  1. Looks very nice! I always get nervous when I start modding a mold.
  2. I like it when there's a good stain to the water. Considering that the color Toledo Special (Netbait), is pretty close to Okeechobee craw, I'd guess it's probably a decent color there.
  3. If I could have one topwater for smallmouth, it would be a bone super spook jr. I see no reason to carry anything other then bone, clear, and something reflective/baitfish colored.
  4. For the baits you listed I wouldn't be super worried about a leader hurting the action much. What I would be worried about is that 30lb braid
  5. I find that to be especially true on bright nights.
  6. A majority of the time, this is the same setup I throw mine on.
  7. They do work in the summer but never seem to be nearly as effective for me. Once the algae blooms start and the water murks up there are lot better options.
  8. I've got one in black that has been crushed a bunch of time by 1-2 pound fish.
  9. 4" Swing Impact on a 1/4oz Bullet Head catches everything that eats other fish.
  10. Love that color, I about popped for one last week, probably should have
  11. Had our first tournament of the year tonight. My partner and I threw almost nothing but my homemade ones and ended up winning with 14lbs 11ozs and had big bass of 4lbs 14ozs. I caught all our bigger fish on 2 colors. If you like the baits with the blades attached directly to the eye, the new Project Z chatterbaits are solid baits, much better components and better built than the originals.
  12. I have no idea. When I find the cheap baits attached with poorly tied knots to a giant, cheap brass snap swivel clipped onto a popper, I get those ones. When I find stuff like that Megabass 20' up in a tree that wasn't even overhanging the water, those ones leave me a little bewildered. I find a lot that are floated up into the weeds or along the shoreline also, usually late in the season when the shoreline weeds die down and they can be easily spotted.
  13. I stepped on a ground hornet nest bank fishing in the dark once, that was a bad night.
  14. One of my favorite ribbontail worm colors, don't see it very often though.
  15. Telescoping lure retriever man. I fill boxes of baits each year to guys who apparently haven't heard about them. Just this past Tuesday I got a Rapala Deep Shadow Rap, Rapala Husky Jerk, and a Livetarget Bait Ball squarebill out of the trees. Yeah it's a $40 investment, but I almost cleared that in those 3 baits. Take a day like the one I had last April on Table Rock when I pulled a 100DD pointer, 100 Pointer, and Megabass Magnum 110 out of the trees and it's paid for itself almost twice over.
  16. I have no idea what having a bad day on the water due to tackle has to do with the spawn??
  17. The Ned rig is pretty much everything a typical bass fisherman is against. It's a light bait, doesn't do much, you're not supposed to feel it, the hook is small, the list goes on. The main thing that it does is catch fish, period. If you happen to be around smallmouth then it's really going to shine as they seem to not be able to control themselves around it. Oddly enough, as simple as it seems, it's a technique that really takes some time to master though.
  18. One of my main jerkbait combos was $30 for the reel (H2O Mettle), $60 for the rod (H2O micro guide). I have some cheaper ones, but that's the cheapest one that's on the front lines.
  19. Leavenworth, like most of the halfway decent lakes in the area, does get a lot of pressure. I've seen 20 boats out there on nice evenings during the summertime. It has a good population of fish though and I expect we'll still see plenty of fish, maybe even some good ones.
