  1. I love shooting steel, except when it's on the clock and other people are watching. Those shots when there's no "clank" after the bang are so loud ?
  2. Take care of yourself.
  3. I enjoy it myself, my wife does not ?‍♂️
  4. Catfish must be a lot harder to catch in other parts of the world for people to work so hard for them.
  5. I pour my own compact flipping jig in a 5/16oz and it does just fine hooking fish but I can put a bigger hook on them if I want too.
  6. They work best in the colder weather months for me but are good again in the heat of the summer also.
  7. I wasn't planning on fishing today, probably shouldn't have. I have a ton of bait orders I need to get to but it wasn't as cold and was way less windy when I got off work than I expected, and it was the last day for my kayak tournament with me sitting 1 spot out of the prizes, soooo. Unfortunately in my hurry I forgot to put my memory card back in my GoPro. As sure as forgetting the net, caught the biggest fish of the whole tournament. Slacklined a 1/2oz War Eagle white/gold Colorado/Indiana bladed spinnerbait. Moved me into a tie for 3rd (last prize spot), but tiebreaker goes to biggest fish ?‍♂️. Also my new kayak PB and lake PB.
  8. It's an older model. I had a full grip LTB, probably 15ish years old. Still great rods then but they didn't retail for quite as much then either. A Magic Eraser will clean that cork right off.
  9. Guys that follow the "bent rod" pattern. Ones that blow up your spot because they recognize something in a picture. Just because you recognize that one tree or rock in the background doesn't mean announce to the whole world where I'm at, didn't mention the location for a reason ? The smart thing to do would keep your trap shut and get on that hot bite too while it last ?‍♂️
  10. That's awesome. I've never seen a big sturgeon around here. I've caught some shovelnose, but a big shovel is 5lbs. I'd love to catch a big one some day.
  11. Crank against that screaming drag and then wonder why their line blows up into a giant tangled mess a few cast later ?‍♂️
  12. The Bucoos are great rods in the $100 range. I've got 3 of them now and have been really happy with all of them.
  13. I have a few BC's with 20lb braid but they're for treble hooked baits that don't put a ton of pressure on the line and cause the dig in others have mentioned. Single hooked baits that require heavy hooksets are what cause that dig and I stay at 40lb and above for those baits.
  14. I've been slacking. I've got a pile of baits on my table in the garage of baits I've accumulated through my trips this winter and haven't posted any. Found a couple LC cranks, a Berkley Frittside, a couple more ploppers, and probably the coolest was finding the jerkbait that a friend of a friend lost the week before that he'd caught his PB on 2 weeks prior. It was a custom painted bait and I was able to get it back to him. I also caught a whole Lew's spinning combo on a crankbait this winter.
  15. Rapala Long cast minnow (discontinued)
  16. I've had really good luck with these. Not sure if you can find them anywhere other than Walmart, but my hookup ratio has been excellent with them. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lazer-Sharp-LPS137WG-1-0-Pro-Series-Weedless-Finesse-Hook-Size-1-0-Hook/984474974
  17. I don't change my retrieve for the water clarity. I've had fish in dirty water respond well to everything from swimming it just below the surface, to counting rocks.
  18. It's a nice fish but that's an impossible picture angle to take a guess on.
  19. The Jackall Rerange does the same thing. I thought my line broke the first time I cast it but the Rozante I was sure my rod broke my first cast I made with it.
  20. I just got a Blackstone 22" flattop a little over a week ago. Went smaller to be able to use it at home and still be small enough to bring along on camping trips. Got it seasoned up Sunday, haven't decided what the first meal made on it will be yet.
  21. I use a 30 size Okuma Avenger baitfeeder with a 7' MH Ugly Stick Lite. I've landed catfish up to 40lbs on that setup, it can handle a 20lb channel no problem.
  22. I have a few Okuma TCS and they're one of the best, most ignored rods out there IMO. I buy them any time I find a good deal on one.
  23. I've made the switch to Neko hooks for my WR worms this last year and the hookup ratio is insane. I didn't miss a ton of fish on it before, but now it's a surprise when it happens.
