I don't like having to try to dodge a bait that I can't see when someone gets over excited and sets the hook on the explosion.

That's the same I use but I pass the tag end of the Gliss through a few more times.

Weekdays are always easier for me. Now that Friday is my fishing day you can get a 3 day weekend out of the deal too.

It's a ways off still but February 13th is looking promising. I have my yearly training the following week so I have that whole weekend off.

Wouldn't be a problem for a few days of hunting, too much for one day though. Trying to save up that Canada money.

I won't even drive that far to fish one day.

7 hours driving for a 1 day hunt ain't happening.

I've used mine with a leader every time and haven't had a knot fail yet. I do a couple extra turns just to have plenty to hold onto and the knot is still noticeably smaller than it was with 832 or PP.

I don't buy it, but the leader material is much harder and more abrasion resistant than regular fluoros. Seems to mostly be saltwater guys and those that fish around toothy fish that use it.

Keep your eyes open for nice used ones that might pop up. You have to have cash in hand because they don't last long. I bought mine last year (Ocean Kayak Ocean Prowler II). Sells new for 1,300 with nothing, I bought mine lightly used with a nice Carlise paddle for $450. I was fortunate that the guy was willing to wait until the weekend for me to come get it, otherwise it would have been gone before I could get there for sure.

Going to be awfully cold Friday it looks like, with a brisk little wind to boot. I've gone in worse weather, but I'm not promising anything other than numb fingers and regret.

The Zman Project Z is a very nice bait for when I want a bait with a faster vibration. I prefer baits with more thump and being able to customize them to the color I like. Being able to chose the hook and head style is a plus too, which is why I started making my own. This was the color that did really well for me last year, but I switched to a translucent copper colored blade because the water was stained a lot last year.

I agree. I use a 6' 6" MH/F LTB for my bladed jigs and that's the closest rod I see on your list. I have tried a few different glass rods for them and did not like it at all.

They both go on sale frequently. I like the micro guide versions better. They're lighter, feel more sensitive, and I like the EVA handles. I've bought my micro guide Ethos on sale for $60 every time I've bought them and I've found the regular version down to $35. They're not always advertised, a lot of times it will be just one certain length and action on sale and it might not even be marked in the store, just have to scan them. The only issue with the micro guide version is I fish all winter and when it gets too cold, micro guides aren't an option once they start icing.

I've been using the new Gliss 24lb (which has a similar diameter to the 5lb Maxima I use for DS), and have been very impressed so far. Casting distance is excellent, knots haven't been a problem, strength has been great, and fraying has been a non-issue. I also picked up a spool of the new Sufix nanobraid but haven't tried it yet.

You could have 20's and snow or 80's that time of year, I've been there for both. Most likely, you'll be looking highs in the 60's with lows in the 40's with at least a slight chance of rain almost every day, but that's a good thing since they bite so much better with cloud cover there. Last time I was there was during the first week of April. All we really needed was jerkbaits and warts, but we caught fish on 3XDs, shakyheads, and football jigs also. First day we spent around Shell Knob and did really well about everywhere we fished. The second day we launched at Baxter and fished Little Indian. Anywhere with about a 45* bank with timber was producing fish steadily all day. The last day we launched in Schooner Creek and never did figure anything out, but we only had a couple hours to fish and the water was much clearer than we had been fishing. Depending on how fast it warms up, you'll be looking at either prespawn or maybe even some bedding fish most likely. I'd have plenty of jerkbaits and warts on hand. A-rigs could still be a factor then. I'd never go to The Rock without football jigs and shakyheads. Dropshots, and jigging spoons can be a factor. The swinging football heads with some kind of beaver/creature has been a big factor there that time of year the last couple years. I'd make sure to have some Ned Rigs in case the fishing is tough. You can't ever count out the chance of some topwater fish either. I love fishing Table Rock regardless of how tough it is.

I use 2 fast and 1 extra fast rod for jerkbaits.

I've been using a 7' MH/M Ethos and have been really happy with it, especially since I only paid $40 for it.

It's been a pretty hot topic across the country really. It's just a very effective way to catch fish at certain times. It's not really a tournament bait for the most part, although it can be great to fill out a limit when it's tough.
