Trying to not lose my passion for the sport
Welcome! I'd get back to the basics, which it sounds like you're doing. Just go fishing and keep it simple instead of trying to jump back into it right where you left off. I've been fishing my whole life but still enjoy catching bluegills on nightcrawlers with my kids a whole lot.

Trolling motor length
I have a 2012 Stratos 189 VLO with a 45" Maxxum and would never have a use for a 60" motor. Only thing I could see is if you're fishing big water and worried about it popping out of the water frequently. I've got a 24V 80lb Maxxum on mine and it's plenty for me but if you have the means to and don't mind pulling wires, nobody has ever complained about having too much trolling motor power.

Just take the leader off and fish straight braid ?

Finesse Jig question
I tie some of both for myself. The flared skirt slows the fall while keeping a small profile with little action. The full skirt has a little more action and falls faster if the skirt sizes are similar.

St. Croix Victory "Marshall" vs "full contact finesse"
This was the Full Contact Finesse I was fishing in this video.

St. Croix Victory "Marshall" vs "full contact finesse"
I have the Full Contact Finesse. Mainly use it for jigs and T-rigs in that weight range and it does it well. I have not used the Marshall.

Fish Finder for a Kayak
I just upgraded mine this winter to a Lowrance Elite7 TI2. I've been very happy with it so far after getting some initial issues worked out (first unit I bought had a bad head unit but they replaced it no questions). As far as SI working on a kayak, this was my first time out with it. Found a boat on the lake by my house I never knew was there.

How Do YOU Find Fish?
Find a marina, dam, or bridge, I'll find some bass.

That sickening crunch under your foot
What was it?

Store brand lures that work better
H2O Jerk shad and 1.5 squarebills are both well worth the money.
-
Traditional Ned Rig, whose given up and now just fishes Ned sized baits
I pour my own with #1 and #2 hooks, even have some poured on #6's.

"All purpose" Glass Cranking rod
If you can swing it, I'd second the St. Croix Legend Glass. The MH would also work for fishing bladed jigs.

New st croix bass x
I've only used braid on mine and had no issues.

First tourney (softball) of the year
Congrats to all of them and you!

New st croix bass x
I've got a 7' 1" M/F spinning rod that I've used for several months now that I really like. Mostly used it for very light T-rigs and Flukes, does both well. They're much lighter and more sensitive than the older models.

Need a replacement ML spinning rod
How old was the Premier? I think they have a 5 year warranty don't they? The new St. Croix Bass X rods are really nice and well below your price range. There's a 6' 10" ML in that line up.

Midwest finesse mold...
I use the #1 Lil' Nasty hook in mine. I horsed a 20+lb flathead into the boat in ~5 minutes on one without breaking or straightening it, they're plenty stout for what your intended purpose is provided you're using the appropriate equipment.

10,000 Fish Head Hunter
I've got 2 and have not been able to buy a strike on one. FWIW, I can't get bit on a Dark Sleeper either.

Cool find
Cool! We've got a whole thread dedicated to these kind of cool finds.

Anyone ever skip a spinnerbait?
It can be done with a good trailer on the back, but you're going to have some bad backlashes too. A bladed jig is a way better option for skipping.

recommend some deep diving cranks + colors to buy
Strike King 6XD in Green Gizzard Shad and chart/blue are about the only deep cranks I need.
