School Me On Lipless
I fish lipless on a 7' mh/f rod with 15# mono. I have collected a few different brands over the years, but most of the time I will be fishing with a Rat-l-trap or a Super Spot. Different brands sound different in the water. While one lipless brand may not be getting any bites, another brand may get bit like crazy.

Seasonal Bait Color Choices
I use red and orange baits year round. It’s more about the water clarity than the time of year for me.

Something you should never do
I keep a spreadsheet with reel information on it, but nothing for baits.
-
How do you retrieve a dropshot?
I don’t fish a drop shot that much, but when I do I let it fall straight down and then keep the line fairly tight while the bait is on the bottom.

Why couldn't I throw this in the winter effectively?
Most of my winter fishing is done from the bank, and most of the time I am pitching in and around cover, not in open water. I'll use a t-rig creature or craw to get down into a brushpile or down through wood. I'll fish with a fluke or a senko in more open water and just deadstick them on the bottom. Usually I can pick up a bass or two once I figure out if they are in open water or holding tight to cover.

Are flat sided squarebills needed in the winter time?
In the winter, I have always better luck fishing with shallow running crankbaits more than flat sided crankbaits.
- Oh No....

Long rods vs. short rods for finesse spinning
I use a 6'6" for finesse plastics. I like a 7'0" when I'm fishing with small moving baits for crappie and sunfish.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I went up to the BPS near my house to pick up a couple of the BPS 370 tackle boxes. I'm reorganizing my workbench and those are great for storing hardware in. Since I was already in the middle of the fishing dept. I decided to look around, and ended up buying a green pumpkin and a black/blue Strike King KVD swimjig.

Best way to fish a tube?
I fish them on a Texas rig, and hop and drag the bait back. I fish tubes in the same places where I would fish a jig and craw.

daiwa tatula CT reel cleaning
I use Abu Garcia oil and grease.

White Spinnerbaits
White is the color I usually start out with. I don't think about why it works, unless it doesn't work.

What are you doing to display your favorite (retired) lures?
I keep my old baits in a 40 year old double sided Plano tackle box.

Got my first winter trophy!
Nice smallie!

One after another
We are getting into a springtime pattern here. Warm in the middle of the week and single digit cold around the weekends.

I don’t hate a January fishing day like this.
Nice catch!

a few SwimJigs snuck into my TW box. what trailers?
I use a Zoom Fat Albert. Same as on a bladed jig.
-
Black and brown jigs
If I'm fishing really stained to muddy water I will start off with a black skirt and trailer. If that combo won't work I will either change the trailer to blue or to brown. If those combos don't draw any bites I figure that the bass aren't going after jigs.

RIP. He made some classics.

June Bug - The Color
Junebug works for me all through the year, in different water clarity. One of my confidence colors.
-
What’s Your Go-To Search Bait?
Depending on the time of year and the conditions, either a crankbait, lipless crankbait, spinnerbait, or bladed jig.
-
Why the need to change hooks on a hard bait?
I only replace hooks if they get bent out of shape or when I can't sharpen them any longer.
