  1. Wow, that's awesome, congrats on the weight loss... I lost 25 lbs. last year and haven't felt this good since college (20+ yrs ago). Still have 14 to go to reach my goal. By the way, best of luck on quitting smoking.
  2. BROOKLYN is the center of the universe 8-)
  3. We called it Fuzz Ball... Same two man teams, we used a tennis ball with all the fuzz burned off.
  4. Saw $1.59 on my way home from work, a 10 cent drop from this morning going to work!
  5. Some of you may have already seen this, but if not it's worth checking out... and it's more than just a guitar lesson: Heck, even if you have seen it, it's worth another look.
  6. I downloaded the St. Louis show at: http://www.livemetallica.com/ It's $9.95 for the MP3 download of the entire show. There's another file version called FLAC for $12.95, but I didn't know enough about that file type to go that route. In addition to all the shows on their current tour, you can download some from much older tours/shows for free. Hey Sam, it does seem like they've been around forever, but they aren't much older than me... 44, 45, 45 and 46 yrs old.
  7. Growing up, when we had our holiday's at my Grandma's house, the main course was either risotto (traditional Milanese style) or ravioli (the fathers would cook them in two big pots in the basement, the kids would take turns bringing them up a batch at a time). Now, it's more traditional... boy, I sure miss being a kid sometimes!
  8. $1.69 here in most places.
  9. Downloaded it last night and burned it to a couple discs so I could listen to the show again at work today! Hey Infidel, can't say that I agree with you, at least not concerning the show I saw Monday. All songs, old and new, had very distinct breaks between them. They put on a great show, a sentiment echoed by several friends who attended separately, and who have all seen them live at least 3 times. Oh, and very funny RW... that's ok, after taking my kids to school the next morning and getting to work, I changed back to Depends mode...
  10. Saw Metallica live last night (Mon.) in St. Louis and it was an incredible show. They played a good mix of new (Death Magnetic) and old... following is the set list, a couple clips and a review: http://metallicatour2008.blogspot.com/ OK, so at 43 I'm not sure if I'm a 'Depends' guy or a 'Pampers' guy, but on Monday night I was a Pampers guy through and through, and loving every minute of it...!
  11. Ladies and Gentlmen, bums and tramps; Cross-eyed mosquitos and bow-legged ants. I come before you to stand behind you And tell you something I know nothing about. Admission is free, just pay at the door; Pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
  12. Congratulations!
  13. I wonder if they were sandbagging to get that coach fired? According to some of the local media "insiders", word was that Linehan was becoming very destructive to the organization. He benched Bulger against Saunders wishes and cut their top corner (Brown) against Haslett's wishes. He didn't even tell Brown, who heard it from his agent. Ridiculous! He also ostracized the veterans. He didn't know how to lead a football team and had zero respect from the players and many of the coaches. Sure, the players deserve some of the blame, obviously, for starting 0-4, but Linehan was running the organization into the ground, one psychotic move at a time. Football is such a mental game, and Linehan was in way over his head.
  14. Right on, Muddy... there certainly are many like Mr. Kissell, those who simply love baseball and want to teach it the right way. As the article states, he was dubbed "The Professor" for his knowledge of the game and ability to transfer that knowledge to others. I saw a short clip of him a few years ago on a local TV sportscast at spring training, showing a minor leaguer the fine art of bunting... and laying down one perfect bunt after another. Can you imagine, here's this 85 year old gentleman showing some youngster how to bunt, with all the enthusiasm he can muster, and doing it perfectly... priceless!
  15. George Kissell, a member of the Cardinals organization for 68 years, was killed in a car accident last evening in Florida. The vehicle he was riding in, driven by his daughter, reportedly ran a red light and was struck broadside by another car. Not many here will know him, but those who closely follow the Cardinals, as well as nearly every Cardinal player who donned a jersey in the last 60+ years will definitely know Mr. Kissell... as a minor league player and coach, big league coach and manger and one of the greatest teachers the game has ever seen, including as recently as this year... teaching fundamentals at the age of 88. A true baseball lifer, Mr. Kissell will not only be missed by the Cardinals organization, but by all of baseball. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/C8A40753ED4823BC862574DC00170C66?OpenDocument
  16. I once read somewhere "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right". Oh wait, that's from the bottom of your signature ... Keep thinking you can, and you'll do it! Tom
  17. Enjoying my 3 children. Bocce every Wednesday night with the guys. Music. Collecting Hotwheels.
  18. Congratulations to the Phillies and Dodgers on advancing to the NLCS.
  19. That's awesome, man, congratulations! And what a great video... thanks for sharing your special moment with us. Tom
  20. Now that's funny... Thanks, I'll give the link a try.
  21. I was looking forward to the year also, unfortunately when I access the league using the link that I have my roster is empty, blank, void of players. Either I'm banned for being too good - in that case I'll throw my complimentary watered down drink in somebody's face : - or I have the wrong link. Dunno... Ciao
  22. No matter where you stand on this, and it's definitely a tough one and very personal, I believe 100% in what flechero states... do it for your loved one's.

Happy Birthday ... and watch out for the other guy!
  25. Originally posted this in the "Other Fish Species" section, thought I'd give it a try here (sorry for the redundancy): Taking the wife and kids to Fort Walton Beach, FL in August, and we're going with several other families. Myself and the other dads wanted to do a deep-sea fishing or offshore sport fishing trip, but need help with guides/charter services in the FWB / Destin area. I've gone to several web sites that list dozens of different charter services, but I don't know what to be on the lookout for, or which one's are better than the others. Any tips or recommendations would be most appreciated. Thanks!
