  1. I wouldn't bother. It's not a big bait and most fish hit it either head first or at the belly anyways. I didn't ever feel like i was missing fish on the 4" version with a single treble.
  2. http://www.trucktrend.com/features/1602-the-million-mile-2007-toyota-tundra/ After he drove his Tundra for 1 million plus miles, he was given a brand new one by Toyota so they can dissect his truck to try to make their trucks even more dependable. Closest thing I have to a picture of my truck. I've done oil changes and put new brakes, rotors, and tires on this fall. She's about to turn 100K in June most likely. All it has to do is top that and it will have done better than my F 150 I had last.
  3. Have not fished the first one, but with the H2O, I'd suggest removing the back hook altogether and upping the front hook 1 size. I haven't fished the smaller bluegill but it worked well for the bigger one that had the same issues.
  4. I rarely fish any other than my own homemade ones, which are the ones that GJM, Senko, and kickerfish1 are referring to. In all fairness, I haven't tried many others because I haven't felt the need to.
  5. Watch your line. A lot of the time I'll see a senko bite before I feel it, especially since I usually have braid on my spinning rod I fish them on.
  6. Seems like a good spot for a heavy drop shot to me. That will get to the bottom fast and stay there but you can work the bait in place until you decide to move it. It should be pretty resistant to snagging as well.
  7. When we were there for the Bash about a month ago, it was a C rig lizard that did most of the work for us. I caught a bunch on a Ned rig if you just want to catch fish. I agree that you won't need the jerkbait or wart though.
  8. I carry white flipping tubes from Strike King and fish them like a fluke. They can also be fished like a toad across vegetation and killed in the openings.
  9. We're entering into the post spawn period here in KS. Those fish are backing off the banks and sitting along the first drop near the shoreline, or even pulling off into the center of the pond if there's cover or structure for them to hold on. What kind of forage is in the pond will also dictate where they're located. Some pits have shad or shiners that roam around and the bass follow suit.
  10. I'm really liking the Savage Gear 3D bluegills. The bigger size puts off a terrific wake if you fish it just below the surface, but it's also 4oz so it's a lot of bait if you're just starting out. You have a straight retrieve bait, so next I would probably get either a glide or a wake bait. The bigger Shine Glide is a great bait, so is the S waver 168. The Duel Hardcore Twitching Ninja is a nice bait as well for a little more money. In the wake baits, the Spro Rat 40 or 50 are probably your best choice for a more affordable bait. The MS Slammer is my favorite, but considerably more money as well.
  11. I've met Big O in person twice at the Classic in Tulsa. Last time he joined us for dinner after he finished up at the Expo. Nothing short of a class act. He even took the time to talk to my buddy for over an hour about fishing Lake Fork because he was going down there the next month, and my buddy ended up catching his new PB following his advice.
  12. I had a 30-35 pound flathead catfish swallow a large circle hook and puncture it's heart, it was nearly dead by the time I landed it. It's the only big catfish I've kept in over a decade and I was really surprised to find that hook when I cleaned it.
  13. Welcome!
  14. Not really texposed, what I'm guessing he was referring to was leaving the hook point just barely exposed. I like to have a path cleared for my hook with the point just barely exposed to make hook sets a little easier. The main weeds I flip are water willows that don't catch on the point much as long as there isn't too much exposed.

  16. Welcome!
  17. These are why we can't drag them on the bottom in a lot of our lakes. If it's not those, it's all the moss on the bottom.
  18. BPS reintroduced a very similar bait last year. I bought several on sale last spring for $1.49. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPS-Swimming-Minnow-Rigged/product/1408290631375/
  19. I've been using Gliss on my Ned Rig rod since January and have not had an odd breakoff yet. Casting distance is incredible at first, but has reduced a bit with use. I'm using 24lb and it's actually been very strong, allowing me to land a 21.5 pound flathead catfish in about 5 minutes on a Ned rig. I'm using the lo-vis green currently, but I have 2 spools of pink, one for when the current line wears out and one for my wife's rod. I like to be able to see it and I'm using a leader so visibility isn't an issue.

  21. They're all done here. Tons of fry all over all the lakes I've been on recently.
  22. You can get a rod and reel that will do a lot of different things for relatively cheap. A 7' MH/F with a 6-7 ratio reel with 40-50 pound braid will fish your frog and buzzbait (along with T-rigs, jigs, hollow belly swimbaits, senkos, bladed jigs, spinnerbaits), just fine. Is it perfect for all those? No, but that setup is about as multipurpose as it gets. Then you can use your current setup for cranks, traps, and jerks and you'll be good to go.
  23. I think we can stop, this horse has been dead for awhile. LOCKDOWN!!
  24. This is the exact problem that I've seen with them. If the hook point is exposed at all, it will slice through the plastic and start catching on everything and quickly wallows out a big hole in the plastic, sometimes without even catching a fish. I've never bothered snelling a hook and never will until I start having a hard time hooking fish while I'm flipping. Not saying it doesn't maybe catch an extra fish or two when the stars align and the perfect textbook situation plays out, but I'm happy with my results and a Palomar is a lot faster to tie.
  25. It's an all day long bait for me. Not looking for numbers of fish with it generally, more looking for better quality. It will draw strikes in the middle of a sunny day, sometimes better than during lowlight conditions.
