  1. It was actually a hopper fly I was just dropping around the cattails.
  2. Largemouth are more homers while smallies are roamers as a general rule.
  3. I've used a 200B for smaller baits, but step up to a 300E or 400 Calcutta for the big stuff.
  4. This is what I've done with all mine. Easy to do and although setting the keepers is a pain, it's worth it for how much longer it makes the trailers last.
  5. Nice fish! I had planned to night fish last week but changed my mind when the wind didn't lay down like it was supposed to. Night fishing in 20mph winds is not a good time.
  6. 5.5-5.75, I caught 2 very fat smallies that were 20" that were both 5. One was stuffed with a big crappie, the other was full of eggs, so abnormally fat. That fish looks pretty fat, and an inch longer, that's how I got my guess.
  7. Sorry about the car man, but at least it sounds like you're okay!
  8. @BassB8Caster not sure if you're still looking, but if you are. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spro_BBZ-1_Rat_Replacement_Tails_2pk/descpage-SBBZRT.html
  9. Been watching the deer behind out house all year. Had a bachelor group with 1 nice one and one stud by our pond a couple months ago. The grass is too tall to see very well now, but I set the feeder up and put out 2 blocks by my salt lick that's pretty worn down from being out all summer next to the food plot. Got a buddy whose boy is going to try for his first deer on our place this year, shouldn't be a problem. I have a couple picked out for him, I think this little guy would be a great first deer. This is one of the decent ones I got a picture of this summer. There's a much bigger deer behind him in the next picture, but it's really hard to make out. I had a better picture of him and lost it somehow.
  10. My mom's side of the family is mostly farmers, with one of their specialties being watermelons. My cousin said their 4 acre patch was ready to go so I put my request in, was rewarded with a dozen monster super sweet watermelons. I've given half of them to friends, but I'll greedily guard the rest, with my life if need be, until I've consumed them all. This giant was almost 30 pounds, and I've eaten almost all of it in 4 days.
  11. The marinas are usually pretty decent with plastics. I've done well on channel swing banks out there also. Perry is more of a quality over quantity lake. I go there hoping for a few good fish, but not many numbers.
  12. I help run a small circuit of Thursday night tournaments for a small group of guys locally. The biggest lake we fish is 4k acres, but only 3 of the 10 or so lakes on the schedule are over 300 acres, most are under 200 acres and as small as 100 acres. Some of them are won doing the same things in the same area most of the time, others it's a different technique and area each time.
  13. These for the 90's in #6 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Treble_Short_Shank_2X_Magic_Eye_6pk/descpage-GETX.html These for the 110's in #2 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-VMCTERMINAL.html?from=basres
  14. It doesn't look impressive at all to me. If I bounced off the bottom of the boat that hard, I'd probably need a minute to get back up, and my body is built to protect my internals way better than a bass' is. I'll swing them, but I'm catching the line and keeping the fish off the carpet. Kind of ironic when some guys get all bent out of shape about someone keeping a fish to eat, then treat the fish poorly while landing/handling/hauling them.
  15. Make my own. Still trying to figure out when to use them, but starting to make a little sense of them.
  16. I'm constantly tinkering with baits. A lot of them don't work out, but once in a while I'll knock one out of the park.
  17. I fish the larger one on a swinging football head.
  18. Sounds like you'd be better off with a C-rig or split shot rig for what you're wanting to do. A dropshot is more of a vertical, precision presentation to break out once you've found the fish.
  19. Does it look anything like this Terminator jig with a wire bait keeper? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/brandjigs.html?from=basres
  20. I'm not a fan, but I can understand why some are.
  21. I've seen it happen a few times, but it's usually more like break them off in the morning, go back later in the day to the same spot and catch them. I've been going straight braid with the little rig quite a bit lately and haven't seen a noticeable drop in productivity.
  22. This fish wasn't even 4 pounds and choked an 8" Hudd. Hit it on the fall like a senko even.
  23. Not actually my house, but, something like that. Lane is a city in Franklin County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 225. Lane was originally called Shermanville, and under the latter name laid out in 1855. It was renamed Lane in 1863 for James H. Lane, a leader of the Jayhawkers abolitionist movement, who served as one of the first Senators from Kansas.[7][8] Lane is the site where in 1856, John Brown (abolitionist) and 4 other of his followers hacked 3 pro-slavery men to death with broadswords near Pottawatomie Creek. The event is commonly referred to as the Pottawatomie massacre. Lane was a station on the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
