  1. I've unfollowed so many people on FB, from both sides of the line. I'm not here for it. If I watch TV, it's usually a cartoon or science show with my kids or a show with my wife. Swapped all my emails over to my Google account from Yahoo so I can avoid all the negative news they post all over. They never show anything positive, ever. I don't need that in my life. If the world is going to end tomorrow, I'm going to enjoy today.
  2. Is used not an option? Used johnboats are everywhere in my area for real reasonable prices. I bought my 16' semi V with a trailer for $300.
  3. Seems like they're more targeting walleye, trout, and the like with these. More of a straight cast and retrieve style bait.
  4. No it isn't, it's 100% for putting rings on a worm. You thread the end of the worm through the hole, roll the band up from where they're positioned, open the band with pliers, and pull the worm to the desired position. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/field-stream-wacky-rig-pliers-20fnsufsrngplrsxxfac/20fnsufsrngplrsxxfac?sku=20438091&camp=CSE:DSG_92700040943492488_pla_pla-504822644822&segment=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA9P__BRC0ARIsAEZ6iriXozoZA-AF9ap37vO29TQSlG3PYyHX1BrfV5hjQf8svigszaHw_mEaAo8LEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I'm skinned my share of cats. There's no possible way to get a wacky rig O rig over the top of a pair of catfish skinners.
  5. I've done the screwlock type. They work pretty well, but hook up ratio does seem to go down.
  6. Keep your color selection simple, white and chartreuse and white makes up over 75% of my spinnerbait selection. Get a little mix of willowleaf, Colorado, and Indiana blades in silver and gold. You can cover the whole spectrum pretty well with less than 10 baits. Cast them out and try varying retrieve speeds but fishing them around cover is the main thing. They'll work in open water, but they're best around obstacles.
  7. I just pitch whatever I have tied on at them a couple times. If they bite, cool, if not I keep moving. Bed fishing doesn't do it for me I guess. It's cool to watch them react and bite, but more times than I've got them to bite, I can remember when I just wasted a bunch of time trying to get a fish to bite that never did when I should have been fishing for fish that actually wanted to bite.
  8. Guess it depends where you're from. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow. Doesn't sound like warm weather to me.
  9. I'm a Chiefs fan, and as sluggish as their offense has been, as bad as their run D is, and as good as the Brown's Run O is, I would not be surprised to see them win this weekend. I could see Chubb and Hunt just running wild. If they can get pressure with their front 4 on defense and drop 7, that's where Mahomes has struggled the most.
  10. I like the Chug Bug a lot also, but it's almost a hybrid walking/spitting bait like a Gunfish or Showerblows IMO.
  11. I use a Black Canoe balsa which is a local builder. The guy isn't fast making baits, but he makes each one by hand in his garage and test every one to make sure it's right. His River Shad pattern just kills them for me when they're up shallow eating shad. No idea how many fish I've caught on this one bait, but it's a lot. Don't smack them on the water to clean grass off of them, and don't bang them into obstacles on the cast and they last just fine, at least these ones do.
  12. When I try to fish 2 baits at once, I just find I lose baits twice as fast and catch fewer fish in the process.
  13. I'd actually never met the guy before that morning. I made the offer to anyone that wanted to fish it that I'd provide the boat if they'd pay the entry fee and he obliged. It was his first time in a tournament, or on a lake in a boat. I'll give him his credit, he never gave up casting and I thought and hoped he'd be rewarded for his effort, but he never was. The bass in this lake have at least some Florida strain genetics in almost all of them, so when they decide they're not going to bite, it's next to impossible to make them bite and several fishermen experienced that this day. I'd have to find a more experienced partner if I was going to do team tournaments regularly.
  14. I did a Google search to find mine and found several places. They're all overseas though so don't expect to get it real quick.
  15. Just peg it if it needs to be pegged. Bass aren't smart enough to be aware of the fact that the worm they just picked up is a little heavier than it's supposed to be. I worry more about an unpegged weight dragging behind the fish and getting stuck in something, causing the fish to let go of the bait.
  16. I like to use the lightest weight I can get away with. A lot of times, that's a 1/4oz. If you get in a situation with deep water in a lot of wind, you might need 1/2oz or more. 3/8oz is not that large of a weight to be using for a T-rig, but it's very light for a C-rig.
  17. Have to read all that fine print. People get ripped off buying empty boxes for expensive electronics all the time because they didn't read the fine print. When the seller list that it's the box only in the description, but the buyer overlooks it, then they've just won themselves a really expensive box.
  18. I'm always on the hunt for new places to try, even if it's a new area on a body of water I've fished hundreds of times.
  19. Mine was either time I've been south of the border bass fishing. Didn't haul my boat but tough to beat the fishing. As far as hauling my boat, it wasn't just a bass fishing trip but I hauled my boat with a friend down to the White River in Arkansas. Our plan was to fish for brown trout on the river (we'd never caught one), hit Bull Shoals lake midday when the trout slowed down. Then, after 2 days of that, we were going to Beaver lake to chase striper (neither of us had ever caught one). It was a blast. At the White and Bull, we both caught our brown trout, I had one that was 5 1/2 pounds T-bone a jerkbait after missing it a few times and we got to watch the whole thing happen. I caught a new PB spotted bass (3.75lbs) and walleye (4.5lbs) on Bull. When we got to Beaver, I caught 3.5lb largemouth on an Arig while my buddy was parking the truck and we barely started the big motor that day. No idea how many bass we caught, but it was a lot. I had the biggest with a 6lb 3oz largemouth, a 5lb largemouth, and a nearly 5lb smallmouth. Right as it was getting dark, it looked like boat wakes were moving across the surface, but there was no boats and it was flat calm. My buddy fired his A-rig at them and caught a 15lb striper and I got a 7 pounder. The next day was a lot tougher, but we found another spot with a lot of fish and my buddy caught his new PB smallmouth that was 4.5lbs, new PB hybrid striper that was almost 7lbs, and right before we had to leave, I caught a striper that was just over 20 pounds on my A-rig. I wish I had my GoPro back then, I'd love to have video of it all.
  20. Irish spring, body wash or bars. I've got both and use either.
  21. I think there's a bunch of reasons. I like to get away from the crowds when I'm fishing. None of our lakes are very big, so it gets real crowded during tournament time. I like to experiment and try different things while I'm fishing, tournaments don't really allow that without the risk of really bombing. I fish to alleviate the stress of my job, doing tournaments just adds to it. I do plan on fishing kayak tournaments this year to see if I like those better. I feel like they're a little more laid back. The last few boat tournaments I've fished, I've run into some serious egos and it just isn't fun dealing with them. I get all the confrontation I need at work, I don't need it while I'm trying to fish.
