  1. Maybe somebody on here has DIRECT experience with that, but from what I have heard those reels and salt don't mix. I saw this not too long ago: http://heartlandtackleservice.com/corrosion.stm Great reel and I own one, but I personally wouldn't use it in the salt. Hard to do in Kansas though.
  2. You had me thinkin' I was color blind there at first....had to get a second opinion from the wife. ;D Pshhh .... Had you thinking ..... I am taking this Photoshop class and I JUST read a chapter on how to set-up your monitor to get "true" colors. I was thinking "Crap, I screwed up someplace" ..... whew ;D
  3. So are you exctied???? I can't tell?? ;D Congrats and enjoy!!!!!!
  4. He's OK ..... ;D
  5. Your point is well taken KU and after my rantings about spinning tackle being "inferior designs"and all that it does desrve an explanation. My shoulder problem is still naggingly painful. I can fish but if I want a complete fix, it's back under the knife. I need something that I can fish from shore with. I can walk to the water, but only want to carry one rod. hence the spinning outfit because it can be switched rightie to leftie. It was one of the justifications for getting such an expensive outfit. I have a decent out fit that my son uses when he visits, but I wanted something that could cast from the bank I'm standing on accross to the next bank I'm not limited to the bank yet, but if I get the surgery, I will be. For a report go to the "my outings" forum. I know, I know. Just busting you up a little. I figured it had something to do with the shoulder. You gotta do what you gotta do. You and I share the same views on spinning gear ....... So I hope you don't mind from now on if I giggle when I see your posts (like in the outings section) with that fairy wand. ..... again j/k
  6. EXACTLY what an eye doctor told me one time. Don't skimp on them!!!! Get a good quality pair!!!!! If it's hard to justify the cost ..... think of it this way. 1) You only have one pair of eyes .... PROTECT THEM!!!! 2) I wear mine nearly every day while driving. A couple years go by and all of a sudden those $100, $200, $300 sunglasses aren't that expensive if you think about how much you wear them. Sunglasses are a MUST for fishing. Not only to block UV light, but also flying hooks. This happened last year: I was reaching down to lip a descent sized bass and it looked like (and felt like) I had it hooked pretty good and deep. Reached down to lip and the jig came flying out of it's mouth and back at my face. Hit me square in the eye. Luckily I had sunglasses on AS ALWAYS!!! Rain, snow, sun and shine. I am glad this thread came up. Reminded me I need to send my glasses in ASAP for repairs.
  7. Seems like there is always that "one" trip every year. Looks like you got yours out of the way safely.
  8. Sounds like your releasing it too late. Try making high lob cast so you can hone in your release point. It will feel a little weird at first and it should probably "feel" like your releasing behind your head. When actually your probably releasing at around 11:00 to 1:00. To practice try to make high lob casts. Once you get that down then you can get into more driving distance casts. For what it's worth: The only reason I picked up a baitcaster for the first time was so I could learn to pitch. Back then I felt like it was the only thing I couldn't do with spinning gear. That's all I did with a baitcaster for the first year or two. Then I added the side arm cast. It wasn't until a good 4 or 5 years after I picked up a bait caster that I even started using overhand casts. Don't know why I added that, but I felt like I should share it. Good Luck and stick with it. It's well worth it an the end.
  9. Me too. You paid for a PERFECT condition reel and I wouldn't settle for anything less.
  10. Nice catchn'!!! Wow ..... what a big blue gill
  11. Yeah .... but it's a sppppiiiinnniiinnnggg reel. What happened to my baitcasting amigo???? : ;D I must admit though, it is a pretty sweet looking reel. I am sure others will be excited to hear your report.
  12. With all this talk about this show I finally started watching. Not the new ones though. I started watching a couple weeks ago and I am midway through the 3rd season. I AM A FOOL FOR NOT WATCHING THIS EARLIER!!!!! What a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Well it's not a phobia ..... more like a worst enemy. The actual dentist is not too bad when they work on you. It's the hygienist .... you know the one that scrapes your gums away. And yes I said GUMS!!!!!
  14. Video of the Bass Bus Mooks on their way would be cool Video would be best, but still shots of leaving your home town, or packing up the car, or whatever would also do. Just throwing out some thoughts.
  15. Like LBH, I like the seasons. About this time of year though I really start looking forward to spring. My batteries are fully recharged and I am ready to start fishing again.
  16. Just throwing out an idea here ....... Everybody who has video capabilities video tape you leaving your home, street, airport, whatever and then give them to LBH. He then could mesh them together for an intro. The end of the intro could be all of you guys coming together at the Lake. Something like .... From North, South (maybe ), East and West ...........
  17. I got it to. It is now in the trash. I wonder how they got our names??? Wierd too that we are all in the same region.
  18. All I have used so far is 12 and I think I am going to stick with that on most of my set ups, put 10 on my cranking set up, and either 6 or 8 on my finesse set up. BTW- These are all baitcasters Pound Test Breaking Strength 6 13 8 15 10 17.5 12 20 If you have the Cabela's Master Fishing Catalog ... check out page 135. They have all the numbers published there. These numbers are a tad better than Yo-Zuri's.
  19. I am going out on a limb here .... IT IS THE WORST LINE I HAVE EVER USED!!!!!!!
  20. Hmmmmmmmm ...... Muddy, I have a bone to pick with you!!!!!!!! Here I am thinking mook was the highest compliment. I mean, Muddy even says he is a member of the mook fishing team. Then a while back I received a PM from Muddy and I think the subject was something along the lines of "Hey Mook". There I was honored at the time. Even brought a tear to my eye. Noooowwwwwwww the truth comes out. I am hurt. :'( :'( :'( :'( ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  21. Have or have had them both ....... I would take the Premier hands down!!!!!!
  22. I was wondering the same thing Muddy ........ Now I "get it". ;D ;D ; I am in for throwing some help the boss's way. This site is like a second home for many of us and home repairs cost money.
  23. Step back ...... here comes "THE BEAST"......... : ;D
