tankless water heaters
Man, perfect timing of this post, as I too am considering replacing a conventional 40 gallon gas water heater. mattm, what are your thoughts, in general, regarding the gas ones? Also, any suggestions or recommendations on brands to look into? Thanks!

2009 The Pennants are flying and the Trash is almost in view!
SI.com does an interview with Tom Verducci, who co-authored the book, about how the book was conveyed by the New York Post... and apparently other sources, based on the Fox Sports article linked above. According to Verducci, "Joe Torre does not rip anybody in the book". For what it's worth: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/01/25/verducci.qa/ Sorry Wrong Answer My apologies, I haven't read the book, was just going by what the co-author said. Curious, was it a good read?

mann's hardnose worms
Not a very good worm to use with a finesse/shakey head jig, the kind with the spiral lock on them. Otherwise, not a problem to t-rig.

Just picked up the four Mud Bugs below. Sizes are 3-3/4", 3-1/2" and 3". Was wondering if anyone has used them, and if so, how deep will they run? Thanks, Tom *Edited so pictures would be easier to see.

Making a Website...
We used homestead.com for our athletic association web site. Nothing fancy, and based on feedback we will continue to make adjustments, improvements, etc... but it has worked for us. Check it out: http://www.stambrosesports.com/ Tom

Who else does this?
I haven't exactly lived a sheltered life, but I must admit I have never heard of this practice Of course, never been much of a soda/pop drinker, and I usually only eat peanuts when I'm at a ballgame having a beer. Is it one of those regional type things?

Super Bowl Trivia Story
I certainly can't vouch for every detail of the story, but as RW notes, much of it is true. He did work as a stock boy, Brenda had two children when they met (one with Down Syndrome), when they married he adopted those two kids and had two more children of their own. And of course, that little thing about the SB victory and MVP's are true also... :-) I've had Rams season tickets since they moved to St. Louis and was at the pre-season game where Rodney Harrison hit Trent Green low and ended his season... and brought us Kurt Warner. I vividly remember the post-game interview by Dick Vermeil, with tears welling up in his eyes, saying "we will play good football with Kurt Warner". Wow, one of the all-time understatements. What that team, with Faulk, Bruce, Holt, Pace and others brought to Rams fans was magical, but Warner was the leader, and ran that offense like a machine. Kurt Warner is such a great person, one who not only professes his faith, he lives his faith. He has done so much for the less fortunate in St. Louis, and continues to this day, even after having been gone for all these years. It's hard for me to chear on the Cardinals considering the way Bidwell ran the team while it was in St. Louis, ultimately taking them to Arizona. But with Warner as the QB, I will for this one game.

Dropshotting my way
Bizz, great post, thanks much! I've really been wanting to give drop shotting a try this year, especially at Table Rock, where it's very clear and the bite can be tough. Your insight has really helped increase my knowledge of this technique, not to mention my confidence... Thanks again! Tom

AC/DC Concert
I saw AC/DC live last night at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Now, I'm not a musician, I know very little of the technical side of music and have never passed myself off as some sort of music savant... but I know what I like..... and I liked AC/DC last night! These guys can still bring it, with all the energy that I remember when I first saw them back in '82. They put on a great show, and was worth every penny to me. Following is their set list (in fact, I believe the same set list throughout the entire "Black Ice" tour), along with a couple pics I took. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out which song is playing 8-) "Rock 'n' Roll Train" "Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be" "Back In Black" "Big Jack" "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" "Thunderstruck" "Black Ice" "The Jack" "Hells Bells" "Shoot To Thrill" "War Machine" "Anything Goes" "You Shook Me All Night Long" "T.N.T." "Whole Lotta Rosie" "Let There Be Rock" Encore: "Highway To Hell" "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)"

Places to stay on Table Rock Lake
Understood Bass XL... as I said, it's very low end as far as resorts go. In fact, we experienced a broken water main a couple years ago, took them about a day to get it repaired. We weren't too happy about it, but it's funny what a few Bud's and a shot or two of Jim Beam will do for ya ;-) We're a bunch of guys who are there to fish, do some grilling and have a clean place to sleep... on as little $$$ as possible, so it's suited us pretty well, thus far. Now, if I were going with my wife and/or kids, that would be a different story.

Who Likes Pink Floyd
I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd... never saw them as Pink Floyd, but did see Roger Waters several years ago at an outdoor amphitheater in St. Louis. A great show! Also saw the cover band Australian Pink Floyd at the Fox Theater a couple years ago, one of those grand old theaters built in the 20's (http://www.fabulousfox.com/history.aspx.) They put on an outstanding show that evening.

Places to stay on Table Rock Lake
Hey Basschaser, when my buddies and I take our annual spring fishing trip to TRL we stay at a place called Boomerang Resort. It's on the opposite end of the spectrum from Big Cedar Lodge... inexpensive, very plain, etc... but if you are on a tight budget, it's worth looking into. This year we will be there 5/13-17. Very close to Indian Point, and thus not too far from the Dam. Good luck! Tom

Wii Issue - Need Help
Thanks all for the input. I ensured that all three new discs are clean and without scratches. It's odd, though, that the older discs play fine... you would think older discs are in worse condition (relatively speaking) than newer ones, although I stress to the kids that they always handle them with care. CFFF 1.5, I like your suggestion about seeing if they play on other consoles. I'll give that a shot. If all else fails, I'll do what Ninteno Support advised and return it for repair. Thanks again everyone! Tom

2009 The Pennants are flying and the Trash is almost in view!
Personally I think trying to build a team from within is the way to go... of course, my team doesn't have truckloads of money (or so they say) to throw at every available high-dollar free agent. As much as I may dislike those teams who do, I don't fault them, they are playing within the rules of the system... so with that said, the system sucks. If the Cards had a $200M+ payroll, my opinion may differ somewhat, however in the end it's the lack of a competitive playing field between the haves and have-nots that hurts the game.

Wii Issue - Need Help
I know there are quite a few Wii enthusiasts out there, so thought I would see if anyone can 'lend a hand' with this issue: My son rec'd Guitar Hero III, the Nerf game and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader for Christmas. For a few days all three worked, then we started getting an "error reading the disc" message. It was periodic at first, then they wouldn't play altogether. I connected my console to the Internet via my wireless router and performed a system update, however that didn't fix the problem. Funny thing about this, all of my son's old games still play (Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Wii Carnival & others). I now have to send it in for repair, however all levels reached, records, etc. will be lost. If it can't be fixed they will replace the console. Has this happened to anyone? If so, any suggestions before I pack up the console and ship it to Nintendo? Thanks, Tom
