  1. Looks like he was messing with the sonar right before it happened. Distracted driving is no joke on land or in the water.
  2. Nope. Around here you have to at least touch them.
  3. I have three round Abu reels. The last one I bought was a 5600c3 Hank Parker model from BPS back in 2003. This is the one I use for punching down through matted vegetation. The other two I bought off of my dad back in the early 2000s. A 5500c3, and a 5600c4 that were around 10 years old or so when I got them. All three still work, and are on the rods that I originally paired them with.
  4. I use duolock snaps for moving baits that go through the water column, and for some topwater baits. Bottom contact baits, and rigs for plastics always get tied on. I may or may not use a snap on a chatterbait and a spinnerbait depending on the conditions at the time.
  5. I always use a trailer on a jig and chatterbait. I don't think I have ever used one on a spinnerbait.
  6. I use a split ring over the bend before I put the snap on.
  7. My wife and I will be married 34 years this year. I think she has been fishing with me 3 or 4 times over the years. Her thing is bird watching, I think I have gone with her 2 or 3 times. We do photography together, usually on a trip somewhere.
  8. I've never replaced bearings in any reel. I soak them in rubbing alcohol for a couple of hours and then let them air dry.
  9. (1) Abu 5600 C3 Hank Parker (3) Daiwa Tatula CT (1) Shimano SLX (2) Older model 6735 Pflueger Presidents (1) Older model 6730 Plfueger President
  10. I have the m/f spinning rod. Not a fan of the micro guides, but it seems to be fairly sensitive, and good with crankbaits and weightless plastics.
  11. Some of the retail and grocery stores are paying $15-$16-$17 as starting pay, but there is a flip side to this. I am seeing a lot more self check outs, and more self serves around in the stores. Are the stores using more self service items due to lack of workers, or are the store using them in place of the workers?
  12. Currently I'm using low vis 6# green mono. In the past I've used up to 10# clear mono.
  13. Nope, not for me. The stress would be a killer if tournaments were my only source of income.
  14. I fish with a weightless 6" on a baitcaster, and a weightless 4" on spinning tackle. When the 6" starts getting really beat up I trim it down and fish it on the spinning tackle. There are times when the 6" size out catches the 4" size.
  15. No frost last night, but we had a freeze. Going to play heck with some of the plants that have started to bloom.
  16. Looking at the scoretracker, it looks like the bass are being caught close together. Like they are moving in small schools.
  17. I started out fishing from the bank on a 35 acre lake. I moved to a pond that is about 4-1/2 acres after the 15+ mph sustained winds made the larger lake too hard to fish. I got my only bass running a shallow running crankbait down along the dam of the pond.
  18. I never go shirtless anymore. Wide brim hat, and plenty of sunscreen applied at intervals. This year I might buy a sun shirt.
  19. Welcome to the forums.
  20. Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the retirement.
  21. When the water gets clear around here it's usually because of the coontail growing in it. The more coontail the more water clarity there is. You still can't see anything because of the coontail, but the water is clear.
  22. Sorry to hear this. Hope you have a fast recovery.

I was taught to fish the bank the wind was blowing against. Sometimes that can get dicey if you can't hold the boat in place.
  24. It depends on what cover and structure I'm fishing around. If I'm fishing open water I'm more likely to bring the bait back in faster.
