  1. Welcome back!
  2. From shore this time of year I like fishing with a lipless crankbait, bladed jig, or a shallow running crankbait.
  3. I’ve gotten so I take 4 rigs with me on a local trip. If I’m staying 3 or 4 days I take everything.
  4. That’s happened to me more than a few times. It’s flat out frustrating.
  5. Fishing more with swim jigs. I’ve fished with jigs for years, and when the bottom was too tangled to drag a jig I’d swim it over to top. Late last year I started fishing with an actual swim jig. They produced in the eel grass. I don’t know why I waited so long to fish with them.
  6. Texas rigged worm, craw, or creature bait. Might even try a weightless worm if it will sink.
  7. Yes, but it only went out about five or so feet before it got stopped by lilypads.
  8. My dad used to clean my reels. After he passed I started taking them to a guy for cleaning. Now I do them myself. It helps to break down the reel in front of the computer so you can follow as the guy on YouTube as he breaks down his reel.
  9. I have a little bit of everything, but I fish with SK Bitsy Flip jigs the most.
  10. Deep diving crankbait for me. I've got two 3700 boxes full of them, but I do better with other types of deep baits.
  11. I wish I had some extra time at work.
  12. I'm going to do more sunfish and crappie fishing this year. Last year I didn't catch any crappie, and all of my sunfish were bycatches.
  13. For hard jerkbaits I like a 6'6" m/f baitcaster, and for flukes I like a 6'6" mh/f baitcaster. I'll be casting the soft jerkbaits in heavy cover, and hard jerkbaits in more open water.
  14. The rod I use is labelled as a m/f, but it's more on the m/m side.
  15. In the few years I have fished in January I have fished with a jig and craw.
  16. If I feel a bite on slack line I will reel down and then set the hook. If the bass are short striking the bait sometimes its good to have some slack in the line.
  17. My wife and daughters got me some gift cards from BPS.
  18. Last spring I fished a couple of lakes that are murky to the point of being muddy, and I did pretty good. Last summer I fished the same water and didn't do squat. Back in the fall I started catching on them again. This year during the warmer months I'm sticking to fishing clear water with vegetation.
  19. I don't buy anything just because somebody famous is pushing it. I always do research before making a purchase.
  20. Either a UV speedcraw, or a beaver style bait, on a t-rig with a 1/8 oz weight.
  21. Probably a 4" black grape plastic worm on a split shot rig.
  22. None of the smells really bother me any more. When my allergy starts up and my sinuses get irritated, I can't smell a thing.
