Waking up super early is easily the worst part of fishing for me.
Been awake since 6PM, it's almost 6AM now, going to head to the lake in a few. Fishing and hunting are the only 2 things I love getting up early for.

New spinnerbait
Very nice. I did up one you sent me (the thin/potbelly head), white with tandem colorado/indiana copper blades. Caught a few fish with it Friday but the water was way clearer than I expected it to be.

Rapala Shadow Raps...
I've not done well with them, but Wal-Mart has a bin of Rapala Shad Raps/shads/DTs for $5 last time I was in there so I bought a few.

100% Skunked this morning
Looks like you were fishing deeper portions of the lake. Water temps in the low 50's, they're probably bunched up in the backs of shallow pockets and coves.

Kayak - Winter Storage and Care
Our garage gets a good number of spiders and house centipedes in it, so I'm sure it's a matter of time before one hitches a ride with me. I don't like spiders, I'm not terrified of them, but I have a hard time keeping it cool if one surprises me by crawling on me. Hopefully the camera is rolling when that time comes.

texax rigged ocho
I think this depends on the type of hook you're using. They're one of the more durable stickworms I've used without going to a stiffer plastic. I was actually T-rigging one Friday with a pegged 3/16oz sinker and caught 6 fish on the first one before it was shot and the second one was good for 4 fish. That's a whole bag worth of GYCB senko fish. I was actually using a 4/0 Owner Cover Shot hook and I think that helped durability a lot because the bait wasn't sliding down the hook with every fish.

Flipping hooks
Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Flippin' hooks. Mustad's are good too. Hated the Trokar hooks. The cutting point slices through the plastic and end up getting hung up constantly and lost their point quickly. They also slice a big hole in the fish's mouth, so if they get flopping and shaking around much with a big punching weight, their chances of coming off are way higher than other hooks.

That ALWAYS works....
Jig and a Ned rig are 2 things I always have rigged up.

Jerkbait advice
Were the fish you were catching getting the bait well or just the back hook? It's possible it was the right bait, but the wrong color. A simple color change can make a huge difference at times. In really clear water like that, you might have done well to go to a more translucent color.

1/4oz bladed jigs...
I do a few 1/4oz baits for imitating small baitfish. I cut the top skirt off so it's similar to a finesse cut jig skirt but even shorter so there isn't the flair at the top. Makes a very compact profile that imitates small prey items very well. I don't use them often, but I have a few guys that fish them a lot for white bass and wipers that put in big orders a couple times a year. I guess they're easier to fish over the shallow rocks than cranks and traps and the single hook is easier to remove than treble hooks.

Never get to crankbaits...
Yep, I don't really like fishing them, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to use them ?

Anyone ever 'tune' their Trolling Motor?
Did it with mine. My fin was way off center. Moved it about half an inch and it was much quieter.

The most weedless jig you throw .
The Trashmaster comes through any jungle I've put it in so far.

Never get to crankbaits...
Cranks are a very hot and cold bait for me. They're either one of the best options I can fish that day, or they won't touch them. A majority of the year, it's the latter. Right now though and all through the winter is when I do most of my damage with them.

Hey squarebill guys and gals...
Just picked up a couple of the KVD 1.5 Hard Knocks and a Norman's Speed N. Excited to put them through their paces.

Who's going fishing this weekend?
It's the Sportsman 120 PDL actually. Pretty similar to the Topwater. Ordered it back in July.

Post a photo a day!
I use to think Chloe did this just when she was really tired. She's grown now and I've come to realize we just have a really weird dog that sleeps on it's back sprawled out as far as she can go. Never seen one that did that consistently.

Frogs, buzzbaits, and topwaters.

You ever have a rod that put your hand to sleep?
Rod, no. Reel, yes. The 50E Curado, 70I Curado, and any model of Revo I've tried pushes on a spot in my palm at the base of my thumb that makes my thumb go numb.

Sold my yak
I was starting to wonder if it was ever going to actually happen. Well it finally did on Friday. Already got it broke in too.

6th Sense
I did well with this Quake 70 Friday. Don't ask me why I picked this color. Clayton's Shiner

Omega Rapture ?
I like their jigs but pretty disappointed with their spinnerbait I decided to try with my last TW order. Blades are not spaced correctly so they don't spin well and the skirt was gummed up and stuck together. Not sure I'd be willing to try another one of their baits real soon.
