  1. I use a Peg It to peg my weight when flipping in cover but I don't peg it when fishing more open water situations. I must have bad luck because I've seen and felt my sinker seperate from my bait lots of times. Sucks making an almost perfect pitch at a hole in the grass, just to watch my sinker fall through while my bait bogs down in the weeds. I never peg a weight with a tube either, kills most of the spiraling action that makes them appealing.
  2. Yes it effects the amount of vibration, how much they hunt, and how deep they want to run. Those baits give more thump while baits like the Zmans have A faster, more steady vibration. The Rage blades are nice too, kind of their own category too since the design is so different. They have to be fished very slowly, which I think is why so many had problems with them at first. I've been playing with the undressed one for awhile and like what it's done so far.
  3. The blades and heads are powder painted. The heads are dipped, the blades I hit with an airbrush.
  4. It will catch fish, but it's not anything special as a fish catcher. I'd probably save it in the package just because it belonged to your grandpa.
  5. I just leave mine hooked up, back it in until it starts to float, unhook it and shove it off or back it off with the motor, no rope needed.
  6. Hack just seems like a cool dude! He's really intense and focused while he's fishing, but still almost always seems like he's having a good time.
  7. So far it's this dude. I lost two that day that were both bigger though. No big deal, I'm going to catch a bigger one than that before the end of the year.
  8. I landed a 50-60lb grass carp on a 168 S-Waver with St-36s without straightening them. I'm sure a 3X would maybe be okay but I'd be worried about messing up the glide of the bait, especially since it's a smaller bait.
  9. Prayers for your mom and family.
  10. Agreed. Mine outcast my other Curados, but I have to stay on my toes (and thumb), to keep from getting an overrun.
  11. There should be an asterisk there, because I had a boat, it was just a far cry from what I wanted. When I got the green light from the wife, it was still about 6 months of reading up and shopping around before I found "the one".
  12. I bet a big glide bait would move him.
  13. The new Project Z baits are very nice, a much needed improvement from the original chatterbaits. I make my own and it's pretty rare I don't have one tied on. Since I started painting blades it really opened up a ton of options.
  14. Nope, you'll be perfectly fine with that size line, just set your drag correctly. I fish a 6' 10" ML/XF with 10lb braid and 8lb fluoro all the time with no issues.
  15. Everyone needs at least a couple War Eagle Finesse spinnerbaits. They're just a killer little bait. War Eagle is about the only spinnerbait I fish. Mouse, Hot Mouse, Spot Remover, Lavender Shad, Chart/white, white, coleslaw, and sexy shad and I'm set. I have lots of different sizes and blade configurations/colors, but those are my main colors.
  16. You can buy Pfluegar President combos at BPS for cheap enough to have money left over for line and a few baits.
  17. Are you fishing the bigger size or smaller one? I have some of both but the smaller one doesn't want to talk very well. Thinking I might take the dressed treble off the back and see if that helps. The big ones walk nice, haven't gotten on a good bite with them yet though.
  18. Personally, you're much better off buying one or two quality, proven baits than buying the cheapest baits you can find and hoping one works. I tried the Kickin Shad, never again, and I like most of the Storm swimbaits.
  19. Smallmouth seem to run in schools much more often than largemouth do in our lakes.
  20. Our lakes are almost all full at the very least. Some are several feet high now but they're letting water out fast for the upcoming holiday weekend. I'm hoping the lakes in the western part of the state got the same rain we got as they were by far the lowest.
  21. Don't know about the BBB but I wouldn't go on out without some Rage Craws.
  22. Mine are on 100% of the time and I'm constantly looking at them for any clues to help find the fish.
  23. I haven't seen a fast sink model but they have a moderate sink that sinks probably twice as fast as the slow sink. The 6" version is a nice little bait that draws fish of all sizes in. I especially like the floating version because it has a great gliding action if you just give it little twitches like you're walking the dog.
