  1. Fished the Rock last week with several guys, our annual trip/friendly tournament. Total weight for the trip wins. I came in third with 23 lbs 4 oz. Winner (Matt) had 26 lbs. 4 oz, second place (Joe) had 25 lbs 10 oz. Here are some pics: Me with two nice smallies, the largest going 3-4: Me again with a nice 2-14 fish: And me again with a couple more: Matt with the big fish for the week, weighing in at 4-4 (Matt and Joe hit a hot spot that evening, with Matt landing 5 keepers and Joe 4): Me with a few more from Thursday: Matt again with a couple real nice smallies, the biggest around 3 and a half: Don with his biggest keeper, this one coming in at 3-7 Tom
  2. Holy cow, Needemp, what a trip. But at least you can fish those docks now.
  3. Hey Basscrazy, I definitely love to fish and I'm in St. Louis, but with three kids (10, 8 & 2), and all their activities, work, stuff around the house -- you get the picture -- I don't get out nearly as much as I would like. My 8 yr old son is really getting into fishing, so I try to get out with him when I can to small lakes which aren't too far away, even if just for a few hours. No boat here either, we fish from the bank.
  4. LOL... Unfortunately there was a similar "movie" in my past, but thankfully it's history -- both the marriage and the video. Just rec'd Ben Button yesterday from Netflix, the wife and I plan to watch it this weekend.
  5. Thanks Glenn... guess I need to pick up some C & R!
  6. Great testimonial... I use Please Release Me, just curious how different its formula is from Catch & Release? Or are they basically the same?
  7. The Godfather (I and II) Silence of the Lambs Dirty Dozen *But like many have said, so many good movies it's very, very tough to say I only have 3 favorites.
  8. Sweet...!

  10. Zoom has a shakey head worm out, it's relatively new and, surprisingly it's call the Zoom Shakey Head Worm : They flattened the end that you rig on the jig head... http://www.***.com/descpageSFWZOOM-ZSHW.html#pImage
  11. There are really only two kinds of beer, and both have already been covered........... cold or free! Everyday: Budweiser Change of pace: Bass or Bud American Ale
  12. Growing up it was only 2%. Now me, the wife and kids have been drinking skim for several years.
  13. One series certainly doesn't make a season... but 13-6 is a pretty good start, especially for a team the "experts" gave no chance to do anything, again. It's no surprise to us, with a manager that everyone loves to hate who routinely gets more out of his players than anyone in baseball.
  14. That's great... Congratulations!
  15. Spanky, I'm very sorry for your loss, and grateful that you had the strength to share this with us. I grew up with very loving parents, but as the youngest of eight my father wasn't really ever involved in the things I did growing up. I don't begrudge him, but will not do that to my three children and try to do as much as I can with them, including fishing. Thank you again and God bless. Tom
  16. That's great Goggle Eyes, glad your son pulled one in... maybe it was the one my son caught? LOL By the way, funny you should mention he used a Mepps. I got hung up and lost one on my very first cast of the day Saturday... not a good way to start off. Needemp, the water was pretty stained, but I wouldn't say muddy... of course, that was before we had all that rain Sunday. I don't recall seeing a boat ramp anywhere. There was a guy cruising the lake in a float tube, though, it's a good size lake for that.
  17. We parked in the lot nearest to the lake (not the one near the pavilion) and took one of the trails right near where we parked. We bank fished very close to where the trails lead to the lake, there are quite a few small trees and stick-ups coming up out of the water from the bank out maybe 30 feet. Lost several lures to those buggers, but all worth it to see my son catch that fish!
  18. LOL... I was thinking the exact same thing, but couldn't bring myself to ask
  19. Wow, that is a pig... great fish!
  20. Hey Needemp, great fish... and definitely a pig! Goggle Eyes, I took your advice and checked out Unger this afternoon with my 8-yr old son, my brother-in-law and his son. We fished for about 2 hours in a very light off and on drizzle. We caught a few bluegill, a couple decent sized crappie and a couple 6" bass. However the best came from my son. He had moved about 50 yards down the bank and I hear him start to yell "Dad, I've got one!". Well, he hooked into a nice bass throwing a Husky Jerk on an ultralight rod. He was so excited, and I was even more excited for him! The bass was about 13"-14" and maybe 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. My brother in law took a couple pics on his cell phone, so I'll post one once he figures out how to download it. BTW, I think my son was just as excited to be the one to let the fish go, too!! Thanks for the tip on Unger, we'll be back. Tom
  21. Drink: Water and a sport drink (Powerade, Gatorade, etc.) Eats: Clif Bars (peanut butter & oatmeal raisin), jerky and bananas. Clif Bars are all natural and a great energy source.
  22. The Phillies broadcaster, one of the greats of all time, dies at the age of 73: http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20090413_Phils_announcer_Harry_Kalas_rushed_to_the_hospital.html I can only imagine him, along side Jack Buck, Harry Carey and the others in baseball heaven, sharing stories.
  23. So cart, I get the impression you're not into bass fillets, eh? Me either, too many other better tasting fish around than bass.
  24. Cart, I don't own a boat, so I'm limited to bank fishing. Can you suggest any parts of Simpson which are better than others for fishing from the bank? Also, how is the population at Simpson for bluegill, sunfish, etc? Thanks, Tom
