  1. I caught a lot of fish on a Banjo Minnow
  2. Man, where's Fish Chris at? That guy takes some of the best nature and fish shots I've ever seen!
  3. I have several Ethos and one Sellus. Durability I would say goes to the Sellus but if an Ethos breaks you can take it back no questions asked so it's kind of a moot point. The Ethos is far and away the more sensitive of the 2. The locking nut on the Sellus also likes to back up so I have to tighten it down several times throughout the day while I'm fishing.
  4. I'll take 2 big ones over a bunch of dinks any day!
  5. Great looking fish, terrible camera angle to guess fish size. Just judging off the size of the fishes' head/mouth compared to your hand, I'd guess around 5 pounds. Length and girth measurements are a huge help in this cases. Or you could spend $2 on a digital scale and get an even better idea. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-40kg-10g-Electronic-Hanging-Fishing-Digital-Pocket-Weight-Hook-Scale-SC-/231714459851?hash=item35f34210cb:g:9mEAAOSw5ZBWFnJj
  6. Seems to be best during the middle of the day when you'd never think they'd hit topwater. I'm sure it would be a good night bait but I have a "no trebles at night" policy.
  7. It's a small, aggressive chicken, at least that's what it means to me. Probably referring to the weight though as in bantamweight.
  8. Welcome!
  9. It's like the old Heddon Crazy Crawler except it's even more obnoxious. Doesn't get a lot of strikes but when they do it's vicious and it seems to attract larger than average fish.
  10. I doubt you can keep that bread on a circle hook. Have you tried using the C-rig and keeping the line tight so you can see your rod move when you get a bite? Catfish are aggressive feeders that will swallow a hook quickly if you're not careful. They're also very tough fish and that's a little hook so you could just cut the line and release them. I prefer to go through the gills and retrieve the hook but if you're not comfortable doing that, you can easily do much more serious damage than you will by leaving the hook in.
  11. Swinging football head or a football shakyhead with the screwlock. Black and blue, cinnamon purple flake, and green pumpkin are the only colors I need. They're a good C-rig bait or on a T-rig.
  12. A 5" BPS Stick O if I could only have 1 worm.
  13. Thanks for the review on the Casitas. I've been kicking around the idea of trying one since I need another 6 ratio reel. Messed with one a bit in the store and it feels like it would do what I need it to do without popping for another Curado. I don't have a hard time believing they can produce a quality reel in that price range. Wasn't all that long ago they produced THEE reel at that price range.
  14. I have, and I think that's the problem. I think I might need to stop retrieving and start letting it sit. The only time I ever get a bite is after the initial fall, after the bait has been sitting for a few seconds.
  15. I've spent days and days trying, have a rod and reel just for DS, fish some lakes that have good DS bites (Table Rock, Beaver, Bull), just can't make it work regularly.
  16. Ditto
  17. I don't believe there was a tournament last year that I didn't catch a wobbler fish.
  18. I wonder why there's no 70XG Scorpion? Like that high gear ratio but I can't even begin to do left hand retrieve.
  19. Those goldcast are basically bulletproof.
  20. Maybe I move it too much, it's very possible anyways. Hadn't ever thought about the craw on it, I always just go with a little worm and call it good. I can catch fish on the C-rig, I just hate doing it. Full sized creature baits have always been the ticket for me with those. The old Strike King Wild Thing was a great C-rig bait until it was discontinued.
  21. I can't catch fish on a dropshot, just can not do it. Not sure if it's just not an effective option on our lakes or what, but I'd like to get better at it.
  22. I could see for something like fishing jigging spoons or other deep water, vertical presentation, but that's it.
  23. We have no seasons. If you can find water to fish, you can fish it. There's seasons on paddlefish snagging, and some lakes that stock trout close for a few days after they stock the trout to allow them to disperse, but that's it. I fish at least one day a week all year round.
  24. It's a very different technique from shakyhead fishing and it's very worth learning if you fish for smallmouth or clear waters.
