Tube Jigs In Kansas
I catch quite a few fish on tubes each year, either on a jighead when I'm after smallmouth or on a T rig if I'm after largemouth. I had some big ones on tubes last year.

So I Cant Get Bit With A Spinnerbait/chatterbait
Both of those baits have been big producers for me lately.

Post Thunderstorm Fishing
Agree with the bladed jig suggestion. I've been doing well around here with all the rain we've been having with one as well. If the water isn't too dirty I've been getting them with a golden shiner colored one with a translucent gold blade. In dirty water, I've been getting them with this one with either the orange or a black blade. With the bluegills flooding the shallows, and the bass either still on or just coming off beds, this bait is getting hammered while looking like a little bluegill working the edges of cover and weeds.

Saw A Small/medium Gator In Stevens Pond
Could it have been a beaver or muskrat? We've had them found in KS too when people release pets that grow too large. Last one was a few years ago at a powerplant lake, found it dead in the winter. That one was over 6' long, big enough to have been a problem if the water had stayed warm enough to keep it alive.

Boat Owners Worst Nightmare
I watched that happen at a light several years ago, still remember that crunch. I would not trust that hull after that kind of an impact, as much as your buddy might want to and as much as the insurance company isn't going to give him for it. I've had some people barely dodge my motor in bad traffic or follow super close. Someone hits my boat I have now and I may end up seeing what it's like from the other side of my job.

Lb Thrust
65 will be big enough, just make sure it's variable speed instead of the 5 speed. There's too big of a difference in power between 4 and 5 on any of their 5 speeds IMO. 4 isn't strong enough if it's windy, but 5 has you zooming past everything so you have to constantly get on and off the motor.

Is It Unusual To Catch A Lot Of Sm Bass?
At one of my favorite lakes that's predominately smallmouth, if I catch fewer than 50 fish in a day trip, I'm disappointed.

Crappie Fishing
This. Rig it on a 1/32oz head, although I prefer a clip on bobber set at about 2'. Cast it out, let it settle. If nothing happens then give it a light twitch, set the hook at any extra movement of the bobber as crappie will often attach from below, causing the bobber to just rock or lift up instead of pulling under. You'll catch crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish, pretty much whatever is in the pond doing that.

Most Sensitive Co Polymer Out There?
While not technically a copolymer, Sunline Defier Armilio fishes very similar to copolymer but handles like mono but has lower stretch. I've been fishing it on my jig rod for a few months now and have been very impressed. It's similarly priced to fluorocarbon, so if savings is what you're after then look elsewhere. If you want a line that handles like mono, transmits bits like fluoro, with the abrasion resistance of copoly, then you might want to give it a look.

Rc Stx Win/fail
I fish a lot of STX jerkbaits and haven't had any problems with the split rings since they switched them. I've never fished one with the stock hooks, they get changed to Owners before they ever touch the water.

Any Of You Guys Fish A Jig Like This?
That is also when they're the easiest for a bass to catch as well as all their defense mechanism are useless while they're flipping away. I normally start out dragging a jig but will switch to a few quick, short hops of the rod tip when I think they're really targeting craws.

Storm Swimbaits
I catch a ton of bass on the Wildeye shad, along with lots of white bass and wipers. It really shines in moving water because it can be fished a lot faster than most other swimbaits. One of the KC area guys had a 9 1/4lb largemouth on one this past winter in fact, about 2.5 pound off our state record.
