  1. I just slow down gradually. If you come to a sudden stop the back of the boat will drop down quickly and the drag with slow the boat while the water you were moving continues forward and comes over the back of the boat.
  2. Flipping is really only for very close quarters and heavy cover, so it's pretty specific situations that you'd be flipping. Pitching is a longer distant cast but still very accurate and quiet if done correctly. Pitching to targets is one of my favorite ways to fish.
  3. I was thinking about going out there Thursday but I think I might venture down to Ft. Scott instead, especially if they're being finicky at MC. Good looking fish though and those fish really do like swimbaits better than most for some reason.
  4. Isn't it always the bigger fish that doesn't hook up?
  5. Same for me. I don't think it has near the benefits on casting gear.
  6. I still really like it. I use it until it starts to puff out, then I flip it on the spool so it's basically like a new spool of line. Once that end puffs out I'll just start trimming a few feet to get to fresh line until the spool gets low. I fish it a lot and have only put one new spool of line on.
  7. I think that ISG chunk might be what I'm looking for. I'm still looking for a more craw profile, but so far the best thing I've found that is as small as I'm looking for is a Southern Pro Crappie Craw at 1.5" long, but of course it's mostly bright colors for crappie fishing.
  8. I think it's a different species of snakehead that lives in the NE that grow larger than the Bullseye but I could be wrong. We don't have them here, just other wonderful invasives like zebra mussels, Asian carp, white perch, and Eurasian Water Milfoil.
  9. I'm sure I could and just use some extra epoxy. I'm thinking I can use some braided leader wire I have, double it over and twist the bent end a few times and see if I can pour like that without making a big mess and having too much trimming to do. Or I could pour with the weedguard pin in place and then JB Weld the twisted wire into the hole, but getting it to set perfectly might prove difficult and obviously much more time consuming than pouring with the wire guard in place.
  10. I've never fished those oversized cranks, but I'd guess it would probably do a decent job with them. I know a lot of guys are slinging them on light swimbait rods. Unless you're throwing a very large paddletail swimbait, then no you should be fishing them on something lighter. I fish mine on a MH/F similar to a T-rig or light jig rod.
  11. I take a lot of beginners fishing and almost always have them fishing either a wacky rig or Ned rig. Both take very little skill to fish, are very productive, and they don't even need to know what a bite feels like because of the exposed hook, a lot of times they just reel into the fish and hook them just fine.
  12. I prefer to use the lightest head I can get away with. Most days that's a 1/8oz but I'll go up to 1/4oz if need be. I have heavier football shakyheads I fish on a baitcaster, but I don't really fish them as much like a shakyhead as I do a standard football jig. I pour the heads myself on a 3/0 or 4/0 hook.
  13. If you're talking about @YoTone's fish, appears to be a snakehead.
  14. I understand the frustration, but you also have to understand the individuals you're complaining about are a select few in a group of mostly good and respectful people. Coming here to complain and insult a group as a whole is not going to do anything productive.
  15. I've used 2/3 of a 5" stick worm for a finesse jig trailer lots of times and it is a great trailer. Doesn't do much, but the fish love it. These are the jigs I'm tying that I'm looking for the trailer for. It's a 1/0 hook and 1/8oz head, very tiny jig. http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n500/bluebasser86/20170415_193014_zpssghzw5wo.jpg I have a bunch of these, but even the Bitsy size is almost too large. I might get out some scissors and do some trimming. Necessity is the mother of invention right? http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n500/bluebasser86/20170415_193235_zpsa4mylqyv.jpg
  16. Any suggestions on what to use for making a light wire weedguard and how to pour a jighead with one in it? I just got a Snootie jig mold in the small size (1/8, 3/16, 1/4). I got some light fiber guards, but even those are pretty heavy duty for the little jigs. I'd like to do a single, or double wire weedguard instead. This is the jig I'm going to be putting them on in the 1/8oz size. It's a 1/0 hook, so it's a very tiny bait and if I trim the fiberguard down as short as it needs to be, it's very stiff.
  17. I'd be headed to Kentucky or Pickwick. Never fished either and always wanted to.
  18. Congrats to you brother on his first LMB/New PB! Good that your persistence finally paid off.
  19. Just got a mold to make some tiny bass jigs, down to 1/8oz. I have some 2" power craws and 2.5" BatwingZ, what other trailers are everyone using on super finesse jigs like that?
  20. I know, I think it's pretty well known they work, I was just messing with you.
  21. I bought that shirt specifically for fishing the Wednesday nighters at Wyco lol.
  22. La Cygne was good Thursday.
  23. The day started a little slowly with me targeting spawning areas and only catching small bucks. Moved to prespawn areas and it was the right move. Using a jerkbait, small plastics, and a Ned rig, put together a 20.03lb limit and also caught my new PB wiper of 11.2 pounds on the jerkbait. One of those satisfying days where I was struggling and made an adjustment that really paid off.
