Braided line and guide insert damage
Guide damage was from some of the early kevilar based line. Power Pro and all the copies are spectre. It's the same stuff that white plastic grocery bags are made of. Theres no chance of guide damage and no knot issues inside ever Power Pro box is a knot card and all the popluar knots are there. Garnet

Backing question?
For my bass rods I use the approx. the same dia. and fill the spool full then remove 35-40 pulls about 110 ft. and then fill with Braid or flouro or mono. But I know that I have 110 ft and don't waste line. Theres nothing worst than having a reel under capacity. Garnet

How to put braid on
I fill all new reels with cheap mono (wally World $1.57) in the size I'm likely to use on that reel. If it's a reel i haven't used before a couple fishing trip just make sure the level is right. Then I strip off 35-40 pulls and a pull would be 3 ft. And install braid or flouro and mono. Now all my reels are this way about 110 ft of line so with braid I just go from reel to reel. This keeps my reels at a proper level and I'm not wasting line. Garnet

Speaking of weighing fish...
All these digital scales work with a pressure switch so you need to hook the fish in the same spot and hold very straight and zero everytime bassically a pain. Chatillon Scales makes a very high quality spring scale for fish it's the very best and about $50 look them up. And very repeatable. Garnet

Anchoring System to improve productivity
Those grippers are the best thing i"ve found for anchors and drift socks. Use stainless screws and I've never had a problem front back and both sides of the boat. Garnet

some MORE advice on this boat....
You can buy cheap compression tester at most parts places. I'm sure the come with some instructions. Just take all spark plugs out screw the tester in and turn motor over. Do in some order and record. No more than a 10% difference and check manufaucter for specs.. Garnet

Need some advice on this bass boat...
Jigman's got it. Grab that steering wheel and move it back and forth those cable steers get stiff and the cables are pricey. When you buy it under the cowl you will see 2 small boxes 3/4"-1" these are the relays for your trim. Stop at a Dodge Dealership and pickup a couple and throw them in the glove box. If you don't carry them remember if your trim quits working 1 direction swicth these boxes around. They both need to be installed. Garnet

crystal clear water
Areas of darker bottom are huge. Doesn't need to be a depth change. Boulders and rocks and of cource weeds. You need to no were these areas are and get your casts there before to boats on top of it. Garnet

Importing Boat-Fishing Question
Yes your cone angle is straight down from your xduser and then theres a delay until you have usable info on your screen. The new models are way better. Look for chart speed and increase, this will get the info up quicker and also off the screen quicker. You can biase your xduser to the left or right on your trolling motor so you no structure and fish will allways be to 1 side. Garnet

RAM mount?
You can buy the Ram that has a hose clamp and rubber sleave that goes around the head of your trolling motor. It doesn't need to be straight up and down it can be at any wierd angle off the side of the boat doesn't matter when you clamp it down your trolling motor is not moving. You can also take the fish finder type to the flat side of your trolling motor. Again any angle. What some guys like is that they can pull there trolling motor up for shallow water and not have to drop it back down to move spots. Garnet

Spinnerbait - painted blades
I fish Chart/White blades and Chart/White skirt a lot. Works for smallies and largies. When I trim the skirt for speed it will be all white or all Chart depends on the look . In my area you have less problems with Musky's and Northern Pike that just love flashy $10 spinnerbaits. Garnet

rough water tips
A lot of what you need is in your boat setup. And thats lots of low and midrange grip. Hi Five props are reel popular. 3 blades for suckers. Going with the wind it's avoid the big part of the waves. Drive down in the valley at angle and stay there until the wave hieght goes down. There will be 3-7 smaller waves so you run these at a 45 degree angle faster then you will drive up a big wave you cut the angle down drive into the valley and scoot along until your next set of small waves. It can be a blast. Going into the waves is much harder but it's the same system. Then theres survavail and thats go slow. We all use Ram mounts on out trolling motor heads and straps on the motor. If you like your fish finders take them off or have builtin models, lock all compartments. Remeber avoid the big stuff. Areas like the Detroit River were theres a million 30 ft run abouts jock strap and back brace. Garnet
