Recommendations for beginner moving baits
From shore this time of year I like fishing with a lipless crankbait, bladed jig, or a shallow running crankbait.

I’m at that point now…
I’ve gotten so I take 4 rigs with me on a local trip. If I’m staying 3 or 4 days I take everything.

hey. now I know what's worse than being SKUNKED.
That’s happened to me more than a few times. It’s flat out frustrating.

New for 22
Fishing more with swim jigs. I’ve fished with jigs for years, and when the bottom was too tangled to drag a jig I’d swim it over to top. Late last year I started fishing with an actual swim jig. They produced in the eel grass. I don’t know why I waited so long to fish with them.

Best baits for wood
Texas rigged worm, craw, or creature bait. Might even try a weightless worm if it will sink.

Boats drifting off…
Yes, but it only went out about five or so feet before it got stopped by lilypads.

Cleaning reels
My dad used to clean my reels. After he passed I started taking them to a guy for cleaning. Now I do them myself. It helps to break down the reel in front of the computer so you can follow as the guy on YouTube as he breaks down his reel.

Favorite rubber jig
I have a little bit of everything, but I fish with SK Bitsy Flip jigs the most.

Any new species, or new tactics for the species you normally chase on your radars for the new year?
I'm going to do more sunfish and crappie fishing this year. Last year I didn't catch any crappie, and all of my sunfish were bycatches.

rod choice for hard jerkbaits and soft jerkbaits
For hard jerkbaits I like a 6'6" m/f baitcaster, and for flukes I like a 6'6" mh/f baitcaster. I'll be casting the soft jerkbaits in heavy cover, and hard jerkbaits in more open water.

Moderate or Fast Action - Topwater
The rod I use is labelled as a m/f, but it's more on the m/m side.

Slack vs Tight line bites
If I feel a bite on slack line I will reel down and then set the hook. If the bass are short striking the bait sometimes its good to have some slack in the line.

Probably Won't Do That Again ~
Last spring I fished a couple of lakes that are murky to the point of being muddy, and I did pretty good. Last summer I fished the same water and didn't do squat. Back in the fall I started catching on them again. This year during the warmer months I'm sticking to fishing clear water with vegetation.

Pro Influence
I don't buy anything just because somebody famous is pushing it. I always do research before making a purchase.

Would You Rather?
M/F with mono.

Ice out soft plastics...
Either a UV speedcraw, or a beaver style bait, on a t-rig with a 1/8 oz weight.
-
If you had to pick ONE bait
Probably a 4" black grape plastic worm on a split shot rig.

Stinkiest Soft Plastic You Use?
None of the smells really bother me any more. When my allergy starts up and my sinuses get irritated, I can't smell a thing.
