Jig making start up cost
You'll be in the hundreds of dollars before you know it unless you buy 1 mold, a hot pot II, a few ingots, a small pack of hooks, a pack of weedguards, some powder paint, and a few packs of skirt material, plus the tools to tie the skirt and attach the weedguards. I don't even want to think of all the money I've spent on hooks, skirt material, molds, and all the little things that go with pouring jigs. I've been collecting since I was 16 though, so it's been spread out over time.

Jig Color
Some variation of green pumpkin imitates so many different prey items, including bluegills, it's pretty hard to go wrong with it.
-
Deep bass
Lots of our lakes are muddy and they pretty much stay less than 10' deep most of the year. You typically have to hit them on the nose with the bait so it greatly increases your chances of finding fish if you stick to skinny water.

Storing Zman baits (Direct response from Zman)
Best rule of thumb, if it's not a Zman, don't mix it with Zman baits.

Hookset catchphrase?
The boat rock, or the sound of reeling faster with tension on the line, or the rod slicing through the air fast on a hook set, all sure signals to get the net. I'm not patient about waiting for it either unless I can see they're obviously not hooked good. Pitching or flipping, that fish will be in the boat seconds after the hookset.

Braid for spinning gear
I have 10lb on a couple, 20lb on a couple, and 24lb Gliss on a couple. I like the Gliss the best of all of the, 10lb the best of the standard braided lines.

lost a nice one cos i used the wrong gear..
It almost seems like they know when you're not prepared sometimes doesn't it?

Favorite Fluke color?
The best fluke color is the one I don't have to fish, I have a serious disdain for fishing them. If I'm about out of hope and resorted to a fluke, there's a good chance it's Albino, or Arkansas Shiner though.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I like it to be dark as possible when I'm night fishing and just let my eyes adjust. I'm not fishing any slack line techniques at night so I can feel them just fine when they bite. I've heard it's cool watching your line glow like a fluorescent rope though.

Table Rock Advice
You don't really get a choice what you're targeting on Table Rock, you can catch all 4 kinds of bass the lake holds from one end to the other. If you fish around the dam (where taney is), you'll mainly encounter spots and smallmouth, but still plenty of largemouths and means there. Start as early as you can, an hour or two before sunrise would be great. Jigs or plastic on a swing head before it gets light, topwater if you're feeling adventurous (I don't like trebles in the dark). Once the sun starts to get up I like to cover water with a spook unless the fish aren't coming to the surface. Dragging a jig or swing head again will most likely be productive. A shakyhead or Ned Rig will always catch some fish. Bluff ends are usually a good place to pick up a fish or two. Channel swing banks or points should have some fish on them as well. I usually do better on the banks that don't look as exciting, gravel or clay banks without the big obvious rocks the lake is so famous for.

I lost a part of me today.
Everyone on here probably knows that my dog is with me about everywhere I go. She even goes shopping with me when I go to BPS because they let you bring your dog in. Kills me to think she's already almost 4 years old, seems like I just brought that clumsy puppy home yesterday. I know that day will come way too soon, and I just went through it last year with my old dog that I grew up with who was almost 19 when he had to be put down, it sucks about as bad as anything out there. I guess that just shows how great dogs are, we know that in the next 10 years or so, we're in for some serious heartache, but we keep bringing them home anyways. I feel for you C&G.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
It would be really easy to go to any of those lakes and not catch a single fish if it's tough. Add into that the traffic from big boats you'll have by then, it's going to be rough getting around past about 10AM if you're lucky. Stockton would probably be your best bet to avoid some of that and still have a shot to catch a bunch of fish, but they can shut down there and send you home with a goose egg just as easy as the rest of those. If you're wanting numbers and a bigger lake, I'd go to Milford. The variety out there is a lot of fun too, but that wind, just hope it's not blowing. You could stay at Wyatt Earp Inn in Lebo and have a 10 minute drive to Melvern or 20 minute drive to Wolf, along with a few smaller lakes in the area.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Bourban County State Lake probably the easiest lake out there to put 100 fish in the boat. Last time I was there by myself I had 100 in 4 hours with a 5lb 9oz fish being the biggest, but that was the only one over 18". Wilson County State Lake would be my pick for numbers if the water comes down, which it should be if the rain slows down. Melvern is obviously a good option too, but it's tough if the water is still up.

Storing Z Man plastics
Ahhh, yes I have no idea what might happen in that situation. Regular plastics seems to suffer almost zero effects when it comes in contact with the Elastech baits, but it's a pretty rapid and probably pretty violent chemical reaction that the Zman baits undergo, might just be capable of doing some damage if they were in contact with the wrong material during that time.

Quantum Throttle
I just got an Okuma RTX 25 not long ago because I wanted something lightweight with a high retrieve speed for drop shot fishing. I've been very impressed with it so far and found it online for $75. The slow retrieve speed is my only complaint with my Presidents.
-
Hookset catchphrase?
I think I tend to be pretty quiet on the hook set. Once a fish is on the line I'm all business.
-
Quantum Throttle
I'd go with a proven reel in that price range and get a Pfluegar President instead.

Fun weekend at home.
I'm simply not respondsible enough to live that close to fishable water.

Rat Baits
Are you sure they're throwing rat wake baits in heavy weeds? Or are they throwing hollow bodied rats in the thick stuff? I like to fish them around cover, overgrown banks, around edges, anywhere a bass is likely to be and the chances of a terrestrial animal being in the water are higher. I generally do best walking one slowly versus a steady retrieve. I feel like a rat or mouse is likely to be a little stunned or surprised by it's predicament when it ends up in the water and might not immediately take of swimming, so when my bait first splashes down I give it a few seconds to sit before I start twitched it so it walks side to side. After I clear the high percentage areas, then I'll do a slow, steady retrieve back to the boat. Most bites are either while the bait is walking, or almost immediately when I start the straight retrieve.

Sea Nymph Boats - Looking for reviews
My dad's boat is an older deep V Sea Nymph with a 60 horse Johnson. It's seriously underpowered with the motor on it. Doesn't get on plane, just plows through waves to the point you can get wet even with the full windshields. It's not a bad boat, but it would be much better with a bigger motor that could actually push the boat.

I've left them laying on the boat carpet before and never had any issues with it.

Today was a good day...
Yes, mine often does up several seconds after being shutoff.
