  1. To me, there's a big difference between what I consider stained and dirty. If a white spinnerbait disappears a foot below the surface, that's dirty. 1 to about 3 feet of visibility is stained to me and that's the kind of water clarity I like. As long as it's in the low 40's, I'm confident fishing stained water.
  2. Like others said, call the guide. You're going to an area were you may need very technique specific gear. Lots of very heavy vegetation in Florida, how many folks own the right rod/reel/line setup to work in that situation? I provide the gear on my trips, but I've had people bring their own lots of times. Usually it's okay, but sometimes it's a major hinderance. I make sure all the gear that they're getting is in good shape and ready to handle whatever we may encounter on the water that day, I can't do that with their gear. I've had people show up with very under or overpowered equipment, and the worst was one that had braid that must have been on his reels in the sun or something because it snapped like sewing thread every time he got bit. He was so determined to use his own gear though, it made the trip feel like a failure when it was out of my control.
  3. I think a team with a more competent DC might have perhaps considered doing something other than trying to play man coverage on guy the entire game that put up almost 250 yards. Spagnolo has done a lot to turn the defense around for KC, but he seems really arrogant in his decision making sometimes. Sending an all out blitz on 3rd and 27 when all you have to do is hold them to a field goal and get the ball back with a couple minutes left to take the lead? Yikes.
  4. Luck-E-Strike Trickster
  5. Berkley Frittside would be my bait of choice, mainly the #5 in special red craw, lone ranger, and Kentucky blue.
  6. I don't use the regular Flicker Shad for bass, I've tried but never had any luck. I use the Flicker Shad Shallow a lot though. The Storm Smash Shad is a good plastic bait similar to the Shad Rap that I've had good success with though. BPS had them in their spring sale a couple years ago for something like $1.47 each, I've probably got 30 of them in my garage ?
  7. When I worked at Cabela's, I was always amazed at the junk that could be sold by just having a looping video of it catching fish. Similar to the hog trough, the store in KC has the aquariums right next to the fishing department. Whenever we were tasked with moving a certain product, I'd tie it to a rod and get a crowd gathered around the tank and just swing the bait back and forth in front of the glass. The fish would dart wildly back and forth, snapping at the bait on the other side of the glass and we'd sell a bunch of those baits directly after that. I tried the same thing with a big, bank sinker and the fish had the same reaction.
  8. I know the year is young, but that statement is in the running for understatement of the year. I use to eat beef jerky in the boat but I switched to caviar because it's cheaper.
  9. I guess I don't understand how it matters. Only difference is now he'll have to catch his fish on "an unnamed jerkbait" or "an unnamed swimbait". I've seen guys on swimbait pages freaking out and I guess I just don't get it. He can still fish the baits he wants just like I'll still fish the baits I want.
  10. A bait that is rarely talked about but one of my favorite winter baits. Very similar to the Shad Rap, but it's plastic so it has rattles, more durable, and much cheaper. Runs a little shallower which is nice since most of our lakes are pretty shallow. I use a lot of the standard colors, but the HDs are the only ones carried on TW https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Flicker_Shad_HD_Shallow_Crankbait/descpage-BFKS.html
  11. I got some heavy duty rod holders and backing plates mounted on my kayak to chase big catfish from it this year.
  12. Idk, I actually kind of like that they don't put technique specific names on the rods. Everyone has their personal preference, so instead of buying a rod because it says it's for a specific technique, it makes you look at the specs to select a rod. The chart just helps those who might still be unsure. I bought a rod once many years ago that was labeled as a spinnerbait rod. The rod's specs were actually pretty heavy and I hated it for spinnerbaits, worked well for T-rigs, but that's not what I wanted it for. Had I looked more at the specs and not what technique the rod said on it, I don't think I would have bought it.
  13. If I'm trying to imitate a craw, I choose a wart. If I want a baitfish imitation, I go with the Shad Rap, simple as that.
  14. It's been a really weird year. Titans lost to the Jets and Texans, but the Titans stomped the Chiefs. Bengals lost to the Bears, Jets, and Browns, but beat the Chiefs, Bucs, and the Ravens twice. The Bucs barely snuck past the Jets, lost to the Saints twice, and a team with no name. The Packers have been the most consistent IMO, but can Rodgers finally make it through the post season without a collapse?
  15. Yeah, looks just like a Sidewinder spoon.
  16. I've had one drift away from the dock while parking the truck and had one stolen, but never just lost one.
  17. I do not, not because they aren't good hooks because I do keep them on their other baits, I just don't like EWGs on my jerkbaits.
  18. I had at least one over the years and can't remember catching a thing on it. Obviously the zen master had his name on them so they must catch some fish.
  19. Good info. I bought a color in the sale that looked brown but turned out more green pumpkin, not that I'll have a hard time using it, but I still need more dark brown ?
  20. I own a half dozen MB 110's. They're nice, but I can't say they're almost twice the price, nice. They're fragile too, which is a problem for the shallow, rocky water I jerkbait fish the most often.
  21. Crock-O-Gator ring craw in green pumpkin/orange
  22. Had 3 within a shad of each other. 7.36 on a Zoom mag finesse worm and homemade shakyhead 7.22 on a Strike King KVD HC flat side 1.5 7.24 on a homemade jig Honorable mentions goes to a 6.92 on a homemade bladed jig that won me big bass and pretty much the championship tournament and paid for my kids Christmas presents ?
  23. I just put them on a screwlock shakyhead.
  24. You only had 1 of my favorites on the list, so I voted for it, jerkbait.
