What line do you use for a popper?
I normally go with 10lb Big Game but I'm experimenting with 20lb Kanzen right now. So far I really like it. I don't have any issue with pulling the bait away from fish because I don't have to set the hook, I just crank when a fish hits and if it loads up I can lean into them. I caught one Friday that I'm sure would have broke me off because it hit my bait just before it cleared a limb and pulled it back down the other side. I was able to just winch her back over with the braid though.

Fishing Term's
Don't know about a dip but a cut to me is a small indention in a shoreline. Could be anything from a barely noticeable indention in the bank, to a small cove.

jig modifications
I honestly wouldn't suggest it unless it's done the way I, and most others I'm sure, have done it, accumulated the supplies over time. I started buying molds 14 years ago and usually add another 1 or 2 over a years time. Trying to buy it all at once and start pouring would be extremely expensive. If I hadn't done it that way, I'd just buy Siebert's and be done with it. I have no idea how he puts out the quality he does for the price he's asking. His jigs I've seen in person are works of art to the point I'd almost feel bad fishing with them.

jig modifications
I customize my jigs by pouring, painting, and tying my own.

best rod in this price range
h2o Ethos from Academy. You can get them on sale for under $50 sometimes. They're great rods for the money.

Frog Rod Sensitivity?
You need a rod with good backbone, but a good tip as well that is going to load properly when casting a frog and be responsive enough to allow you to walk a frog. You don't have to break the bank, but you don't want to just buy any broomstick either.

First Nighcrawler Bass
I use to fish live crawlers all the time for bass. I'd use 4lb test and a light rod with a #6 Octopus hook. Hook them once through the collar/band and fish them weightless. Caught some really nice bass along with a multitude of other species of fish doing that.

Favorite walking bait
Super Spook JR or a One Knocker Spook.

Ned or Tube for Smallmouth
Ned rig and smallmouth go together like PB and jelly, or a Rage Craw and a jig. I've never seen a bait that was more effective on a smallmouth bass than a Ned rig.

Favorite "follow up" bait
Senko or a Ned.

Line choice
You could use a leader out of flouro designed for leader material. It's stiffer and tougher than fluoro designed to be mainline. Personally, I don't think I'd worry about it though. It sounds like you're mainly going to be fishing less expensive, single hooked baits in that heavy cover. I think I'd just deal with the occasional bite off instead of the hassle of dealing with a leader.

Anyone else get spooked on Topwater bite?
My brother in law had a 36" muskie smash a buzzbait a foot from the boat as it was getting dark and we were back in some thick trees at a lake in the middle of nowhere. It was close enough it threw water all over both of us. That one got me pretty good.

Schooled by a Red Crankbait...
My first bigger bass of the year was on a custom painted Rayburn Red 1.5. I like red moving baits though, I even carry some of my bladed jigs with me in reds.

Australia killer carp
I'm sure there's some of you out there that have heard about Australia's plan to try to eradicate all carp with a form of the herpes virus. While I think the plan will probably fail miserably, I'm all for it if it produces any more gems like this.

Table Rock Advice
Big Cedar Lodge use to rent out bass boats, but I think I remember hearing they stopped doing that. Honestly, you're probably going to be able to hire a good guide for just a little bit more than you could rent a bass boat for.

Stand Alone Craw - Your Rig Set Up ?
Last Friday it was a Crock-O-Gator Ring Craw on a 1/8oz Pro Slider head. Also had one fish flipping grass with a Berkley Changeup with a 1/4oz bullet weight and a 4/0 EWG hook.

Braid for spinning gear
As thin as the 24lb is, I'm afraid I couldn't see the 8lb to tie it. I use to have 5lb Maxima on my dropshot rod, 24lb Gliss is actually thinner than that stuff is.

Trolling motor transducer mount
Possibly, but if that was the best way, wouldn't they still be made without a skeg? I've had some pretty old trolling motors, never had one without a skeg.
