  1. Had a buddy meet me at Pickwick to fish. He had transported a inmate from Middle Tn to Memphis tn. And ran 100 miles out of his way to make the fishing trip. Then told the Sheriff he had car trouble. LOL We did catch fish though. When you buy a new bass boat, Take off 7 months and fish 7 days per week. Sure worked a lot of OT to save the cash to do this. But I will tell you I would do it again in a heart beat. Nothing like fishing until you burn out doing it. I was on the water before first light and loading the boat in the dark. Now I can do it all the time. But my back will not allow me to do it. Thinking about learning how to fish sitting down and find someone to do all the hard work. You know back the boat in and pull it out. Get the dipnet and drinks...
  2. Water is up and about right to start the good fishing below Pickwick dam. Right now water release is 72,000 CFS so the brown fish should be on. Thinking about giving it a try tomorrow or Wed. Pete
  3. I hope to make this one. But its 25 miles for me, so not sure. But as it stands now will wait toward the last minute before knowing for sure. Right now can't get out or walk, so it will depend on how I get from now until then. Also will be camping below the dam in our camper. Pete
  4. Good luck, but hate to see you move that extra time. As you will not be at the Hollow long then you you will be moving to Pickwick. Be it the Al section or the Tn section. But it will be Pickwick. You have the lake and then the best of the best the River below the dam. Year around Small Mouth Heaven that can't be topped. Pete
  5. That made my day to see Al go down and at home. Priceless. Even though Tn could not pull there win out. That is ok Al lost Purdue Won and Tn well what can I say, The coach blew the game by not taking that field goal. Pete
  6. Did you ever get an answer to this ? As I'm thinking the same way . Pete
  7. River? Grass sounds like your on the Al section? I use a Scum frog or big worm rigged TX style. That or have had great days using a slug-go on top of the grass. Anything you can get back without hanging up works. Pete
  8. u did what's n yours boobs? What that there is boats........ Gots to finds outs mores obout this hear takls bout boats and Pickawick? U has to watchoutfur them there tampons botas them there thangs can drag uns downs...
  9. They had to get it into the water some how. LOL So they just pulled if off the dry dock.
  10. For me C Rig and never had the issues of gut hooking a fish, and I do feel the fish without moving the bait. Been fishing it for 30 years and would rather fish it any day over the T rig. But thats me. Pete
  11. Were you fishing Monday? See 3 other boats that day, I had a buddy from Middle Tn. We were catching catfish for a fishfry. Caught 6 blues that would weight around 65 lbs and took off back to fishing for browns. Only 3 smallmouth and they were around 3 lbs each. Pete
  12. No camara back in those days, And way before cell phones. I know it was in the news. Along with papers. But thats about it, Plus I know it happend and would not wish that on anyone. That was back when there was no phone calls in the boat or Camara's for me anyways. I was a river rat and country boy. Grew up on the Tn River 4 miles down stream from Pickwick dam. Pete
  13. These have an action that is unreal. I have a few Johnson spoons but these are only 2" long and make fish crazy.
  14. http://www.wildwolfproducts.com/skipjackspoons.html They have them in 3 different sizes and 3 different colors. Pete
  15. These spoons are 2" long and are killers on Smallmouth bass. Or for that matter any fish around them. We have fished them for years rigged Carolina Style and slip Shot them like live bait. But rigged this up and plan on giving it a try. Whole rig weights in around 1 oz. But guess If I hang up few it will sure hurt.
  16. Ex-GirlFriend. But then again she was easy..... No the sad part is I snagged a dead lady with the prop of my motor back around 1980. She had ran into the flood waters close to our house. Was Putting the boat in, Started the motor up. When the prop got a shirt wrapped around the prop. Got that off wondering why a shirt was in this spot, Then when taking off with the boat almost hit her car, The water was just over the top. When the waves lapped over it you could see the red Car.. Now the bad part is I did not know there was a body with the shirt. So when I got back to the house I called this in. Everyone showed up to get the car out, They searched for the lady 5 days. Then found her right where I had snagged the shirt in the prop. When they got her out of the water, most of one shirt was gone. Man that was close... Never wish this one anyone.
  17. Wish I could swing the cash to get a spot there. Pete
  18. Thats Awsome but man to beat your Dad like that . LOL Bet he will have a few jigs more after this. What color were you throwing? Pete
  19. Did not get to go, About Midnight I woke up hurting bad. Saturday made that look and feel good. All day SAturday hurt, went to church sunday am. Make it about 30 minutes and 3 trips to the bathroom to Pee. Came home and after passing a Football, got where I would use the rest room and not scream. Guess that kidney stone that came out Sunday was the cause. Went to the Doctor today, He gave me a shot and some meds. If Not better by Wed back to him and more Test to see how many more are lurking .. But If I can stand it tomorrow, I may just go fishing. If I';m going to hurt might as well hurt in the boat. That is if my buddy goes to do the driving and stuff. If its not for bad luck I guess I would not have any luck at all. Pete
  20. 1/2 oz short arm baits and up to 1 oz. Even used these when we were wade fishing the creeks around here. And we caught them from 1/2 lb to 5+ lbs in these feeder creeks. Bigger bait caught just as man small fish as big fish.
  21. Thinking about hitting the river tomorrow, Wife had to go back to Memphis to help out with our Grand Son at St Jude;s. We were going, but now that has changed I may just go fishing. Pete
  22. Good luck this weekend. I was going this am, was ready to leave the house when my plans were changed. Pete
  23. Part of that is still shallow in summer. But even on the main lake right now theres big stumps right under the water and a long way from the bank. If you use a GPS and follow it your good. Pete
  24. I hear Kent will also be the personal Net man for the winner! Plus he will offer to be your Guide Below Pickwick Dam for a week of fishing.
  25. Sounds like a great trip. Guess that was the Pic's kent was going to show me this am. I ran into him at Bass Pro Shops in Memphis. It was great to meet the man in person. Looking forward to fishing with him. Plus more from here at Pickwick. Looking forward to your report tomorrow evening BankerBass, After our trip to St Jude's last night and today. I think I'm beat until Monday. Pete
