2010.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
  14. Ok, no problem. Thanks for the info. P.S. My wallet says thanks too.
  15. Mike, do you offer your grid iron FB jig with a long-shank light wire 4/0 or 5/0 casting style hook (for 3/8 or 1/2 oz heads)? Thanks,
  16. the hook up tackle
  17. Thermometer with a longish probe (surface temps are kinda useless). I have an Acurite (forget which model) with a 10' probe. Also, when you catch a bass, put the probe down in its gullet to measure the water temp at the depth it was.
  18. Brian, hit up SirSnook and ask for a recommendation. Fish Chris could have been of help as well, but he seems to be MIA.
  19. I always thought lefty baitcaster reels were a much more recent thing. Learn something new everyday! Thanks for the post.
  20. Blue knows what I'm talking about! Lots of left coast folks use lighter line around some serious structure. Cover, don't know about that. Also the Japanese, of course. Clear water, high angling pressure; you get the idea. And I think Sunline is a Japanese company. High density and low stretch both sound good to me.
  21. Doesn't come in any test under 14#? Wonder why.
