  1. Well the secret is a little bit. Bend the eye just a little. If your bait is running left just a little bend left and test and then a little more and test. A great CB doesn't run perfectly strait but will run a little left then correct and run a little right and correct they look figidity. When you get a crank like this protect it. Garnet
  2. There's a little bit of Art to tuning crankbaits. Also Normans have 2 grades of CB the cheapies have cheap finnishes cheap hooks. Also if you see thier popper do not every buy this bait.............. e mail me I will take care of the problem. Garnet
  3. Anglers shore fishing like to stand with their feet touching the water. If you would stand back 15 or 2o ft your success will go up. Even if other anglers are close to the water the fish will watch these anglers. Make your cast just as they reel in. Garnet
  4. Look up Redwing Tackle they are steelhead specialist they have a super small swival that will eliminate all line twist. When you are fishing deeper water getting the bait up and down is important. Garnet
  5. Every vehicle has a tow rating. A Malibu is proably 1500lbs but check your manual. Garnet
  6. I use the bobber stops, with smaller wieghts just the bobber stop and a glass bead, as the size gets bigger 3/4 and 1 oz I use a stainless bead then the wieght then a glass bead to protect the knot and rattle. Rattles is my area are important when I go to florida rattles are not that important. Just push the bobber stop tight and thats a florida rig if I decide to have a slip wieght just slide the bobber stop up a foot. Garnet
  7. Standard rule you see the fish they see you. Either stay back or stand with a tree or some object behind you. Even if somebody else is fishing the spot just stand back when that person starts reeling there bait in make a quick cast, the fish will be watching other buddy and hit a bait they don't no were it came from. Garnet
  8. Jimmy Houston and Kevin Van Dam are master role casters. When done right the fatige factor is cut way down. I use it a lot in gin water when the smallies are tracking lures. It helps to keep the bait close to the water. It's possible to role cast under docks with baitcaster, LBH vid is the best way. Garnet
  9. Garnet replied to nicmic's topic in Fishing Tackle
Try Daihcai Copper head they have a mechanicail advantage over the ewg stlye. Garnet
  10. 46 ft on the bottom is the deepest smallies I've caught. I did learn how to fizz a fish but like using a very heavy jig on another rod. Just cut the piont off and hold the hook in the mouth and start the fish down. This year i'm trying the lead off a marker bouy. Garnet
  11. One thing about the San Diego jam is the tag end is inline with your mainline and all the other knots your tag is at 90 degrees which is a weed magnet. Garnet
  12. As RW said fish the jig until you believe it's out of the strikes zone. Then make 2-3 quick turns and stop and then 2-3 quick turns and stop and continue this until the jig is resting under the boat or near shore and no fish are present. This is very productive for largies and a must for smallies. It really doesn't matter the bait I do this on every cast. Garnet
  13. I use a bobber stop, then a stainless Steel bead, tungston wieght, rusty orange bead then my hook (Daihci Copper head). If I need the wieght unpegged I slide the bobber stop way up, if I want rattle just 1/2" or pegged tight. This setup works from 1/16 to 1.5oz on tubes, worms, creatures and any t-jig. Garnet
  14. Another thing is to leave your big motor in the water. It acts as a keel. Garnet
  15. 2nd from the top on a $30 rod take your sidecutters and cut it off and forget it was ever there. Garnet
  16. I have a 207 Sprint what do you need to no. Garnet
  17. I worked the Shakepree booth at a show 25 or 30 years ago. You take a brand new rod give it a real had shake and then bend away. If you don't shake them first they will break. Garnet
  18. Look around your area for a place that has a selection of props. Marinas or prop repair place and take them out and run them. Remember to load the boat for your use. If it's tournaments then 2 guys lots of tackle full livewells. If they will not let you test props go to the next place. When I buy new boats in the contract will be clause on suitable prop. Garnet
  19. Thread your curly tail on so it up on the curve of your hook. Makes the minnow wobble wider and slower. Garnet
  20. Try Lindy No Snag sinkers on your dropshot. Should work. Garnet
  21. I remove transom saver and rear straps. Back in water. Undo the winch push the boat back off the roller just a bit. Step from the touge to the nose of the boat. Fire the boat up and back the rest of the way off the trailer and park the boat. Garnet
  22. Get jewelry clean from the buck store. Garnet
  23. It will improve your abilitiy to read your fishfinder greatly. The big problem is you can fish and use the camera. I won't be giving mine up anytime soon. Garnet
  24. you get what you pay for! The # of pixels top to bottom will give you how much detail the unit has. Then you need grayline for bottom hardness. Garnet
  25. I have both the old style prop on a 74 Min Kota and the bent prop on a 101. I don't think the bent deal is very good. I've had my 101 solid. Some local guys are working on modifiying the old style prop for the new style. Garnet
