5/11/07--Two KVD Spinnerbait Bass
Thanks for looking and commenting y'all. Those baits are worth their price for sure! Dan

My mattlures swimbait came in!!!!
For your first attempt, I'd choose to throw it where there's 'open' water with no wood to snag your bait. Just throw it out there, let it free-fall for 3 or 4 seconds(at about 6-8' down) and reel it in slooooooooooooowly. Good luck! Dan

5/11/07--Two KVD Spinnerbait Bass
Back to the two farm ponds in Macon County where the KVD Spinnerbait worked its 'magic'. Caught them two days apart but both days were hot, partly cloudy, and some wind. The Kevin Van Dam Strike King spinnerbaits are worth the price. 5 lber Again 3 lber Again Dan

Swimbaits in Florida?
If they work in GA(and they do!), then they'll work in Florida. Dan

Back your drag off??
What they said and........I back my drag off when playing a large(4 lbs and up) Bass when it gets near the boat. A too-tight drag can cause you to lose a nice Bass when it decides to surge(usually right under the boat). Then my thumb comes into play and becomes my backup drag . Dan

spitting out the crankbait
As has been said, Mustad Triple Grip hooks will cover a multitude of sins . They are superior to most 'out of the box' cr/bait hooks. Having said that, get a tube of Megastrike Attractant and rub a gob of it all over the bait including the knot, the hooks, and the first 3 or 4" of the line. This will accomplish two things; it will cover up any paint or plastisol odor and it will make the bait 'slippery'(reread Randall's post), allowing for a more effective hookset. MS is not just for soft-plastics . A too 'wimpy' rod and stretchy mono contribute to your problem too. I use a 100% fluro for my cr/baits(and 95% of all my rigs). You should not have to "cross their eyes" on most any bait with the exception of large swimbaits. Dan Dan

5/06/07--3 baits---3 Bass
Avid: That Viva Pencil is a true floater though it floats with just the first 1/2" of its body out of the water. It floats tail-down and when twitched, its cupped nose makes a very natural 'fish sound'. The only problem with it is it's impossible to find and buy them now as far as I know. That grub is a long(8"), worm-like, thick(1/2"?) in diameter, grub. I've fished it weightless like a Senko, on a C-rig, wacky-rigged, and T-rigged. They are a 'big-Bass' bait but I've also caught some dinks on one too. 5 lber I think this one went 5 lbs too? 2 lber Dink/keeper Dan

5/06/07--3 baits---3 Bass
Yep. all of those Bass were skinny :-?. Just got back from fishing with my buddy. A cold snap hit here last night and I guess that's what turned them off as we only caught 5 dinks, 3 for Bill and 2 for me. Dan

5/06/07--3 baits---3 Bass
Put the Basshunter in the pond today and I had company in that another guy showed up with a jon boat. He was using fly casting gear. He was still there when I left but hadn't anything but a few gills. Caught a few dinks and then a 4 lber took my Viva popper under. Later, a handmade jig a friend gave me brought a 3 lber to the boat when I pitched it to a stump. Then I went to the walk-around pond and caught a 2/15 on an 8" GY Single-tailed Grub that was T-rigged. Suppose to meet my best friend Bill there tomorrow. Hope he out-catches me as he's not been able to fish much, much less catch any in a while. He lives in Jacksonville, Florida and will just visit here for one day.
