The best thing about tournaments for me is.............at 4 o'clock we will see who the best anglers is. Standing in booths hanging around tackle shops generally wearing a shirt don't count. 20 years later I am the shirt with accomplishments.........now I get a kick out of people that love beating me.............just makes me try harder. You can make any fish finder portable. Buy a 12 volt battery for saffty lights or the battery for uderwater camera if theres a BPS/Gander in your area about $25 and buy a 12 volt power Piont to charge your battery. For your xduser get a piece of 1x3 mount your xduser and a c clamp. Garnet

I've spent the last couple hours reading press releases and reports about companys I/we own stock in. So I'm in press release mode. My first reading of Don's press release was budget cuts. My second reading casting kids are still going to the classic and Don and staff will be there so it's not budget cuts. Then I read the opening statement "in order to align its youth iniatives with it's grassroots Organization" If ESPN was a stand alone corp. this is a sign they are cleaning up the balnce sheet for a sale. Then the timing of this press release just before xmas, at first glance looks like a quick sweep under the carpet. I also had email were Don said why wait. After ESPN got creamed in there last divorce with Fed Nation and had to back track. This looks like ESPNi s separating assets on a 2 year corp. agenda. The why wait looks like Don is telling the board of directors that divorce in 1 year is possible. This is the press release that I'm looking for, If I'm thinking of buying stock in this company ( value investing) I know theres lots of bad news to come and a better price is coming. If I own stock in this company and the chart was up and I'm making money it would be time to start taking profits. So my prediction is ESPN will divorce Fed Nation by Jan 1/2009 Garnet

I've never been asked for a recipt at the Minn kota warrnenty repair guy. He just looks at the serail # located under the head and fixes it. Call Gander and ask who fix them in your area. Leave out the part about display model. Garnet

I never go anywhere without driftsocks. But only use them in deeper water. For your application 12ft Tinny I would get 10 ft of galvinized logging chain 3/8 and then cut 3ft sections so you can add/subtract chain. 10 ft works good for full size bassboat. Get a quick tye cleat and rope and drag the chain on the bottom. If you are going to slow shorten your rope. Also remember if you want to drift straight like a row of docks get the chain on the centeline of the boat use your motor for a keel to slid sideways. The chain will spook less fish letting you drift the same area more times. Garnet

I would skip the Nitro's they are on the lower end of quaility and I've nothing heard good about warrenty work. Check out Skeeters my tourney partner has a ZX 225 very impressed. All the storeage bins come out so you can run wires ect. The whole back deck can be removed. The carpet dryes almost instantly just open the lids an the water just drains away about 20 minutes everthings dry. Also has a great ride. Garnet

I've fished some torneys like this on a show up and go. I look at were the Sun comes up and go to the otherside of the lake were that sun is shinning. Then with a map or driving try to find the warmes area. Then I go out and fish all the lead in stuff letting the shallows warm up. Remember sex is once a year. it's worked a couple times Garnet

Take the 4 screws holding the 2 pieces of the head together. Pop the top off. The cable is there and you will see the bracket Cart7 spoke about. If it's the old style you will see holes further back you can lossen your cables and slide this bracket back and reattach then tighten your cables back up. Your cable adjust is under were the cable goes to the foot petal. Another thing I do is take electric tape and tape the cables to the pully in the head. It's a pain getting them right if they come undone. It's diffcult getting your cable adjusted right. Just take screw drive with and do it on the water. Garnet Garnet Garnet

It's a fact when they are looking to get married fishing is great. After they are married it's to hot to early to late to cold. At least I get to fish as much as possible..............only cost half my winnings. Garnet

Theres knock off Power pro from China you can check the Power Pro web site. Run your line threw your fingers if you feel little bumps thats a manufactures defect. I would still package it up and send it to Power Pro with your observations some times you make out like a bandit. Garnet

Another tip. If you can go thru the jars of Pork you will find soft tender pork and stiff not so tender. Trust me the soft tender will out fish stiff. Yes I'm not above switching chucks around to get the best. If you have some that are rather stiff go down to the Buck store and get a meat tenderizer and use it......................on your pork!!!!!!!!! Garnet

20 years vet. of elbow pain. Never fish without the arm bans. The key is to not get them sore. Ask yourself do you need to make that super long cast or can the stroller get you closer? Softer tip rods and shorter rods will help. Garnet

On my first trip to Springfield BPS in the early 90's Spring Fever I watched Woo Daves sort thur Poe's cranks and buy every 1 that had glass eyes. He had a carry basket over flowing. I got my share to maybe 10. Garnet

With practice you can be as good spinning or baitcaster. Woo Daves use to seminars on pitching with spinning. With Power Pro it's even easier to pitch for largies. If you get good at both switching between spinning and B/C with the same bait will completly change your presentations. At times this is hugh advantage for both smallies and largies. Garnet

For some reason we get thinking that tournament day is something specail. Normal fishing days we would have the trolling motor on 20% check deep, check shallow, go here go there and find some fish not think to much about it. For the most part thats the way we should fish tourneys. It just take practice and confidence. So get a real good handle on your practice/fun fishing days and try to mimic this on tourney day. See a lot of people get cranked on energy drinks, diet soda ect. Ussally the wrong kind of energy. Garnet

You can use a rubber core sinker at your bait to quickly find bottom. Those quick change bell sinkers work or medical pliers. All these are standard on Steelhead rivers. Garnet

On new lakes I use the mini recorder. It's great for detail. I've tried the computer programs but still like writing info into 3 ring binder and read often. Garnet
