  2. ANYONE? :D :D http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/20090617.html http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/scoreboard?d=2009-06-17 8-)
  3. Hey Branuss, thanks for sharing. So many of us are touched by cancer of all kinds, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't had a family member or friend afflicted by this terrible disease. The St. Louis Komen race has been around 11 years now, but it took me until my sister was afflicted with breast cancer before I participated. And now I can't imagine not participating every year. It's truly a special experience.
  4. This past Saturday (June 13th) I, along with many family and freinds, participated in the 11th annual Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure. The St. Louis race/walk is one of the largest in the country. This year's event had 66,136 registered participants (and countless others), and included over 4,700 breast cancer survivors. All total the event raised $3.25m towards the cure for breast cancer. And our team raised $1,375!!! This is our third year participating, having started just after my sister finished her treatments for breast cancer. She is now a three-year survivor, and a true inspiration to our family and all her know her. Most of our team walks, however several of us, including myself, run the 5k route. I crossed the finish line with my niece and her fiance (both half my age!) at 28:32. It's one of the most gratifying and emotional experiences of my life... each year that I do it. Following are a few pictures from race day: Our awesome team... 32 strong! Me, the wife and kids From near the starting line at 14th and Olive Looking back toward the starting line The home stretch
  5. Definitely "Seven" for me for an entire movie. And the hobbling scene in "Misery" is one I still cannot watch.
  6. Toasted Ravioli: http://toastedrav.com/post/8245_the_story_of_the_toasted_ravioli/feat_video http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toasted_ravioli
  7. Congrats to the Pens, that's awesome... but let's not get carried away with that last statement
  8. My thoughts exactly... I wonder if the same repeated infractions by a school with less of a tradition would result in a harsher penalty :
  9. The company I work for has a distribution center in Lynchburg, VA and on a visit to there a couple years ago we did a small company-sponsored outing to Bedford to see the memorial. It's a very moving experience, as is the WWII memorial in DC.
  10. Ludwick, Ankiel and Duncan are 10 for their last 72 AB's... that's a red hot 0.139 BA
  11. Had it done a couple years ago... it's no walk in the park, but there are many things which are much, much worse. My main advice would be to follow doctor's orders to a T and do NOT over do it. I've heard too many stories of guys thinking they were just fine and began normal activities, but really weren't healed up and ended up with jewels the size of grapefruits. As for sex being better, well, not sure if I'd exactly explain it that way... but the relief of A) you or your partner not having to mess with protection and not worrying about reproducing again probably relax the mind and allow for "better" sex. Of course, as with most things in life, it's not totally and completely 100%, but it's about as close as it gets. Good luck my friend!
  12. Only five? Dern near impossible, but what the heck: SRV and Double Trouble Zeppelin Black Sabbath AC/DC Van Halen ...and many, many more!
  13. One of my favorites in the lesser-known category is Blues Hog: http://www.blueshog.com/website/main.html For a "big name" sauce I really like Sweet Baby Ray's. BTW, I just ordered some Gates to see what all the fuss is about 8-)
  14. x2... Your doctor should be able to recommend something, either Rx or OTC.
  15. And to be safe on all fronts be sure you never take Tylenol or eat peanut butter or eat pistachios or eat spinach or buy Firestone tires or buy Evenflo car seats or.........
  16. Hey Dock Master, Bausch & Lomb makes allergy relief drops called Alaway. At one time they were by prescription only, however now are over the counter. Use about 10 minutes prior to inserting contacts. Tom
  17. Good Lord, why did you post that? I make it to 0:30 and had to stop
  18. Yea, we fished mostly up Little North Indian and North Indian creeks, and then down past the dam to about Beardsley. Have also gone down to Cow Creek, but not on this trip. The rental boats (which are very inexpensive) only have 50hp motors, so we tend to stay relatively close and stick to places we are familiar with. Tom
  19. We stay at Boomerang Resort. It's just west of Indian Point, basically in the first cove as you enter the mouth of Little North Indian. A very basic/inexpensive resort (note: "resort" used loosely). But it suits our needs just fine. Thanks, Tom
  20. Charcoal for sure, but one with gas ignition, such as this: http://www.weber.com/grills/default.aspx?glid=4&mid=25
  21. With the weekend almost upon us I found this on a Memorial Day tribute website and thought it was worth sharing: --Adorning the graves of the soldiers with flags or flowers. --Visiting cemeteries and memorials. --Furling the American Flag at half-mast until noon. --Furling the 'POW/MIA Flag'. --Keep silence for a minute at 3 p.m., 'National Moment of Remembrance' and listen to Taps being played. --Take a pledge to aid the disabled veterans, widows, widowers and orphans of the dead and keep it. --You may support the efforts to restore the traditional day of observance of Memorial Day back to May 30th. --Offering thanks to the veterans and appreciating the ultimate sacrifices of the soldiers to the bereaved families personally may help too. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE - Kelly Strong I watched the flag pass by one day. It fluttered in the breeze. A young Marine saluted it, and then he stood at ease. I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, He'd stand out in any crowd. I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil? How many mothers' tears? How many pilots' planes shot down? How many died at sea? How many foxholes were soldiers' graves? No, freedom isn't free. I heard the sound of TAPS one night, When everything was still I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times That TAPS had meant "Amen," When a flag had draped a coffin Of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands With interrupted lives. I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington. No, freedom isn't free.
  22. Sorry for going back to back, but.....
  23. I posted these in the My Tournament/Outing section, but thought I would re-post here for the Central guys who get down to the Rock. Fished the Rock last week with several guys, our annual trip/friendly tournament. Total weight for the trip wins. I came in third with 23 lbs 4 oz. Winner (Matt) had 26 lbs. 4 oz, second place (Joe) had 25 lbs 10 oz. Here are some pics: Me with two nice smallies, the largest going 3-4: Me again with a nice 2-14 fish: And me again with a couple more: Matt with the big fish for the week, weighing in at 4-4 (Matt and Joe hit a hot spot that evening, with Matt landing 5 keepers and Joe 4): Me with a few more from Thursday: Matt again with a couple real nice smallies, the biggest around 3 and a half: Don with his biggest keeper, this one coming in at 3-7
