Let's Talk Froggin
I was thinking smaller fish until I read the "Bass were on beds", part. Most likely you were dragging it over spawning fish and they were just slapping at it to get it away from their beds. The areas you said you were fishing sounds like bedding areas too.

Yep, keep them all in here if you can't already find what you're looking for there.

Personal bests?
Largemouth-10lb 2oz, Lake Commendero, Mexico, 8" Zoom Lizard in watermelonseed. I was reeling in to make another cast, fish chased it to the boat, released some line and it sank about a foot before my line stopped, whole fight lasted less than 10 seconds. Smallmouth-I've had 3 hit 5 pounds even on the scale, 2 from Milford Lake, KS. One on a 97MR Slender pointer in chartreuse shad, the other on a watermelon/gold/black Zoom Trick worm on a 1/8oz Slider head. The 3rd was from Melvern Lake, KS on an American Shad LC CBS Zero crankbait.

Dinosaur
Be careful, gar roe is poisonous and it's the time of year they should be spawning in your area most likely. I know lots of folks that love eating gar, most use a bandsaw to clean them. I've shot a couple monsters around here but never put them on a scale. So many Asian Carp anymore that it's about all I shoot if I go on the river.

Big game color
Whatever you want, they won't see it in muddy water. I use both clear and low vis green.

Mono, braid or braid+flouro leader for wacky rigging?
I'll use straight braid if I can get away with it. Otherwise, braid with a leader for me.

Spinning Jerkbait/wacky rig rod?
Not bugging anyone. Just stay close to the ratings, mainly don'tgo too far above the top rating and you'll be fine.

Spinning Jerkbait/wacky rig rod?
Assuming you're talking about spinning reels, the handles are interchangeable in almost all of then anymore. The Pfluger President is pretty hard to beat for the money.

Memorial Day Murph
If I tried that, I might as well write my own obituary before I started it. I'd need a scooter to get around for a month if I did 300 squats.

Kept a bass and regretted it??
I regret keeping one in my livewell for pictures. I caught a 4lb smallie on 6lb test and a light rod. It was an extremely prolonged fight and I wanted a picture but the wind was howling so I opted to finish out fishing the bank and get a picture when I was out of the wind. My livewell was small, boat was all metal, it was hot, fish was tired. After an hour, I finished out the bank and she done, color already leaving her gills. I felt bad, that's a really big smallmouth around here, but it's possible that fish may not have survived just from the fight anyways. I was near a fish cleaning station and there were guys already knifing a bunch of fish and they happily accepted one more. Last bass I remember keeping before that was the skin mount I have that died from being hooked deeply and wasn't going to make it regardless. I've kept quite a few for friends and co-workers out of lakes that badly needed some fish removed, never worried about those fish since it was helping the rest of the lake out.

The Crock-o-Gator Ring Craw on an 1/8oz Slider Pro head has been doing really well for me on a very tough local lake.

New (to me) bass boat problems :(
That motor should spin that prop better than that. Hopefully one of the prop/motor guys on here has an idea what it may be but I wouldn't be running it anymore until you figure it out what it is.

Spinning Jerkbait/wacky rig rod?
I have a 6' 8" M/F Academy Ethos that I use for jerkbaits and small cranks. I don't normally use it for wacky rigs but it would do it just fine. The rod I use for wacky rigs is a 6' 8" M/F Mojo "Wacky Style", so the exact same specs as the Ethos, I just have 2 rods because I like to keep both those style baits rigged at all times.

Usually I target largemouth, but I found some smallies.
Fun aren't they?

Lure knocker
I've done the old spark plug as well and it does work. Use a heavy casting sinker and a snap. Clip it on the sinker, then onto the line and slide it down. Hold the line tight so it slams into the bait when it gets to the snag. If that does work, jerking the rod gets the weight pulling back and forth on the line and will often work it loose.

Ozarks Help
I wouldn't have even thought about it but my wife works in insurance and told me to call them before I called a tow truck. It was a very easy process and saved me a bunch of money.
