  1. First time a big fish eats one, you'll realize those baits really aren't that big compared to what they're capable of eating. Nothing builds confidence like catching fish, but you have to fish them to accomplish it.
  2. I've just started messing with glow skirt material and powder paint. I tied up up a couple jigs and bladed jigs that should glow bright at night. Didn't try them this week because of the bright full moon. I'll probably give them a try next week when it's a little darker at night.
  3. All night ops this week, too dang hot to be out during the day. Linn Valley was decent Wednesday night with a healthy 3 pound fish being the largest, minus the blue heron I caught on a wobbler Never saw the stupid thing until it leaned into my line as it was taking off from the dock. Line caught around it's wing and hook buried in it's side. Tried hard to get it loose with the lure retriever, no way I was getting within reach of that beak. Line ended up breaking so it has some nice black and blue bling hanging off it. My favorite night fishing spinnerbait, a black and blue with black nickel bladed War Eagle, finally broke when a smallie went airborne.Sunfish and bluegills out there are unreal out there, bought a new fly rod yesterday to make use of them . Tied on a buzzbait with about 3 hours left in the night. First cast sounded like someone dropped a brick in the water, almost glad that fish missed it because I doubt it was a bass. Sight fished 4 fish that were cruising below the surface and easy to see in the bright moonlight, pretty unique experience. Thursday I tried La Cygne. Water was high, dirty (couldn't even see the trolling motor head), and HOT (94 at the ramp at 10pm). Tried the dam, shad so thick you could walk on them instills little confidence. A full trip down the dam with 1 3.5 pounder and a drum to show for it didn't help. I bailed and went to Miola. Had a lot of fun catching fish on a buzzbait, BHW, frog, and flipping a pit boss in the grass. Had to leave the headlamp on to deal with the grass, which I don't like doing. One cast with the wobbler, I was looking down when my bait got close and saw 2 big glowing eyes right behind my bait. It spooked when it saw me, but it was pretty cool to watch a saugeye track the bait like that. Frog fish were just mad at the world, scaring me bad each time, which was weird since the buzzbait fish barely made a sound, I just felt them. Biggest was right at 3 pounds and 18" on the Code Blue.
  4. They have them on sale on their website anytime they remake a model. The Rage rods were on sale for $89 with free shipping for a long time. A buddy of mine called them and got 2 of them for $50 each with free shipping. I just bought a brand new Avid X at Sheel's for $120, most of their St. Croix rods were on sale. I had a hard time not picking up another LTB for $180. When they redid the LTB's last, I bought 2 of them for $250 shipped.
  5. They're a solid bait, much louder than the Crazy Crawler and they move through the water easier. I'd suggest getting the larger version over the smaller one. It's a noisy, obnoxious bait that I think really benefits from having the extra bulk of the bigger bait for added drawing power.
  6. On a boat? kayak? shore?
  7. I was a BPS Wednesday with the family. $30 was just barely enough for 3 packs of senkos at $8.79 a pack! I'd be looking for any of the cool, new stuff from Icast they might have in stock.
  8. If you're into making your own stuff you can buy the mold to make them too, but it only goes up to 9/16 oz. I pour and tie my own. It's a good substitute for a jig in the thick stuff.
  9. The 25 and 30 sizes, mainly the 30 for bass.
  10. They're my stick worm of choice. I like to stock up when they're on sale. They're great on a shakyhead too.
  11. I fish the YUM Mighty Worm that's very similar. I pour a swinging football head just for them with a VMC Monster Worm hook in a 7/0.
  12. White River below Bull Shoals. Go throw jerkbaits at monster brown trout. It's beautiful below the dam with a nice camp site. Mountain Home isn't far away and you can go to Flippin, AR, the home of Ranger Boats. You can always jump up on the main lake too if you have your boat.
  13. Every bite on a big bait is a victory, even when they're dinks
  14. I actually prefer the President to the Supreme. I had issues with the sideplates loosening on the Supremes that resulted in damaged internals. Have had zero issues with the Presidents. The Supreme XT is terrific however.
  15. Academy makes a 110 type bait that's labeled as a floater but actually suspends very well. I like to use them in nasty spots or when the wipers are eating jerkbaits so I'm not losing expensive baits on the hard pullers.
  16. Great eye for about anywhere!
  17. I use a 7' 3" H/F Ethos Micro, best frog rod I've ever owned and it's cheap enough I had money left for a spool of braid and a frog or two
  18. I have a 3 bank Minn Kota 330D that has suddenly started having the "Check Connection" light coming one for 2 of the banks. I changed out the fuses hoping that was the issue but doesn't look like it is. Connections look good but I guess I should clean them up still and see if that helps. Hoping it's not time for a new charger
  19. Booyah Popping Pad Crasher is one of my favorites. I don't think any frog will call them through the weeds if they're thick enough. Try adding some BB's or a worm rattle for extra weight/noise to help get the fish's attention.
  20. I caught 2 while fishing in Florida. They fight like crazy. I had fun catching them but I could see where they'd get annoying, especially as destructive as they are to baits. I caught both mine flipping grass and thought I had a monster bass both times.
