  1. Man, that is too funny... I had to shut my office door to keep from disturbing my co-workers :-X Oops, guess I should get back to work.
  2. Dude, don't go there...!!! LOL Just kidding... the other post is at 112... and counting!
  3. Like the others, in their original bags and then in ziploc bags, separated by type... tubes, senko, etc.
  4. I've also heard that Please Release Me is pretty good, but haven't used it yet myself. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=1268&hvarSearchValue2=484&hvarSearchValue3=956&hvarSearchValue4=00&hvarTarget=search&AFID=&sourceid=&cmCat=SEARCHRESULTS
  5. For me personally the Hawg Hawlers (or one like it) would be a club I'd be very interested in. Just for the fun of fishing, no pressure, not super competitive... just a chance to get out and improve your game.
  6. Hey 405z06, just curious, can you fish in George Winter and if so is there anything worth fishing for? From the map it looks like you can practically cast to the lake from your back yard! ;D
  7. I've also heard that Please Release Me is good for helping to maintain fish in a livewell, but haven't used it myself: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=1268&hvarSearchValue2=484&hvarSearchValue3=958&hvarSearchValue4=00&hvarTarget=search&AFID=&sourceid=&cmCat=SEARCHRESULTS
  8. Great pics, T_Mike... they look familiar, like I've seen them posted on another thread? Anyway, I'll keep the length and width in mind as I search for a good/used/inexpensive : jon boat to work on.
  9. Wow, great stuff... thanks Matt!
  10. I live in the southwest part of St. Louis city, in a little place they call The Hill.
  11. Cool, that's sort of what I thought. But I would like to get a 17' or 18'... are these very common for a jon boat, or will I have a difficult time finding this length? Thanks!
  12. Just curious, what would you guys recommend as the MINIMUM size jon boat, if wanting to eventually get it on some bigger bodies of whater, say Table Rock or Mark Twain in MO? That is, after transforming it into a bass boat. Thanks, TC
  13. Would love to see some pics of it, if possible. My brother in law and I have been thinking of doing this, as well. If you don't mind me asking, approximately how much did you put into it, start to finish?
  14. I agree, it's a great idea! And when children see other children involved in something (i.e. fishing), it's a huge motivator, especially if mom and/or dad are involved.
  15. Those are great, KU. Seeing the type of structure that I read about all the time was extremely helpful for me. When I read about them again I will see some of your pics in my mind and know exactly what is being talked about. Awesome... Thanks!
  16. Thanks ghoti, but no hurry. Family, job (or in your case, jobs), etc. come first. Being new at bass fishing I'm just eager to get my hands on good information and learn all I can. I believe we're from the same area, maybe our paths will cross sometime...?
  17. Thanks for the post, ghoti. I really wanted to go, but prior commitments this past weekend prevented that from happening. Hopefully they come back to St. Louis again next year. Did you pass along your feedback to BU about the seating and the time? Would be great to get ahold of your notes, too.
  18. Wow, where to begin... so I won't, other than to say: fish more, learn more and keep checking in on BassResource.com!
  19. Great question, AHB, I've often wondered that myself. I've got one of those foldout Hotspots maps of a lake I'll be fishing in a couple months and would also like to know how to spot a secondary point.
  20. I saw on ESPN yesterday morning that you can use the following forumula to estimate the weight of a bass: Length x Length x Girth 1200 I tried the fomula with a calculator and got the same number as I did with the BR calculator.
  21. Well, I'm not a long time poster like many others but having read all the posts on this thread I thought I would put my two cents in... after all, it's still a free country, right? Anyway, I fall in the same camp as Matt_Fly and many others for a couple reasons. First, as a parent of two children (girl-7/boy-5) I do pay attention to the many things my kids are exposed to, TV, radio, etc., and let me tell you there is some real garbage out there. Heck, my daughter received a Black Eyed Peas CD for Christmas, the first time I heard the song My Humps I just about broke the disk in half (those who've heard it know what I mean). So, comparing Ike to many other outlets, personalities, etc., he is head and shoulders above them. I do understand, however, that his personality rubs some the wrong way, and that's their prerogative to feel that way. Secondly, I think with Ike and the sport of fishing being talked about so much, and more importantly getting exposure on national TV and in national publications is huge. It wasn't all that long ago that only hard core, serious fisherman knew anything, or for that matter even cared, about the sport of fishing. It's when people stop talking, stop taking notice, that I would worry. I believe some comparisons can be made with the sport of professional tennis. There was a time when tennis was very much a "gentlemens" game, everyone on their best behavior, etiquette ruled. What's wrong with that? Well, nothing, except that no one noticed or cared about tennis except for the real tennis enthusiasts. Then all of the sudden along comes Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe and Illie Nastasi. I think most of you know their stories, so I won't go there, but through the exposure they gave the sport, people noticed, people watched, tennis became HUGE. Most didn't condone their antics, and in many cases they went over the line, but it made the sport colorful and people watched. In recent years tennis has taken a step back and from what I read in sports magazines it's because there are no "colorful characters" in tennis anymore. More power to Ike for daring to be different. And to the other anglers out there with their own personalities. As long as they are playing by the rules and giving it their all, I'm OK with them. I appreciate this forum and the opportunity to post my views on this topic. TC
  22. Much easier on the eyes than some of the other "mugs" out there... LOL... j/k. By all means keep it
  23. My immediate family (I'm the youngest of 8) has always been very much into sports, but not fishing, hunting, etc. When I was around 8 or 9 my great aunt and uncle used to take me their place on the Mississippi, about an hour or so north of St. Louis, and we fished for catfish. I loved it! Years later (i'm 40 now) two of my best friends taught me how to bass fish.
  24. Check here first: https://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.Faq They also have an 800 number you can call with questions.
