Tandem or double willow spinnerbaits for spring?
Usually it's tandem Colorado blades, but this year I'm trying an Indiana blade over a Colorado blade.

Cynical
You're a walking bass fishing encyclopedia, and history archive. If they don't want to listen and learn then that's their problem.

Be kind, you never know
I've worked for a large corporation for the past 35 years. My job is basically internal customer service, but the customers are all fellow employees. I run into a lot of fellow team members that think they are entitled to whatever, and have no problem talking down at you, just because of their job title. Luckily I worked in retail in high school and college so I learned how to control myself while dealing with these people.

What happened with all the 6’6” rods?
All of my rods are 6'6" except for the 7'0" casting rod I use when I bomb the heavy baits out into the lake.

Spinning Finesse rod and line recommendations
Mine is a St. Croix Premier with a Pflueger President on it. I've got it spooled with 10 lb mono.

The Match Game
For me the trailer and skirt need to have some contrast, but not too much. I like a green pumpkin trailer with a watermelon skirt, or a dark brown trailer with a black jig.

New lures for 2022
I think I'm good on baits for a while. At least until I lose a few in some brush piles.

Thankful !!
I was around 7 or 8 when I started fishing with my dad. He started me out catching bluegill with a cane pole, and then got me an ultralight rig. We would go catfishing and my job was to catch bait. About the time I graduated from college I quit fishing on a regular basis until about 2002 when I started up again. I know my dad was happy when I got back into fishing. Below is a pick of my dad from 1980 down at Lake of the Ozarks.

Hook for Flukes
I’ve always used a 3/0 EWG hook. It texpose the hook until the fluke starts getting torn up then I bury the hook.

The Match Game
Black with a sapphire blue craw is one of my go to combinations.

That ONE LURE

Close Encounters of the Snake Kind...
Years ago while out hunting I stepped on a copperhead that was sunning itself. I don't know if it was the cool weather or how I stepped on it, but it didn't move too much. I sure did though. About 10 years ago I was swimming a jig in the shallows and saw something following it, but I couldn't tell what it was until it got closer. Turned out to be a northern water moccasin. Every time I slowed down the retrieve that snake would lunge at my jig. When I got the jig out of the water the snake just gave me a look and swam off.

All Around gear ratio 6:1 vs 7:1
Just about all of my reels are 6.3:1

When you're fishing partner is the exact opposite.
You could always leave the boat at home and fish off of the bank.

Ridiculed from buddies for bass fishing???
People hate what they don't understand. Maybe the haters are frustrated because they can't catch any bass.

Could you only fish crankbaits year round forever?
It depends on if the bass want crankbaits or not. Around here the crankbait bite seems to go in cycles. The bite seems to be off about every other year. If the pattern holds, then this year the crankbait bite is going to be slow.

Overnight trip - How far would you go??
If I have to drive more than 4 hours one way I'm staying the night.

That’s different.

The Found Lures Thread
Check with your local library. They have a loaner program here where you can borrow a rod and reel to fish local waters for the day.

My Jerkbait Game is No Good
I only seem to have luck fishing jerkbaits when I fish large reservoir size bodies of water. If I'm going fishing on a pond or small lake I leave the jerkbaits at home.

Winter 2021/22
After fishing last weekend I was bummed out when I discovered I was going to have to work this coming weekend. The 2" of snow and the blast of cold we are going to get this weekend is making it easier to take.

The Official Bass Resources Forum Facial Hair Poll ~
Closest time I came to having a full beard was when I had surgery a few years ago. I didn't shave for a week and my wife told me either I shave it off or she would.

Come for the Largemouth, Stay for the Hybrids
Even the small ones are fun on light tackle. A few years ago I was fishing a fluke on ml tackle with 6 lb line. I saw a flash near my bait and thought it was a crappie, but I never had a crappie fight like that before. I spent the rest of the day fishing for hybrids.
