  1. Thanks guys we were glad to do it. Plus it was worth it to meet everyone we were able to meet. We will be at the next one if it works out where we can make it. Next year has a lot of plans for us, Yellowstone here we come .. That trip is 18 days counting 6 days for travel. Then to Northern In for a week. 5 other 3 days trips but again if it falls right where we can make it. Will sure try my best to be there. MemphisFF yes we have a 3 year old Grandson that has been fighting cancer for over 2 years. He is in remission right now, but still a few cells showing up in his spinal fluid 2 weeks ago. But the doctors at St Jude tell us its nothing to worry about. They think its from something else. God has blessed us with him still being here. But man he sure rips my heart out with all he has been through in 3 years of life. Bassinchris I will be glad to tell you how I make the sauce. But the sad part is I don't have it written down as I should. Its one of those I have to taste until its right. Has everything in it but the Kitchen sink. Or does it??? Hope to do this again next year, and guys that have not make the trip. Its worth every cent to make the trip. Great people and fellowship second to none. Pete
  2. Jeff what days can you fish? Top water just keeps getting better as next month until Sept its hot in the evenings.. Fishing live bait at the dam unreal when current is on. Fishing a lb bait in that current and having the rod ripped out of your hands is unreal. Hope to camp at Pickwick and fish a lot this year. Best top water is 15 miles down river and 13 miles to the boat ramp from the house. Pete
  3. What end will you be on? If its the Tn end humps and main lake points. Also theres a small hump out from this branch N 34.99669 W 88.18112 that should hold lots of fish when your here. If your GPS has the lake maps look for the road coming out of that branch. It runs out to the old river channel. Good fishing along it also and theres an old steel bridge below there that is not on any of the maps. Not sure why its not but its still there. I will be fishing below the dam for Stripers. Can't get them out of my blood. They should be busting down river by then. We have evenings where its 3 fish or 50 never know. Or fish the tailrace and catch them until you get tired. But hard to beat the top water bite down river. As people I take will tell you its better then Sex cake...
  4. If your ever around Pickwick dam let me know. And we will sure try to get out and fish. Hate our plans did not work out but still glad we were able to make it. It was worth the trip to meet and visit with everyone we could. And if I can at all the next one I will sure be there. And even cook again if anyone wants to eat our cooking again. We have plans the week before this one each year. As long as it does not fall on the same weekend. I sure hope to be there for the next one. And thanks for the warm welcome both Marilyn and I got. Its always good to feel like you belong when around new people. But we have been doing this for years with a group that crappie fishes and catfishing. And all make you feel the same. We have make some of the best friends at deals like this over the last 14 years. Enjoyed getting to hear Big O talk and learned from it. That is what makes it so nice to be able to take away from something like this. But also give whatever I can. Sad part is the truck sure drank some Diesel on the way home. Something about 75 to 80 kicked back make it thursty... Looking forward to the next one.
  5. Bill used to do a lot of shows on Pickwick lake or the River below Pickwick dam. But it got where everytime he did a show, people would flock to where he was fishing. So that I bet is part of the reason hes fishing private waters. And don't think for s second the old man could not show all of us a thing or 5. I bet he can still catch fish on any water he fishes.. And yes he had a house by his uncles place at the Botel. As Bill Belles was his uncle. Pete
  6. It can happen in a heartbeat. So many get out on the water these days drinking or running at night with no lights. Sad but happens. Thanks for the headsup. Pete
  7. Picked the meat up and Chicken, will put the Boston Butts on tomorrow. The chicken will go on under the Butts Friday am. Pull all the meat off the smoker and Throw it into a cooler Friday. Head that way around 3 pm or so, its 1.5 hours there. Get there and set up and pull the meat and get everything ready. Hope everyone is Hungry, plenty of Pulled Pork BBQ, and Chicken for the ones that may not be able to eat Pork. Baked Beans and slaw and will pick up some Potato Salad and bread on the way. Also homemade sauce one mild and one spicy. If anyone needs anything I can pick up on the trip from Pickwick or between here and there let me know. Will be stopping at Walmart for sure. Wish my back would have allowed me to fish this week. But last Thursday on our way to Chattanooga it told me it was Boss. Pete
  8. Guys looks like high water, high winds and low temps. There calling for 3 to 5" of rain through Tuesday evening. Will be there Friday. Pete
  9. Our plans have changed, Will pull the meat off the smoker at home. Head that way its around 1.5 hours there. Arrive and get the meal ready, and visit. Then head back home or get a room in Florence if its late. AS Saturday we have a full day here at home. Need to know where the meal will be? And the time it will start? Pete
  10. Smallmouth should be on fire on the gravel banks across from Indian Creek. And behind the islands from Dry creek to the old boat ramp toward Al line. This time of year its unreal how many good browns come off those gravel points. Plus there covered with spawning benches that have been added over the years. Pete
  11. Will need help unloading the smoker Wed or Thursday evening. That way I can load it up for the meal Friday evening. PLans are to smoke boston Butts for pulled pork, along with some chicken for the ones that don't like Pork. Baked Beans and slaw, Still thinking on the desert? Also thinking about doing some Jalapeno Poppers. Pepper stuffed with Hot pork sausage and cream cheese and wrapped with bacon. Then smoked and man they're good. Been doing these for 15 or so years there always a big hit and for some reason they go fast. Pete
  12. We will be heading home Saturday am. As plans back home is going to make us leave early. But will be there wed, And will need help unloading the smoker between then and Thursday evening. Pete
  13. Winner Winner Chicken dinner. That is where the pic was taken. Lake side of the dam next to the Turbine. Pete
  14. Here is my last buy. 2005 Chevy Kodiak c5500 with 350 HP cummins 5.9 24 valve with a 6 speed Allison trans, Auto track sat dish on top along with flat screen TV. Back seat makes into a bed. Just made a trip Thursday in it pulling our Camper to Grenada lake Ms. 70 MPH and pulling 16,000+ of camper and still getting 12+ MPG. Pete
  15. Man I want a dump trailer again. But this round I want a 20ft long Gooseneck. These trailers are the best but hard to keep home. Everyone wants to borrow them. Thus the reason for a Gooseneck then add a kingpin to it. Not many around me have a 5th wheel so that keeps them from using it.
  16. Sorry but someone had to get out on the water. Even though the sun was shinning and the fish were well wet. LOL Buddy and I were side pulling for crappie. And the crappie won. Will be heading to Pickwick lake Sunday evening and camp and fish for 7 days. Again hate to do it but someone has to. Hooked up and ready to roll.
  17. Its not good here today. Around 80 yesterday and now 45 and 30 MPH winds.
  18. It was bad got a sun burn yesterday LOL
  19. Something is wrong? Look at your pick, then look the view from my boat yesterday.
  20. Nice brown for sure. Would love to get 3 or 9 like that next week. Pete
  21. Lady was getting our box out at the bank last week. She could not pick it up. Asked what I had in there? Told her it was lead sinkers as they would be worth there weight in gold in a few years. Was not going to tell her how many hundreds of dollars in silver coins was in it. Oldest silver dollar is a 1804 and lots of them from that up to 1921.
  22. Way to early to be gardening with that deal. Can't figure out why people buy those things unless they have a good strong son to run it. But then again we never need one. Pete
  23. Does this count? Being delivered today if nothing happens and selling 2 I have now.
  24. Shoot if you turn the numbers around its still a nice fish. Way to go. Pete
  25. Been using one of these for years. On a 20 degree morning with snow. There worth there weight in gold for sure. Now my Lund is slow, but with it being a tiller boat, I have nothing to get behind. Unless a three people is in the boat. Then I can use one of those for shelter. LOL Then in rain its great and does not block your view. Shoot in hard rain you can still see where without one your blind. Mine was one of the black ones, I Dipped it and now its Carbon Fiber. So changing the color is not an issue if you find the one you picked out just bothers you and can't stand the color. Pete
