  1. Over mats they're probably alright. I frog a lot in water willows and they're absolutely worthless for that.
  2. It works year round, no reason to move away from it.
  3. Snaps are fine. No reason to use a snap swivel unless you're fishing a lure that causes a lot of line twist though.
  4. Zman is the go to Ned rig bait maker, but don't mix them with regular plastics. I very rarely use it as a pure bottom fishing bait and have it almost constantly on the move. A lot of videos are going to show you a rig with a jighead that is too heavy, poured on a hook that is much too large, and fished like an open hook shakyhead. Sure that will catch fish, but you're not getting the most out of it that way. This is how to fish a Ned, from Ned himself on a lake 5 minutes from my house. and another one.
  5. It's almost like the fish don't read these rule books we try to write for them ? Once you start stepping outside the box, you realize there's this whole world of fish that is ready to be caught that lots of fishermen never access because they're trying to follow the rules and fish like the book tells them to instead of how the fish want them to.
  6. She finally made it to Customs. Wait and wait, and now we wait some more.
  7. It's very similar to the YUM Craw Papi, except more expensive and didn't seem to work as well for me.
  8. I guess I've never heard the rules for fishing a jerkbait. I fish them year round, flat calm, windy, sunny, cloudy, about the only time I don't use them is heavy cover and muddy water. Cloudy days are usually some of my best jerkbaiting days.
  9. It's great in sizes above 1/2oz, I don't really see the benefit in smaller sizes though. I lose too many sinkers to zebra mussels to fish it on everything.
  10. Welcome!
  11. I've got a Helios and a few TCS, all very nice and you can find them well below listed price right now if you look around.
  12. I have a pack that I've thrown a little. They don't look bad to me, but they bass don't seem to agree, have not had a bite on one yet.
  13. I like to hop a jig, but I catch a ton of fish dragging one too.
  14. Tons and tons of those 110 KO's out there. A buddy of mine paints some that I've caught hundreds of fish off of. Mine have to mess with the balance to get them to suspend perfect, but for the price they're great, and they don't hurt so bad when you lose one.
  15. Took my little fishing buddy to the same lake I was at last week. Fishing by myself last week, I caught 109 bass and 1 sauger in 8 hours. A ton of them were 6-10 inches long, but a 6 year old doesn't care. I was just hoping they'd be biting like that still, and they were. I tried hard to get a bigger bite, all I ended up doing was catching a lot fewer small ones (still ended up catching over 50 by myself on the day). My biggest fish of the day might have gone 2lbs, and I got another sauger on the same bait as last week. Lake liked the sauger because it had teeth ? He caught 13 and lost several more by the end of the day, all of them completely by himself.
  16. Welcome!
  17. My wife had the blues today, I imagine a combination of the day long rain and being stuck inside for so long. I did my best to try to cheer her up with a good dinner followed by a homemade S'mores pizza for dessert.
  18. I think it depends where they're caught. I rarely catch walleye from water deeper than 6-8 feet, and they fight like crazy. They're not even large ones I'm catching, 15-22 inches typically. They'll straighten a treble hook, pull drag, break your line if you're not careful. They aren't fast swimmers, but a pretty dogged fight overall. The ones I've caught fishing with my dad, who likes to vertical jig in deep water, like hauling a stick up from the bottom.
  19. I cut mine down to about 1" long. Shorter legs give less for the fish to miss the frog trying to grab at.
  20. Mostly from individuals who are selling their baits on FB pages. I got both those baits for under retail from the same guy. Been wanting s white 7" Slammer forever and he offered to toss the 4x4 in for a good price, so there it is. Not a huge MB fan, but nobody else has a deeper running jerkbait that I can fish very effectively. Done pretty well on sexy French pearl 110+1, but I needed a white one.
  21. Fishing wasn't terrific today, but the mail call when I got home was pretty great.
  22. All in the Powerbait lineup now unfortunately. They put the Havoc lineup out long enough to get us hooked and then gave it the hook. They still won't give me back my 2 favorite colors of Pit Boss either ?
  23. Chiefs fan, hoping they go CB, LB, and OL.
