  1. I agree with trying a spook. I like a Super Spook Jr and walk it as fast as I can through the boils, a baitfish swimming for it's life isn't going to be taking it's time. I used to spend a lot of the summer chasing schooling fish on the surface and still do on occasion, this was by far my most productive technique. A swimbait or grub on an open hook jighead will work well also.
  2. Those two man. If you pull onto the launch ramp and block a lane you'd better to be ready to launch. I had guys park their pontoon at the top of a single lane ramp at a local lake last week, then they got out to unstrap it, load their gear out of their truck into the boat, and who knows what else. Luckily they were far enough from the ramp that I was able to do some fancy backing and get my boat launched real quick (I was actually ready), parked and left while they were still screwing around and blocking the ramp. I won't even try to back down if someone has their lights on. I'm not going to be responsible for backing into someone because I was blinded by someone else's lights. Headlights do nothing when you're backing up so why have them on?
  3. I was fishing one on the bottom in 30+ feet at Beaver lake a month ago and catching fish. Using a 1/16oz head with 10lb braid and 8lb leader. It takes a long time to get down there, but it didn't have to sit down there long for the most part.
  4. I used the 10lb white Nanofil on my Ned rig rod for a long time and still would if I hadn't gotten a steal on some PP super slick. The stuff cast that little rig a mile and helps with strike detection and hooksets.
  5. I have a Topknocker still in kind of a holographic pearl color if you're interested.
  6. I use a 4/0 most of the time so a 5/0 will be plenty. I prefer a 1/4oz head if I can get away with it.
  7. Are you holding your phone vertically when you take your pictures? Mine does that when I hold it vertically. Most phones you can rotate the picture after you take it though.
  8. I wouldn't be nearly as effective on the water without my Garmins.
  9. I've used neither Spwire or Spiderwire fluoro and have no intentions to.
  10. Yes she was. Don't even remember what she weighed, but one of the biggest I've caught from that lake for sure.
  11. Switch to the night shift. Fish bite better, it's more comfortable to you, and there's typically less people on the water.
  12. I have a Garmin Virb Elite but I use a 12V adapter and plug it into my boats cigarette lighter.
  13. Night fishing and fishing a spinnerbait for smallmouth or spots are the only time I'll use a trailer hook, even then I don't use them all the time though. Just try to tell yourself it wasn't a bass. I've seen all 3 species of catfish, huge drum, carp, big wipers, even snapping turtles caught on spinnerbaits night fishing for bass.
  14. Looks nothing like a spot to me. Even with the mouth not closed to measure how far back it goes, the mouth is way too big. Coloration doesn't look right either. Largemouth all the way to me.
  15. I like fishing them on a swinging football head during the summer time and dragging them. Don't expect every fish to be a big fish, or even bigger than the worm at times.
  16. BPS here carries it. I have a few bags and they all look like PB&J to me.
  17. Lots of jigs with red out there, just have to look past BPS to find them plenty of custom guys out there too that will do whatever color you want for a fair price. Get in touch with Mike at Seiberts and I'm sure he can hook you up.
  18. Sounds like maybe the split ring, or whatever attaches the blade to the head, is binding and causing it to roll. I've had it happen with my baits if I tried to use too thick of a split ring.
  19. Learn to back using the mirrors if you haven't. That turning around and backing stuff is just fine until you have to back a trailer behind a big SUV. It's much easier to see an empty trailer behind you using the mirrors than trying to look over your shoulder as well.
  20. That sounds really good, if I could only make my tastebuds like fish Maybe next time I catch a walleye I'll have to try it. How long did you soak them in the dressing for?
  21. Chris has a serious aversion to fishing a Ned anyways but with all the rain and dirty water they were up in the weeds eating creature baits this day. Apparently, the sunfish were as well.
