  1. No, you're well over twice what the rod is rated for. A lot of guys are fishing those spoons on swimbait rods.
  2. I carry 4 main colors in topwater; bone/white, black, chrome, and bluegill. Also have some clear for fishing clear water for spooky fish.
  3. I've been using a 4.8" Keitech Fat and having good success.
  4. I bought a lot on a private lake yesterday morning and fished for a little bit from the shore. Water was very clear and lots of rocks an docks, not something we see much in Kansas. Had 3 hits on a smaller Shine Glide, caught one, hooked a heavy fish on a shakyhead that came unbuttoned. Should have the boat registered and a boat ramp key by my days off next week to really give it a test run
  5. Right? Who wants to catch all those Ned rig dinks like these
  6. Use wire cutters to cut the hook if you really want it to come out as easy as possible. I've caught plenty of fish that were blind in one eye though, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  7. Bixhoma Lake in Bixby just southeast of Tulsa has some giants in it and good shoreline access. You have to get a day pass for $5 in City Hall, but it was pretty painless to do when we were there. I hooked a monster on a jerkbait that pulled off before we saw it, but it has DD fish in it.
  8. Welcome from a fellow KS member!
  9. Probably, that's what KDWPT does too.
  10. It doesn't glide very well, but most really small glide baits don't. The only smaller glide that I've found with decent action is the smaller Shine Glide. Our fish don't get big in Kansas either but they have no problems hitting 7-8 inch glide and wake baits.
  11. Not being able to palm it would make it a no go for me even before that crazy price tag.
  12. That's a very broad question. You might start by looking around at some articles and go from there. https://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/
  13. I wear half gloves all year long. Glacier Glove UV gloves during the summer, White River Fleece gloves during the winter.
  14. I like to use them on a shakyhead, or a T-rig and drag them slowly along the bottom and through cover.
  15. How much does this bass weigh? And if you guess less than I think it was when I caught it, you're wrong. I like that I don't feel like a lot of the list applies to my line of thinking, makes me feel like I'm doing something right
  16. Got the yak out to explore a new lake that just opened a few weeks ago and had a pretty decent couple hours.
  17. Nothing like that feeling when you catch a fish on a new technique and that lightbulb goes off in your head.
  18. What part of the lake are you fishing?
  19. I've bombed plenty of times, but the good finishes far outnumber those bad days. Nothing makes me want to get back out there as bad as getting beat. Kind of like a slumping baseball player, you got to just keep swinging, stick to the fundamentals, eventually you'll connect. I do a lot of reflecting, looking at what I did wrong and what I did right so I can try to correct it next time around. I've had a pretty poor tournament year this year myself. Let wins that were mine for the taking get away a couple times, made some bad decisions, tried to do some things that weren't my strengths, and lost a lot of fish. This last one I went out and did what I know works at that lake that I'm good at doing. Ended up winning and catching the big bass in the last 15 minutes because I stuck with a bait that I knew was a big fish bait and the conditions were right for it.
  20. Putting the rod that @.ghoti. built for me to a serious test. Reel was a 25 size Pfluegar Supreme XT spooled with 5.2lb Seaguar Finesse Fluorocarbon.
  21. The hopper bite was on at our pond this morning!
