  1. The Spooks and Super Spook Jr's both sit very high in the water and walk over waves very well. The 128 R2S Rover sits pretty high also and does well in rough water, but I take off the feathered back hook to help remove the drag. The Heddon Spit-N-Image sits high in the water and probably doesn't get fished a whole lot. The Rapala Skitter Walk is another one that sits high in the water, not sure you can still find the bigger ones but they were a good bait that cast a mile and was very loud.
  2. From a couple weeks ago. Bladed jigs is another common name for chatterbaits.
  3. I keep thinking with the 2 power plant lakes that I have close by and fish almost weekly during the winter time that some northern guys will get bit by cabin fever bad enough to do it but it hasn't happened yet. I went Thursday and caught a bunch of hybrids and white bass along with a couple largemouth. This was my second largemouth of the new year.
  4. They have weekly sales. Their lower end rods are on sale this week at the store by me. I check their website every week for their weekly sales. Haven't heard anything about a big sale coming up though.
  5. I have a 7' 8" Mojo "Big Crankster", that has been an excellent deep cranking rod for me. I keep it pretty simple for deep cranks, mainly because our lakes lack depth for the most part anyways. The Strike King 5XD and 6XD carry the vast majority of my deep cranking workload. I also use the Little Jon DD, Bandit Ledge 250, and Fat Free Shad a little bit. I don't carry many colors because I don't feel it matters much with deep cranks in our stained to dirty water. I like the green gizzard shad and chartreuse/blue back.
  6. A natural translucent color American shad bone dealer's choice
  7. I fish a lake that sounds very similar to that, minus the power plant part. It's really just dumb luck a lot of the time for someone to stumble into a fish bigger than average (1.5 pounds and up at this particular lake). The lake I fish also doesn't have shad. I've found that the few bigger fish are either gill eaters or cannibals. They also don't waste time chasing little stuff, because they don't have to with all the available food options around them. Bluegill or baby bass swimbaits, bigger cranks, bulky jigs, and bladed jigs account for all the bigger bass I've caught from that lake.
  8. I've been slowly stocking up on pork and hoping that someone will decide to take up the void left by Uncle Josh
  9. Backing it doesn't really matter. Now if it were a leader I like to try to keep it close to the same diameter.
  10. I'll just stick with my biggest fish from my home state of KS.
  11. Right there with you. I walk past a free gym every day leaving work, no excuse for the weight I've put on. Got back down to what I weighed in highschool last winter before I let myself go again, have to get back at it. If for no other reason, I want to be a good example for my son and be in good enough shape to enjoy as much time as possible with him.
  12. "Winter" Great fish, your winter looks alot like our fall
  13. If we're just talking bass, 1/2oz black brush jig with a sapphire blue trailer. If it's one bait for every kind of fish 3" Berkley twitchtail minnow in Smelt color on a 3/32 oz mushroom head.
  14. It doesn't. I've always had the open invitation to anybody on the board to come to Kansas and fish with me. So far I've had zero people that weren't from Kansas or Missouri take me up on the offer. That's to fish out of a bass boat and not having to pay guide fees.
  15. A guy can dream.
  16. Welcome!
  17. Apparently my 100 mph suit is also no longer waterproof I fished in the rain all day today and my arms were wet by the end of the day.
  18. I always found the kids fishing books to be full of misinformation. My favorite reading books by then we're BassMaster and In-Fisherman.
  19. Coffey County and La Cygne.
  20. I'll be out in the rain tomorrow. I've got an emptyseat if anyone wants to be miserable with me. To add to the misery I'll probably be at La Cygne.
  21. It should be the same blank, handle is probably different and they switched the serial numbers around. It's still a LR (lightning rod) 601M (6' Medium) S (spinning). They just moved the location of the S in the serial number.
  22. I fished them on a 1/16oz jighead for smallmouth and did very well.
  23. Love me some Hank III
