  1. That looks like it would be a killer white bass bait.
  2. It was 50 Friday for a high. Today is supposed to be 23, feel like 15, and snow. Thinking I might start putting stuff in boxes when I get home and just move to Texas or somewhere that stays warm and the fish grow bigger!
  3. The disturbing thing is they're fished right next to my St. Croix LTBs and one has even beat out an Avid for my starting jerkbait rod . I mostly use them for moving baits when sensitivity isn't quite as important though. My LTBs still get the call for bottom contact style baits.
  4. Wow! A 10lb 9oz smallmouth?? I'd love to see a picture of that one! I have no idea what bait has caught me the most fish, but it's likely the same bait that catches my biggest fish because I fish it so often, which is a jig.
  5. I love summer because night fishing!
  6. I agree that they're a pretty versatile bait. I catch fish on them in all water colors, around all different kinds of cover/structure, water depths, and in a wider range of water temps than I think most people probably fish them. I also use a few different retrieves but for the most part a slow, steady retrieve is my most successful. I fish them just fast enough that I get the blade vibrating, a lot of times it will even be bumping along the bottom. Another good retrieve is stroking it or pumping it off the bottom. I fish with 3/8oz 90% of the time. I make my own so I really get to play with colors a lot, especially since I started painting the blades also. Some of my favorites are; Green pumpkin/black blade Baby gill Black and blue This color I call spicy shad, kind of a firetiger, with a black blade. and this one I call Sexy Momma Some of the biggest fish that have been caught on my baits have been caught on my crappie color. Black on black is a really good color. Pink and chartreuse (funky chicken) seems to do well during the summer months after fish have been seeing different variations of white/chartreuse for months. I just started making a chartreuse shad color that got fished for the first time Friday, I think it's going to be a hit Also excited to try out my new T-rock color. I have dozens of other colors in a Plano box of nothing but bladed jigs, but one of those colors will catch a fish anywhere if they're at all interested in bladed jigs.
  7. Most tournaments have an 8' length limit so that would be on potential reason. Rod lockers not holding rods that long like others said would be another potential reason.
  8. I own 8 of them, great rods for the money, especially if you get them on sale like I always do. Most of mine are their lowest end rods that you can get on sale for $40 pretty often and they have all done what I needed them to do.
  9. Pit boss, Rage Craw or Menace, Senko, jig, baby brush hog.
  10. A jig, heavy cover, big rod and line and big fish.
  11. That is actually on kilograms in that picture, because it's supposed to weigh in pounds and ounces only. As long as they all start on the same weight! One thing I might suggest is getting some of the plastic, locking fish grippers to hang on your scale, much easier than trying to get the fish to hang on the scale and if they're on the hook when you turn it on the scale won't weigh them too.
  12. I make 1/16, I don't know how you could pour a smaller head, just not enough lead to cover the hook and screwlock.

  14. Welcome!
  15. They should put smallies or spots in Douglas, maybe they'd eat all the largemouth and turn it into a better fishery. Deep, rocky, clear water, seems like it would be a good option.
  16. I've actually heard from a good source that the population is doing very well out there now with fish nearing the 18" mark not uncommon.
  17. Pretty tough to beat a Pfluegar President in the under $100 range. I'd probably be looking at the 25 size in your situation.
  18. I'm not sure that's actually a line tie? I believe it's only function is to hold the spinner on the shaft. I'd think if you were going to try to put anything behind a Little George you might be able to fish a small grub or bucktail?
  19. What techniques do you primarily use and what are the bodies of what you fish like as far as clarity, structure/cover, ect?
