Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I purchased a 1000 yard spool of 12lb Seaguar Invizx from Amazon and it does not look like what I have purchased in the past. It doesn't look like it is spooled  very well and there is no Seaquar silver sticker.  Also, there is no level wind logo on the front.  The line seems like it's FC but it's hard to tell for sure. Can any of you guys tell if this is fake?

  • It's supposed to be on the 1000 yd spool perfectly level like this. That's one of the selling points.

  • Looks like someone spooled a few reels then returned the line to the seller. Tom

Hmm, I would assume it's good but I have the exact same spool of line and same lb test at home and it looks much nicer than that. It's wound perfectly and had the seaguar sticker on the spool.

Probably not counterfeit but another type of line to fool you.

Check out how reputable the seller is with the understanding that relatives and friends make the good posts for the sellers.

And maybe the seller decided to sell the line after he removed the sticker and he did not like how it felt.

You can also contact Seaguar and ask them.

Hope you did not get ripped off.

Yep, that's how my spools look.

Well I clicked on the amazon link you provided and then clicked on "other sellers" and this was at the top of the list.  Never heard of selling used fishing line.  Could this be what you received?

Don't know what that is - but it looks like a mess.

A little more that 1/2 price - perhaps too good to be true

I'd be returning that one ASAP.

Amazon Schmamazon........I honestly feel better buying on eBay.   Amazon listings often have one model#/upc code and pictures of another item.  I’m sure they have a good return policy but I just don’t have confidence in buying from them.

Amazon routinely offers bulk spool pricing on quality line (all types) that is seriously below most Anything out there.

Been taking advantage of this for a while and the incident documented here is the first time I've seen or heard of something along these lines.

I do agree that E-Bay is also a fantastic source of supply where many killer deals can be found on all sorts of gear.

But you may not want to totally write of the Amazon thing completely.

(and the two-day shipping is pretty sweet !)

I have a 1000 yard spook direct from Seaguar that was spoiled on their new spooling machine. I’ll take a look for it and try to get a pic to compare.

Yea, I have given up on Amazon at this point.  So so much bootleg stuff and they let sellers get away with refusing returns.  PayPal is still heavily  weighted towards the buyer and it's super easy to return stuff or get a refund.

**** Update ~  Timing is everything !

I JUST received (like 2 minutes ago) 3 spools of Tatsu purchased from "Poor Fish" at Amazon.

Totally Bogus !  No factory seal - all 3 're-spooled' - complete mess.

Already boxed for return & refund along with a nice little note to Amazon & the seller.

Going to need a different source of supply for my bulk spool line needs.

Fairly disappointed but not surprised.

And Yes - PayPal is the way to go for your internet shopping needs.

I ordered fishing line from amazon a few time. One time I got line that been obviously used, the lebel got poked in the middle and no sealed. Just a week ago I order what supposed to be 4lb bulk spoool but I got 6lb instead. The manufacturer label obviously show 6lb but UPC sticker for 4lb go figure.

I think a lot of ppl that work for amazon distribution centers are fisherman, I also ordered Senko Kit a few years back and I got what was unsealed box with all the 4” Senko missing.

Lucky Amazon customer service is top notch, everything had been resolved pretty quick.

The idea of selling used fishing line is pretty funny to me. Anyone need some used diapers or used chicken skin????

Holiday gifts!

Selling used fishing line is just plain sorry.

It sure is - and what might be even worse is my sorry carcass order it !

I do not think it was used - just replace with an inferior (insert Cheaper) product).

When I purchased the spool it was $67 and was listed as new.  After contacting Amazon and getting a refund, they have changed the listing and deleted my review.  They also let me keep the spool.

I have tried to contact Seaguar and have had no luck.  I got nowhere with the 800 number I was able to dig up and I also emailed them but no response.  I tried a few obvious things..... I cut a piece to see if it sinks or floats> It sinks immediately. I tried burning a small piece> Supposedly if it is real FC, it will not drip when it is set on fire.  I also compared it to a 200 yard spool and line looks different but I am not really sure how to describe it.

Here is another weird thing......  This is a pic from Tackle Warehouses website.  It looks sort of like what I received.

The line I got & returned was from 'Poor Fish' a vendor on Amazon, it was clearly 'REPACKAGE' something - I don't know what - nor do I care.

But IT WAS NOT FACTORY SEALED like every spool I've purchased in the past - regardless or where.

So there's that.
