  1. Every time I say I'm not going to buy anything.
  2. I have a great video of one getting destroyed, but I'd have to beep out most of the dialog to post the video
  3. Did my wife send you? I'm not that stupid.
  4. I like fishing them on spinning gear to use lighter line and get them down deeper, or so I can switch to my right arm and give my left wrist a break.
  5. A #2 or #3 dressed Agila was one of my favorite baits as a kid because it would catch anything. I liked the natural squirrel tail with a chartreuse blade.
  6. A very slowly, and softly twitched suspending jerkbait is always my go to pond bait right after ice out.
  7. They have faster and slower reels as well. I bought a Manic this past winter in a 7 ratio and have liked it so far. Not sure the exact lb drag the Mettle has but like I said, it worked for flipping grass in Florida, so it must be fairly stout. Getting parts is the only bad thing about them, but I haven't needed any yet.
  8. My preferred C rig is the one I don't have to use. If I've given up all hope, and resorted to the ball and chain, I'll be dragging a brass, glass, clicker combo.
  9. I've still never met anyone that wasn't sponsored by them that felt like they really offered any kind of advantage anywhere.
  10. It's too much hassle for me to do regularly, but I'm not afraid to admit that I do use livebait for bass from time to time. Not going to lie, if I catch a new PB on livebait, I'm going to be just a tiny bit disappointed, but I'll get over it.
  11. I tried. It's super light and very buoyant. I couldn't get the weight right in it to make anything work right so I ended up junking it.
  12. They've coexisted for a long time before we decided that bowfin were bad for the bass population.
  13. The white streaks in front of my Guidewear are big, fat snow flakes.
  14. I don't like straight braid for moving baits, or around hard surfaces like rocks or shells because it lacks the abrasion resistance. Braid is good for contact baits like jigs and t rigs and you shouldn't need a leader in muddy water like what you're describing.
  15. Same thing I use in grass that isn't around docks, a Pit Boss. One thing about grass that is around floating docks, bass love to suspend under them even more than normal because of the extra cover. I've had great success fishing frogs right against those docks.
  16. Man, they'll start stocking trout around here in about a month and a 1/8oz Little Cleo is one of my best baits, I gotta try this. Where do you buy the nickel at? Do you form it any after cutting or just leave it straight?
  17. 24 volt system and at least a 70lb. I have an 80lb on 18' 9" Stratos and it's about perfect. The only thing that 45lb 12V system is going to do is let you down.
  18. I have 3 of the H2O Mettles. They'll outperform most any <$100 reel. I even used one to flip weeds with braid in the Everglades on vacation last year and it did it flawlessly.
  19. Any of the phantom colors are good. Green craw and Molting craw are good also. I agree with finding the dirtier water (which is a relative term on Table Rock). Something with a nice greenish tint to it and visibility less than 10' usually makes for a much better bite for me.
  20. I did not like mine. Much happier when I stepped up to a Bull Shad instead.
  21. I've been through 2 sets in 2/3 years because the seams keep coming undone. The zippers suck and velcro came off the strap on one of my wrist so now my arm gets wet when it's raining and the strap is always flapping around and getting stuck in my reel or in the way when I'm changing hands during my cast. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. I had a set of Cabela's Guidewear for over 10 years and they were still going strong. Unfortunately, I bought them in highschool and "outgrew" them.
  22. Had one of those good trips to Academy Thursday. They had 2 Daiwa Arid 100HS's in stock for $26 apiece! I bought them both, kept one for myself and passed the savings on to GJM to get us both ready for the tournament season
  23. Just a couple inches but the 1/4" of ice below it makes up for the lack of snow.
