Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
Hmm, I would assume it's good but I have the exact same spool of line and same lb test at home and it looks much nicer than that. It's wound perfectly and had the seaguar sticker on the spool.

Knock off Whopper Plopper
Google search whopper plopper blanks and you'll find plenty.

Mid-high end finesse/drop shot rod
What's your price range? I use a St. Croix LTB 6' 10" ML/XF for those baits and it's an excellent rod, but maybe more than you're looking to spend.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
Did you buy it from a dealer or an individual?

Knock off Whopper Plopper
I have some of the KO blanks that I've had painted. Actually had one guide trip the guy in the back of the boat was catching all the fish on a KO behind a 110 and 90 R2S plopper. Not sure if he was doing something different but he spanked everyone with the KO bait.

Strike King Bitsy Bug Jig
One of the jigs I learned to fish jigs with was a Bitsy bug. The hooks are terrible though which brought me to making my own version eventually. 1/4oz Snootie jig with a much better quality hook.

Plastic molds from Ukraine?
I have several that I have to spray with PAM every couple pours. They make a pretty nice bait for the price though.

how to choose where to fish
Occasionally weather will dictate where I go (usually wind). Often I choose where I want to go by what I'm hoping to catch. I don't often go to lakes where the chance to catch a big fish isn't good even if I might be able to catch a lot of fish, I'd rather catch just a few quality fish or at least have a good chance at a big one. Sometimes I choose because I want to catch smallmouth, or wipers, because they don't exist in all of our lakes so I'm limited to a few lakes that I can fish. If I want to fish a specific type of bait then I'll select a lake that sets up better for it. This time of year it's pretty easy, find the ones that aren't solid

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
When the weather is nice, the fishing will be tough at the power plant lakes, bank on it. January through March are prime time for me to catch the big ones for me. I get bored with the white bass really fast. They're not very big out there and the spines, gill plates, and strong desire to try to put a hook in me makes them pretty unappealing. Wipers on the other hand, I love catching, but they're always tough to locate.

Chatterbait I made
The ones I make with the blade directly on the wire I pour with the blade on the wire. Had to modify the mold but it works well.

Backlashers Hotwater Shootout, they do several each winter. 20 boats fished, 8 fish were weighed. Not sure what the winning weight was.

What's a good ultralight line?
I tried the 5lb, it's extremely thin and seemed to wind knot very often and was impossible to untangle when that happened.

Post a photo a day!
Sometimes we need a reminder to pay attention and read the labels, I got mine. I love ice cream, and I thought I had bought some seasonal hot chocolate (cocoa), and caramel flavored ice cream. So I was a bit surprised when after the first couple bites, my lips were burning. I don't know who in their right mind wants spicy ice cream, but I guess if I'd paid more attention to the package, I might have noticed the red pepper and the label that said the ice cream was spicy. More than a little disappointed with my purchase.

What's a good ultralight line?
Ultralight lines are going to be limp and thin or they're not going to work on UL gear with UL lures, it's just how it has to be. I'm not a fan of the really small braid, I prefer mono. DAM Techtan is excellent line if you can find it. I use the 3.5lb on my UL.

If you're referring to my post, they're all largemouth. I was at Parker City Lake, no spots in there.

Please help me identified lure brand. Thank you
The hooks and finish screams mass produced Chinese factory bait but they don't usually have any identifiers like a stamped logo on them.

What are your fishing goals for 2019?
I've fished them quite a bit. The trout pit has state records swimming in it, but they're very wary in that super clear water. I live 30 minutes from the best big bass factory in the state anyways.

Post a photo a day!
Had an unwelcomed guest start tearing our yard up a couple weeks ago, tunnels running all over the place. I was going to buy some traps, but 10 minutes of off the leash time in the yard is all it took for psycho dog to unearth him. Biggest mole I've ever seen.

What Is Your Strangest, Unintended Catch
Pretty sure it either broke a tooth off in the joint of my index finger or it did some kind of damage to it, still hurts to bend it all the way.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
This little warming trend has everything opened up. No need to go to the power plant lakes right now if you don't want to. Slow down, nothing moves fast in cold water including the forage. Barely twitching a small jerkbait and slowly bumping a Ned along caught several for me this afternoon. No big ones, but they're all fun this time of year, especially when you have the lake to yourself knowing the warm lakes are bumper to bumper.

Rods in cold weather...?
I fish all winter long in our extreme cold temps and even with the moisture from the steam coming off the heated water freezing to my rods I don't break rods.
-
What's your current favorite lure?
Currently it's a jerkbait, specifically a Death Drop 115, and a Zoom Magnum Finesse worm on a 1/8oz shakyhead. Those are pretty much the only 2 baits I can get bit on the the last few weeks so by default, they're my favorites ?

Whopper Plopper Split Ring
Tie direct, no benefit to adding a ring or snap plus it adds weight to the front.

What are your fishing goals for 2019?
Break the 8# mark in Kansas, something I've been trying to do my entire life but never managed to do. Spend more time fishing with my boys.

Bigger baits....
I fish both big baits and standard equipment most every trip. I throw the big baits on high percentage areas most days but I will fish them all day long too. It's a different mindset, kind of like muskie fishing, it's not for everyone for sure but it's addicting for some. I've caught so many fish in my life that I've got to the point I'd rather try to catch a big one instead of a bunch of little ones a lit of the time.
