  1. I like the Decoy Quattro hooks on my big swimbaits. They even look at the bait funny they'll be stuck.
  2. I use copoly for cranking for the abrasion resistance. Red Label has less memory than CXX, but memory isn't a big deal with a moving bait.
  3. Everything I try to post from the website is blocked by Photobucket
  4. Leadfreejigheads says you can get weedguard holes poured in by request. Football Heads - Ultra Point XS Wide Gap These 1/4 and 3/8 size football heads are made with Mustad Ultra Point heavy wire wide gap hooks for those that prefer an upgrade quality strong hook. They are cast with full solid body heads, but can be made by request with hole indents for gluing in weedguards
  5. Photobucket no longer allows post to 3rd party sites unless you're paying their fees. I stopped using them completely because of that.
  6. It's possible, but it's a pain to do. I just did a Google search that came back with several different websites with lead free jig heads, including some without weedguards so you could tie them and then glue your own weed guards in place.
  7. Partially because of where I fish, zebra mussels make crankbaits about impossible anymore. Mainly, I just don't enjoy fishing them and they're rarely the most effective bait for me on a given day. Despite all that, 2 of my top 5 biggest bass I've caught in Kansas were on cranks. Kind of like the quote from Quigley Down Under "I said I didn't have any use for them, didn't say I didn't know how to use them".
  8. Several are jerkbaits, I love jerkbaits. They're mostly pretty popular lures, so that helps too. I didn't always dislike crankbaits, I use to carry 4 boxes of them in my boat, but zebra mussels and fishing pressure has made them mostly useless. I'm still a study of the sport, even the parts I don't really like.
  9. The "XTM" baits are the H2O Express store brand from Academy. Their whole lineup is solid. It's hard to tell without a closer look at a couple of them, but here's my best guesses. Strike King Series 1 ??? Strike King Series 5 or 4 Strike King KVD jerkbait 300 size Strike King KVD HC Flat Side 1.5 Bomber Fat Free Shad Rapala Husky Jerk size 12 or 14 Strike King Lucky Shad Could be a variety of baits, it's a 1.5 size though 110+1 jerkbait, maybe Megabass Strike King KVD jerkbait 300 size Could be another H2O bait? H2O deep jerbait
  10. The Pline is okay, but not a line I liked personally even though I like most of their offerings. You might be able to use the Vanish to hang pictures or something, it'll probably still break doing that though.
  11. I actually did improve with a drop shot quite a bit. The biggest game changer for me was putting a wacky rig on a drop shot. I have a ton of confidence in a wacky rig, so that helped me stick with the DS longer. I still hate crankbaits, but I have no real desire to change that.
  12. The Great Lakes would be the obvious choice, but I'd be looking for a guide with a bigger boat no doubt. Maybe fish with a guide on the Great Lakes for a couple days and find some smaller water with big fish potential the rest of the time as a back up in case the big water isn't an option?
  13. Welcome!
  14. This, their honeycomb series that is long discontinued I believe.
  15. Love the Booyah frogs. I 100% do not need anymore frogs, and I will 100% own some of these frogs.
  16. My wife's family owns a rock quarry like that. About 5-6 acres and loaded with 1.5lb bass. You can easily catch 100 a day most trips, but every once in awhile you set the hook into a fish that stops the rod instead of moving immediately like all the rest. I haven't been out there since my boys were born but I need to take the oldest now that he's old enough to stay interested for a few hours if they're biting.
  17. You can find similar ones on Aliexpress. I buy them to make my direct connect bladed jigs that are very similar to the Jackhammer, except they cost me a couple bucks to make instead of $17 at the store.
  18. Tires came in today. Almost looks roadworthy now.
  19. My wife loves KC Joes. It's pretty decent, but not my favorite. I like the smaller BBQ joints, especially any that have good burnt ends There's a place down by Table Rock that makes BBQ Nachos that I could probably eat every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of them.
  20. If I was in the market, I'd be buying a new set of Guidewear from Cabela's.
  21. I use the ones I make pretty exclusively.
  22. I use the ones that catch fish for me. Durability and vibration aren't of big concern as long as they're catching fish. I wore a brand new War Eagle out in a single day 2 years ago, but it had close to 100 smallmouth and white bass on it that day, so I felt like I got my monies worth. I still have the first War Eagle I ever bought, and it still catches fish. I'm sure it can't have many left in it, but I'll fish it until it gives out on me. I have Booyah spinnerbaits with dozens of fish to their credit that look like they could catch many more too.
  23. Where's the rest of them? I love jigs, and the fact that I make my own really feeds the addiction. I carry 3 3700 boxes of jigs, each spot has at least 10 jigs jigs in it, sometimes more if they're small enough to fit more.
